Eric, Thanks for the great info here. I too have been looking for the correct OID's for polling our NetApp's. I've created a device to poll 1.3.6.1.4.1.789.1.5.4.1.6 to extract the % used, and had no problem with it coming up with the volume names like you show above by self selecting the appropriate column table headers…

Great thanks for the clarification. That works and I understand clearly now what I need to do. By the way - the default way this comes up is by a radial guage - how do I transform this into a historical graph that shows trends over time? Thanks - sorry for all the questions! :0 John

That's cool. I think this will be the answer we could use, I'll give this a try! Thanks everyone for the responses, I'll give it a go. /J

Byron, Thanks for your help. I dont' see why they couldn't show stacked graphs for all VMs in a cluster or resource pool (ie. total allocated resource and the VMs working within these boundaries), but just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Thanks for your posts!

Strange indeed. Maybe it only shows up if you are running a local database. This is a separate SQL database and shows that area as empty.
-
Scott, That won't necessarily show you the server that the database is on. You can open a database connection on any SQL server. In my case, a connection was made to another SQL server, at which the database was not really on. So this is not a guarantee, which is why I'm asking. It's seems rather confusing that there isn't…

Kweise, - thanks for the responses. I've played with this quite a bit and while not as flexible as I'd like, it's pretty good. I was quite proud of some of the detailed screens I came up with when the client said "yeah, but can you make it just pop up with a big flashing red box saying 'NODE DOWN'" when something goes…

Thanks. It's a perfect adaptation to your new multiple object charts, with a Sum of total (CPU, memory) etc. per cluster or resource pool. Thanks

Update: I tried using MibViewer and tried downloading 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021 from one of these devices - it did, the OID Name is "ucdavis.200" but the note that came up beside it in red is "*** unsupported OID***" Does this mean I can't poll for it, or use this, or import this MIB into the Universal Device Poller? Thanks!

With the latest versions of Orion is actually become very easy to add devices that are not directly supported (Like most Cisco devices, Windows servers etc..) The first thing you need is to find the MIBs for the device type you wish to monitor - for Junos and ScreenOS devices they can be found on the Juniper website under…

Thanks. I knew about customizing tooltips, but a client wants to have these statistics available on the map itself, so when you look at the map you see them on there all the time, which I admit would be a nice feature. I don't think there is any way to do this, but I thought I would ask. It would be a nice feature to…

Here, mark me down for having several clients who need Xen support. Thanks

Thanks, that did give me essentially the data I was looking for, but at first glance I thought the multi-colored (VM) graphs that are displayed when you view host would be there, but the default display is different. Is there a way to change that so it looks similar to the host graphs? Thanks for your help!

#1 - thanks for listening!! :) no, you are talking about those other buttons, they align objects from what i can tell, not text. only that one button aligns the text "align labels". i have hundreds of items on my map and i'm sitting here clicking and dragging the labels all to the left or right hand side of the object and…

Sedmo, I tried that, but I don't see anything in my Help/About indicating a DB connection or server in there ??? Thanks
-
Thanks - I know you can get to it via the Web Console, but that's not working at the moment, so I want to determine where the server is pointing so I can back up the database, and am just curious. How do you do this, without access to the Web interface? Thanks guys!

Another problem I'm having is the data that I am getting by default (CPU Usage) is simply returning 100% all the time - I'm sure this is incorrect data being returned by these devices, as I have 3 other similarily configured devices (from the same vendor) doing the same thing, regardless of user load, time of day, or what…

Thanks for the response Dave. In the case you example here, isn't the getting the alarm for that link being down correct, and wouldn't you want to get that alarm, and upon receiving that alarm, wouldn't you then access that router via the second IP/interface and investigate and attempt to resolve the issue? Thanks again.

Thanks! I checked this out and it may work. However, I would still like to know how to custom design a page and put specific items on a page, and exactly where on a page. I don't think I can get as granular as I'm hoping, but at least perhaps I can select specific network elements with monitored interfaces, and show them…

Great - thanks. I'll check that page out and look up Brian's post/info. Appreciate the feedback.

Thanks for your response. Not sure this does what I need. First of all, the "Memory Consumption Page" only appears on the page where you see a single host. I want to create a "multiple interface chart" of sorts, but not with interfaces, with VMware cluster hosts. If I go into a host, click on this chart, it comes up on a…

PS. I see a lot of ObjectID entries for specific devices I've added in Orion in my Universal Device Poller when I sort by SysObjectID, but I don't see the entries above "1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.200.8" even though I see the devices themselves (if I list by Vendor they appear under "net-snmp" So, I'm not sure how to "use" or poll…
