  • So I did a discovery of just one node that had never been in monitoring (my laptop) and that discovered with CPU & Memory checked. Any thoughts or ideas why it is working on some but not others? I thought maybe it was because some of my nodes initially were ICMP only until we got SNMP enabled but I just tested that and…
  • I don't think this is possible but perhaps a member of SW Staff can confirm. The notes are in the AlertStatus table which only shows active alerts, from what I have been able to tell the notes don't make it into the AlertLog table (or any other) which is where the historical data is kept. I was extremely happy when alert…
  • Ok I uploaded my template to the content exchange. http://thwack.solarwinds.com/docs/DOC-166985 ping me if you have any questions but it's pretty straight forward.
  • Beast911 and I work at the same company. We went through all of the steps in the thwack thread SEUM Playback Player - Run as a domain account? Which sadly were the exact same steps sent to us by support (verbatim not an outlined doc by support but the original posters message) The location shows OK but we cannot get past…
  • It has been a while but I believe that the router is aware of the change in that interface. Are you monitoring the interface now? Can you test pulling the phone line?
  • Are you not setting the actual search string? If left blank you will get a success at any web page that loads.
  • What I did to accomplish this was to use the User Links under the misc. resource section. I then added the hyperlinks to the maps I wanted to add into the list.
  • I also tested with the default select statement that is in the WMI Monitor to start with Select AvailableMBytes From Win32_PerfRawData_PerfOS_Memory and that works fine and returns an available status when testing. So I know the ability to run the WMI query is working When testing with Select FreeSpace From…
  • 4. Lookups/dropdown lists. This would probably be more difficult to implement that the first three, but it would be really nice to be able to provide a dropdown list of the acceptable values for a property. I can't state how important this is....all of our alert rules are triggered off of a custom property. A simple typo…
  • Not sure where to look on your SAN but I have used UnDP to find the IP address listings of say a Cisco switch or router. I would assume this is probably available somewhere in the SNMP queries of the device. This is by no means a replacement for Solarwinds to poll multiple IP addresses a feature that has been requested…
  • Any firewalls or ACLs between the server and router? Can you ping the SW server from the router?
  •  I don't have access to my server right now but I have something very similar setup. I believe this is how I have it configured. Trigger when all apply AssignedGroup = WAN (then I have a condition group) trigger when any apply RCV over 70% XMT over 70%
  • We utilize the description field on network interfaces to denote server names, desk locations, and other important information about our network. It is updated regularly as new ports are connected, servers are removed/added, etc. It doesn't seem that Orion NPM automatically recognizes these changes and only keeps the…
  • Seriously thanks for posting....I was prepping to add the UCS chassis to NCM later this week. I'm not sure what rev of code they are on however.
  • Very interested in the ipconflict detection. This could definitely be an asset.
  • I'm seeing the same thing but haven't really looked into it yet....I think I have about 50 copies of one view. I just haven't had time to really see what is causing it.
  • I don't have access to it any more as I created it at my last employer but I created a report. The report consisted of the alert, the node, the time acknowledged, and the notes. I then took the report and added it to our NOCs home page. It was a relatively simple report to create from what I remember.
  • Too bad this is limited to Australia & New Zealand. Free toolset if registered by May 31st Network Management news, events, jobs and awards | Investor Relations | Press Release
  • There have been many times over the years where and I have had the same perspective on a SolarWinds product and this is another. The only thing my team uses this tool for anymore is the SNMP Trap Editor. 7 years ago this was a fantastic product but it has fallen off the radar over the years.
  • You can get around the gateway issue by using static route statments in the box. I ran a similar setup where NIC 1 was on the client network and NIC 2 was on our internal network. The default gateway would always point to the client network. To solve issues reaching our internal network I would use route statements such…
  • There is a canned report built in that already includes this information. Go to your reports page....Node Reports....Inventory....Device Types.
  • I fully disagree...in my days as a consultant I ran around with a laptop designed for this exact task. I would setup and monitor a client network for a period of say 3 weeks and then review the information with them. If it was a viable solution for them I would then install Orion on one of their servers. I even used the 30…
  • Don't know if it's possible to change the fonts or not but what I did for my NOC was to create custom user and views that included large copies of the maps and other graphs specifically for use on the wall mounted screens. The user I created had a handful of custom views on their menu bar and each screen would display one…
  • From my experience (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong) polling a node doesn't trigger the volume or interface statistics collection. I always go to managed nodes and expand the node I'm looking for and the check the box next to the volume or interface and then choose poll now.....This seems to work
  • The templates are designed to monitor the default instance...you will need to modify them to monitor the named instances.
  • You are able to use the same variables that are found I believe under the Alert Variables section of the User Guide. I personally have my network links setup to show the configured interface speed and the current transmit and receive utilization. ex. Speed ${InterfaceSpeed} In ${InPercentUtil} Out ${OutPercentUtil}
  • This is how I accomplish this. Notice that the Trigger condition is set to ANY while the reset is set to ALL. If you don't pay attention and set the reset to ANY if you are getting XMIT errors but not RCV the alert will instantly reset and then immediately retrigger. Feel free to use what ever error level you want this…
  • This is a much needed feature request. The need for granular controls is a definitive need. We are actually working on creating a separate front end for simply unmanaging without giving out node management rights.
  • I see no reason why this wouldn't work (you seem to understand the limitations and challenges you will have to overcome for this type of scenario). That being said the beauty of SW is all their products have a 30 day free trial. Put it to the test and do a POC.
  •  I had the exact same issue and since there was not an option to do this in Orion I found a product called YRefresher which is an IE plugin that supports custom refresh settings. It's not the exact solution I hoped for but it is an efficient work around.
