Well this is a post that makes me smile. Glad to see you still around and kicking :) I'm at 18 years and counting but I too was a lurker for a while.
-
Still doesn't work for me....just sits there trying to load.
-
I'm tracking events in my NPM event log...looking for recurring events
-
Alerts were moved to the web in NPM 11.5 SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor Release Notes
-
I really like this idea..spent hours trying to figure out how to make powershell do just this task with no success.
-
Some of the audit tracking has been announced in the NPM 10.4 release...I'm eagerly awaiting as well.
-
Agreed. Unless something comes along that is just as simple and universally adopted it won't die and in my opinion it shouldn't
-
I agree that it can be done today however I'm looking for a specific method to do it like the unmanage works today requiring an off time so to speak and the ability to schedule it. Currently we'd have to mute when needed not schedule it for say 1-3 AM during a maintenance window.
-
Sweet...as long as auditing and controls are in place I can't wait for this to be GA.
-
Same here.
-
I can't say how many times I've been asked to have a folder checked exactly at the top of the hour or only at a certain time of day. It's a common request that I always have to inform the user we can't accommodate.
-
Any thought to more granular control? For example handled with custom properties. While I might be ok with someone restarting a service on an app server I might not be comfortable on a domain controller. Also I'm hoping that this will be fully audited so we can know who did what.
-
Uggh.....I'm going to have to start kissing babies or getting a lobbyist to get this more votes....Had to create 6 rules today (all with basically the same settings) with the simple difference of something in the trap details causing the emails to have to go to 6 different groups. Took me an hour because there is no…

This is another example of how Solarwinds does things one way in a product but a different way in another. NCM has a similar concept of roles where each role has a given set of permissions. I thoroughly support the use of these templates or roles in the entire suite of products.
-
That's a good point perhaps if they looked more like this one (From SEUM) where it's easy to see deviations from the norm.
-
I think I'll log it as a separate request however because while this request is more for long term planning functionality tracking BW changes should be handled in the current product. We utilize hundreds of MultiLink circuits where if a T1 drops the bandwidth dynamically changes so we see fluctuations like this daily. Your…

Just throwing this out there but SolarWinds is developing an alert management product that will accomplish these tasks.
-
I like the idea of the delay...but not sure how it could be "if the trap is still present". Traps are singular items received by SW. Not like a monitor where status can be checked.
-
Two things that really trouble me over these pieces. One as you said they are an integral part of any effective monitoring system. The second is that the look and feel is very much like alerting but some of the basic functionality that exists in alerting isn't there (copying, exporting actions, importing actions). These…

I tried for several hours to figure out how to compare two external nodes with no luck so I instead wrote a simpler version that just checks for a valid response from an NTP server
-
And if you have been around a long while you will remember when the site looked like the 60's batman show.
-
I understand your desire to move this out of SW and into LEM. My big concern though is this is day 1 event-monitoring 101 type functionality that is in all platforms from your open/source to your mom and pop software all the way up to the big guys like HP & IBM. It really shouldn't be that hard.

Craig, I think the basis of my frustration isn't simply about a time table. I understand that can't be released. My frustration is the seemingly lack of communication from the product team on this product. A stale blog post over 6 months old doesn't instill confidence. When we "paying customers" see more communication and…

I think most people within the SolarWinds realm know I am a huge proponent of the suite of products. However I like many others have lost faith in SolarWinds backing of this product. It has been 9 months since even a minor update was released. We keep being told things are coming. I happen to live in MIssouri which is…

Wow that would be extremely helpful. I can't tell you how many times I ended up using a color code to try and make sure that the trap hit a certain rule. However I do foresee one issue. If the rule doesn't have a stop processing it could hit multiple. I put stops in all rules but I can't guarantee everyone does.
-
This should also be packaged in for free with Orion...not a separate paid for product.
-
LOL awesome. Have one of the old Thwack/Boom/Pow look for thwack.
-
Not sure...I'm stumped on day 7 myself.
-
Same here

Awesomeness all around. Congrats all.
