This could be useful for other components as well. We have some queries ran specifically for historical performance data. Doesn't matter if they fail from time to time. While we don't alert on these they still flag the screens as down which causes the NOC to question them.

I did my session a couple of weeks ago with the UX team. I had actually received a ticket to create a new rule the day before so I stepped through each part of the painful process. Manually copying a set of trap actions from another rule, moving it to where it was needed in the chain, manually setting the RGB color codes…

Hahaha. What can I say I like that Ramsay is a blunt XXXXX (Censoring myself)....lol. Reminds me of me

It's not about a view Michal its about in the manage nodes section to make it simple for bulk deletion or editing of properties. For example this past week I added 70 nodes via a discovery. On each of these nodes I have a volume called P:\Page I need to be able to do a bulk delete (from the gui I can do it via SQL which is…

The new interface looks very clean and crisp. Loving it so far. Great job all. @"danielleh"

It also is a great avenue for test/dev instances.

It's all relative. If I'm forming a new team I want a mix. I want seasoned vets as my leads and then hire/train other employees to grow into the role. Contract to hire can also be a useful tool for the senior candidates to make sure they are what you hope they are.

That's a good point the way it's setup now if it matches a rule it is processed by that rule it has no knowledge that it came from a different source it says I matched that rule I'm going to suppress.

Welcome all

Agreed my network is too large to discovery everything in one night. It has to be spread out over multiple intervals.

cmgurley wrote: Oh, and muting and maintenance should both be configurable and schedule-able via the web UI (no win32 apps). Pretty please? Great point....other than backend services everything should be web-ui.

The new season of Hell's Kitchen gets the idea

I fully agree it has been 5 months since SolarWinds reached out to me on UX testing for this and another 2.5 since provided any updates. Not only is this the heaviest receiver of votes but it has spawned dozens upon dozens of comments and has almost 3 times the views of any other idea on the boards. There are several of SW…

Congratulations.

If I'm printing a liver I don't think I'll go with one of those do it yourself refillable inks. Probably go with the name brand

Cool...it has my vote.

Finding a new solution is on my list of things to do.

It's been almost 2 full months since I did my UX session and I haven't heard anything further. I know it's not SW practice to update on features until they hit beta but if someone could provide some semblance of an update I think we'd all appreciate it.

thanks for sharing. That is close to what I need but I actually need to compare two different systems one is our internal Cisco NTP server and the other is an external system such as time.nist.gov. Any thoughts on how I could accomplish that? Don't want to put our server in the mix because if our time is off than an alert…

I consistently see Info Service v3 using up to 1.5Gb of memory so I wouldn't say it doesn't come close.

I voted for this but would prefer it all to be web based....that being said whatever method SW can accomplish quicker to keep people from using RDP the better.

Yeah some things you shouldn't wait for a poll on. Like a UPS going on battery I want that instantaneous notification. I don't want to wait for a poll.

Well I stand corrected...it does load just takes forever on a 200Mb circuit

LOL when that came in my 6yr old insisted it go in her room. Which is where it is to this day. She loves that picture.

reverse engineering from trap viewer, determine what trap rule(s) are 'hits' when processing an inbound trap I did this to some degree with the tag feature. I would tag a trap via the rule and then add the tag column in trap viewer so I could see what rule I hit. Unfortunately the tag column isn't available in the WebUI…

I have not uploaded it because it's not a SW script I schedule it as a task. I can share it with you but you would have to figure out the email notification part. I use an executable program that sends to our notification software so I don't have it written to send a raw email.

Can create a group for the business service and then add in the appropriate components. Alerting only when the entire group is down.

What's funny about this is that when I posted it I didn't believe many people felt the same way about the limitations of this part of Orion. It has plagued me for years and I hadn't seen many complaints or suggestions in Thwack. I'm glad so many people see some of the same flaws and issues....About once every couple of…

This is especially important for a customer that supports multiple networks like a Managed Service Provider. The automatic inclusion of all SNMP strings previously used makes running a new discovery painful and they all must be removed before starting.

I really need to look at ideas more often...This is fantastic. I have 4 polling engines.
