Hi Jeff, Is there a firewall that could be preventing the connection? Remote WMI connections are made through DCOM which means high numbered ports are negotiated during the connection. To answer your question, a domain account should have the permissions required to connect via WMI. Here's a link to a tech ref article on…

If NPM and NCM are on the same machine then there is no option but to integrate with NCM 7.0. The NCM installer blocks and will not allow you to continue until you upgrade NPM. The reason for this is that NCM 7.0 will update the Orion Platform ( Orion Core ) to the latest version and NPM needs to be updated at the same…

Hey SolarC, 1. You are correct. It will collect all the predefined fields you are seeing blank at the moment such as System name, MAC address ect.. 2. An IP will only be queried via SNMP if it responds first to a Ping. Secondly within the IPAM credentials you have the ability to specify the priority order in which the SNMP…

You are correct that the import no longer exists as NCM now synchronizes with an Orion platform database. Is your NCM standalone or integrated with NPM? If it is integrated you can promote Nodes to be NCM nodes within the web interface. ( Under NCM node list click manage NCM nodes to get to the management UI)

Hi, As per Christine's post ( ) this is item #4. At the moment one thing you can do is do a mass import of monitors using the export/import xml feature in the Systems Settings area of ipMonitor. Keep in mind you will need to create devices first and then set the parentid of each monitor in the xml before importing so they…

Couple of places will show you this info on the NCM website: Discovery Central /Orion/Admin/DiscoveryCentral.aspx Orion Settings / License details /Orion/Admin/Details/ModulesDetailsHost.aspx Hope this helps! Matt

This appears to be a defect and I will take care of logging it. A work around would be to create a "Smart Group" that includes monitors that match what you are looking for. Likely choosing the "Display name" property and entering "WAN" as the match will work. Then you will be able to select the monitors in the group and…

The HTML / ASP Monitor supports using a Credential to transmit account and password information using one of the following authentication methods: * NTLM Authentication (Formerly "Windows NT LAN Manager" and now called "Integrated Windows Authentication") * Digest Authentication * Basic Authentication (Clear Text) To…

Have you tried using an ipMonitor credential that has "May be used with Windows Impersonation to start an external process" enabled?

Hi Donald, You could try first exporting and then importing the subnet list into Toolsets IP Address Management tool. You can then import that database directly into IPAM. http://support.solarwinds.com/kbase/ProblemDetail.cfm?ID=1141 Import IP Addresses from Toolset To import IP addresses and subnets into Orion IPAM from…

Hi Richard, Instead of adding SNMP support to your C# application it may be easier to have it create windows events. You could then simply monitor the even logs for different Application events you have defined. If you still want SNMP support at that point you could use a Windows utility, Evntwin.exe, to forward windows…

Hi yotaguy, I suggest you do a "Node Sync" in the NCM Manage nodes page. It will likely add these two NCM nodes back into the Orion Platform database and you will then be able to delete them. Hope this helps! Matt

What options are selected under the usage restrictions for the credential you have configured? If you do not have "May be used with NTLM Authentication Schemes (Windows NT Lan Manager)" checked then give that a try. Uncheck "May be used with Windows Impersonation for use with RPC" when you make this change as that…

Hi All, <P>I've just installed IPMonitor and have a host file of around 950 devices to add. When I choose discovery and 'hosts file import', i want the devices to be listed by name, rather than IP address. It only seems to import them as IP addresses no matter how i modify the hosts file. Obviously to rename 950 devices…

Hi Kevin, Do you have a managed NPM node for each of your NCM nodes? To have nodes appear in the NCM integration module, the nodes need to exist in both NCM and NPM Perhaps this blog post will be of use: Cheers! Matt

Currently most settings are located in the registry, on my Windows 2008 R2 server, they are found at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SolarWinds.Net\Configuration Manager\Settings". However I am not 100% sure I understand exactly what you mean by "custom fields"... Do you mean custom properties? If you can clarify…

Hi csm_carras,The reason for this warning is that during the upgrade your account already existed in Orion as a virtual user. If you are taking advantage of AD groups, each user who logs into Orion will have a virtual account created behind the scenes to store settings. Just verify your AD group has the correct NCM Role…

1) We've only installed NPM on the remote poller thus far. Do I also need to install NCM on this remote poller? You must install the NCM additional poller (AP) package on the Orion additional poller server. The bits are located in the same download as the Orion additional package with NPM. 2) Can you assign nodes to…

May I ask what communication methods you have experienced this with? RPC, WMI, SNMP? All of them? Thanks!

Hi freemen, You are correct in your understanding that you should see the NCM properties in the node edit when they are already licensed by NCM via the Manage NCM nodes page. Something does seem odd in this situation as you should not see the "Add Node to NCM" checkbox when editing a node, only when adding a new one. The…

Hi Jen, How were you adding these new devices? Add new device, Express Scan or the Scan Network? The "All Managed devices" group is not a normal group which is why you can't move items to it but it should simply display all devices you have added. If new devices are not showing up could you try restarting the ipMonitor…

Hi D., One issue you will face is for NCM 7.0 it is no longer possible to have the main NCM server installed on your additional poller as it is considered a special NCM only poller. In order to upgrade you have the option of moving NCM or the additional poller to a different server. I would think moving the poller would be…

Hi Don, I will submit a feature request on your behalf to add a legend to these exported reports. I = InfoW = WarningC = Critical Regards, Matt

Hi sspca, We have not had any reports of this that I am aware of. My suggestion would be to open a support case so they can review the logfiles and help you collect further diagnostics.

Generally speaking any valid HTML webpage should work with our monitors but it is not a specific use case I have seen before. Can you provide more details about what exacly you are seeing? You may want to take a look at the debug info for the HTML/ASP monitor. See this KB for info on how to perform that ( you add &debug to…

You are correct that this is an issue because the WMI classes being queried are the Raw classes and not the Formatted ones. If you edit the component's WMI query and change the queries to use the formatted counters you will get back more relevant data. For Example for the DiskReadBytesPerSec, you would change to the…

Have you tried using an Administrator account for your Credential? This looks like it may be a permission issue. Does this happen when you try to look for events of different types in different areas?
-
Hi Stu, You are correct that this is by design. However in situations like yours there is nothing preventing you from adding all your monitors under one device as they can each have their own address and credentials. You can add a device manually for this purpose by choosing "Add device immediately without scanning" in the…

Hi Jon, Sean is correct that if you install on the same server they must be integrated and can move to a separate server if you do not wish them to be. However, if you want NCM and NPM integrated in a single pain of glass in the web UI, integration is required and the databases will have to synchronize with each other in…
