That is true. It just takes that one company to set the trend. An economist would site the Gas-Station model-- if the station across the street sales the same gas at X, the other stations often match over time.

As an MSSP engineer, I don't get into the weeds unless I have to in order to diagnose an issue. All those criteria listed are often your first suspects. Not sure that this is a correct question when it comes to real world endeavors.
