I think this is a polling issue rather than an alerting issue. The last reboot OID is the SNMP agent restart OID rather than the node last boot OID. I can't find it but there was a looooong thread on this a couple of years ago in the NPM forum before there was an FER forum. Maybe PM can expand on this? I know that there…

Great post. Thanks for the tip!

Hi bpeyton17, I'm not sure where the line is these days or how sharply it can be defined for any deployment. I'll link this over to PM so they can coment on sizing. Best Regards - Andy

It looks like I'm the guy who always disagrees with the post. My opinion is that there is equal need for generalists and specialists in IT management. Because IT management is so extensive compared to twenty years ago, I believe it is impossible to be an expert in every field. In medical sciences we have General…

Great blog article. Thanks and I love that graphic. I'm wondering if this will force Target to go through an entire re-branding.

What scenario causes you to change polling methods?
-
We did not get virtman upgraded but it looks like we just need to do the upgrade and reconnect the integration.

NetBrain is in a different league that SWI's mapping products. The dynamic L2/L3 mapping is great for troubleshooting and modeling changes. SWI offers basic mapping functionality, which I believe was their goal. NetBrain is very feature rich and not cheap. For me it is a must have.

Leon Adato, you have a typo. 10% came out as 50%/ But seriously, the ability to have lab licenses would be HUGE. It probably makes sense to limit the training licenses for no fee training only. Commercial training would still require licensing.

Very helpful! Bookmarked.

Seeing that reports and some alert functions have been "Webified", I would think that alert UI consolidation is on the stove too. Great comments. And this one is has been marked as "what we are working on" so it looks like the gears are turning.

Well of course! You weren't infering that the app actually uses CPU and mem were you??

I think that if the root cause can be identified in a reasonable time it should be examined. Recently I have live through the analysis paralysis part of root cause and it is just a pain. The information I brought to the table in this case is the exact device that caused a bottleneck and graphs showing how memory and CPU…

I think that is to distinguish that a particular team or person is a security engineer using DevOps methodologies or perhaps a DevOps engineer working only on security. We have Network DevOps here which is DevOps folk focused on network projects opposed to our DevOps engineers who focus on app delivery.

IP SLA Manager is now MPLS aware. I'll ping the PMs for the other products.
-
Hi Matt, I'd like to have a call with you and discuss this a bit further. I'll email the address on your profile. Andy

Bruce, I know it is frustrating to wait but as I stated June 10, we are continuing to work this as top proirity. Our goal is to be sure the issue is completely addressed and fixed in SP2. I'll post when we have the fix tested and ready. Best Regards - Andy

bbusbey/achrich, We do have a solid testing process in place, but we can't test for all customer scenarios. We have many customers running on 3.0 and doing fine. I know this doesn't help you out right now but be assured, we are working as top priority to eliminate the issue affecting your NetFlow deployment. I know it can…

Yes, they don't support SNMP.
-
yes - I'll ping you when Support has it.

Indeed the manufacturer has left SNMP out of the lightweight devices.. A couple of paths to investigate if a device will work in Wireless Network Monitor... 1. MIB walk the target device looking fo the 802.11 MIB (AKA dot 11 MIB) 2. Download the trial version of Wireless Network Monitor and test drive. Andy

There were a few issues which all would yield the same no data charts symptom. Support can narrow down your instance and get you going again.

Well, yes. The logic functions but it's a little like having the gas on the left and the brake on the right. You can still drive, you just need to be mindful of which pedal you are pushing.

Were looking at a Q2 release. The IP SLA VoIP functionality is in VoIP monitor today and you can use the free tool functions in Orion by using the Export UnDP function. Were looking at Avaya support too but not in this next release.
-
Hi Mark, I want to make sure this problem is eliminated. Can you open a ticket with support and reply back with the ticket #? I'll make sure this is taken care of! Andy
-
Hi Temp, Support has a fix. Andy

Here is what I am seeing. Yields the SQL SELECT Nodes.NodeID AS NetObjectID, Nodes.Caption AS Name FROM Nodes WHERE (NOT (Nodes.Status = '1') OR NOT (Nodes.Caption = 'Tok-2621.aus.lab') None should actuaally be an AND NOT. Not all should be a OR NOT.

Another thoiught on this - Are you seeing interface reindexing upon reboot? See http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk648/tk362/technologies_tech_note09186a0080134eec.shtml

OK - you twisted our arms enough! ;) IP SLA Monitor Free Tool. Also integrates into Orion. http://www.solarwinds.com/register/registrationform.aspx?Program=896&c=70150000000EQ0I

Hi Maladil, I've installed 3.0 several times and not seen that error. Support can help you through the install process. Andy
