Where in Alert Central? I could not find it.

Only if their tools are not already in place. If they have tools in place their goal shifts to preventing tool sprawl.

Splunk, Opnet ARX, NetBrain, NetQoS RA. NetBrain is the bomb. SWI should buy them. You can DL the Personal Edition for free and test drive it.

+1. This ability will depend on more granular ToD and DoW combinations.
-
I usually disable the component manually, but I can see how scheduling would make this better.

Greatr interview! Thanks Bob and Jennifer.

The answer is 9!

Upgrade Advisor failed to tell me I have to upgrade Visualization Manager before I can upgrade NPM and SAM or I loose Orion integration to Virtman. This was very disappointing and has caused a one week delay in the ability to get into another change window. I found out when I ran the NPM installer and it warned me that I…

If you add this feature, then I will be happy, else I will keep requesting it.

I'm in agreement with the other folks who say that Network Management alone cannot stop finger pointing. The problem here is that using Network Management alone to show that the issue is not in the network is attempting to prove a negative. Think of the problem of proving that there are no invisible unicorns in the room…

Third party support through companies like Loop1 Systems is a reasonable way to get tech support for customizations.

Yes, The WAN Killer tool can pump traffic by diffserv/ToS.

This post has a great tone but alas is well over a year old. The product is still on version one well after it's tenth anniversary. i had tickets open for tooltips that are dead links. This was back in April and support said the new ver of Network Atlas would fix those issues. Three months later and the bugs are untouched.…

I just got an email from a salesman stating that his product suite offers "a single dashboard of truth". Just shoot me.

My group has been making the transition from a standard Network Operations Team into a Network DevOps team over the past year. At first I had no idea what DevOps is, much less Network DevOps. The more we do, the more I understand what Network DevOps is and why it is so difficult to understand. Here is what I have come to…

Great post, Jennifer!

Not being able to represent connections into MPLS is a huge problem. Network Atlas is 10 years old now and it is still in version1! Please invest some dev into this very important feature.
-
Support told me to place an FER for this.

This maps out the pathways for upgrading NPM and modules. http://knowledgebase.solarwinds.com/kb/questions/1888/Compatibility+of+SolarWinds+Orion+Products+for+Installation+and+Upgrade

This would be great. The VNQM graphs are from somewhere around NPM 8.5.1 and are very difficult to work with. The Google Financial style pan and zoom graphs in NPM are awesome.
-
Wouldn't an NMS have to be network aware to meet the requirement of understanding to correlating alarms and performing Root Cause Analysis? Orion allows us to manually build network connections and dependencies but it would be awesome if it did this automatically.
-
Thanks! I'll look that over before our upgrade. Awesome work!! Will Configuration Wizard ever work with SSL?

Splunk is a great tool for logs. It makes it very easy to find events. Correlating events takes a bit of learning Splunk's query language but once you have that part down the flexibility is great. Splunk tries to position their product as SEIM but I think that is a stretch. I have spent weeks on LEM and I find it…

Heck, my DVR has a "Recently Deleted" folder. This gets a vote up!

Hey, I'm a network engineer.

This only sends me to surveymonkey.

It is great that you have added some other mapping features. It feels like SolarWinds is out-of-touch with what your user a screaming for - a fixed version of Network Atlas. I would swap this new mapping for Network Atlas v2 in a heartbeat. Really- stop adding fancy new features before you fix the one that are…

jblankjblank Thanks for the reply. I do understand that updating Network Atlas is a big task but as a customer it is frustrating to see dev hours going into new features while Network Atlas has had no major upgrade in 10 years. It is also frustrating to have support tell me that the bug I am dealing with (tool tips…

It is nice to "see" that these can be dimmed so low you can't see them and they still work. (sorry) Cool subject!

Cool! Thanks
