It is definitely a balancing act. Having the right tools to meet the business requirements, whether it is security or not, goes a long way to the efficiency and productivity of your IT staff as a whole and most certainly, your Security Team. It all boils down to money and asking the simple question "How much is your data…

me too. I have tried every 10 letter word I can find.

Switch Port Mapper would be the great!

My apologies for the delay in replying. We have separate groups that manage various parts of the network. My group manages the network infrastructure (WAN, VPN, Routers, Switches, Avaya PBX, etc.). Another group manages MS Lync. Though we allow them almost unlimited access to our tools I don't know that we would be…

Finally found it! It figured it was supposed to rhyme. I agree with Mike Driskell that was MUCH harder than I thought it would be.

Ok, sometimes these don't seem to make sense but after you figure it out they do. For the life of me I couldn't figure out what Spidey had to do with it. Only took me about 10 minutes but I still feel stupid. LOL syldra is right..... KEEP THINKING!!!

Moral - Even when you think you have checked/done everything there is to do, you probably haven't. Had a similar situation many years ago, intermittent and 6 hours away, that lasted for days before I found a poorly soldered power connector on a floppy drive. Go figure!

I have added contract info (contract #, start and expiration date) custom fields for our monitored devices. I also keep some spare devices in orion as external devices so I can keep up with spare inventory, contracts and other info. Having a module that would allow you to enter devices not yet in use and check a box to add…

I would like to see the user delegation so I can have everyone view the database but have some users/groups have access to update subnets they are responsible for.

I believe that they have just gone GA with a new release of the 55xx code that has IPFix as a part of the base license. Get with it SW! I'm looking elsewhere for my flow analysis!

The user who logged into the device and made the change.

I am having an issue with these reports also. First of all, they don't appear to be reporting anything close to what the SH appliances are reporting as % optimization and, secondly, if I put anything more than the last 30 minutes the report hangs at "querying database" forever. If these reports are reporting accurate data…

We currently use Nortel/Avaya CS1K equipment (hopefully moving to the Avaya Aura Call Manager soon) and would like to use VNQM for telephony info. I will be on vacation next week but will email you my contact info when I return so we can discuss the possibilities for our systems.

This is the best way I have found to work with Nortel ES/ERS switches: First, you will need to make sure your switch is using cli as the default command interface by issuing the following commands: enable cmd-interface cli wri mem Next, you will need a device template located in the \SolarWinds\Configuration…

We have seen this issue with IBM/BNT 8264 L3 switches. In troubleshooting we were informed by IBM that there was a bug in the code we were running at the time (I have forgotten waht version) regarding snmp causing cpu to spike to 100% and cause STP topology changes and once even a reboot of both core routing switches.…

I can see both sides of this. With today's dynamically changing network traffic I can see doing some automation to adjust Policy based on flow data but I also agree this could be very dangerous, unpredictable and, more importantly, difficult to troubleshoot. Forecasting traffic patterns would be even better. Alerting on…

I would like to see an answer to this as well
