I took a step further (beyond color coding). Every rule I have tags a trap with my rule name. Then when I search through traps, I can sort based on tag. This saves me a lot of time and allows me to look through only the alerts that are related to a specific triggered rule. I still need to use color coding and other means…

I use a very similar configuration only we use SCOM and HP Service Center. It is bulky, and somewhat embarassing to explain how it works. Not to mention, the people who handle SCOM are not in my group. If I need anything changed or updated, I have to re-explain this via a whiteboard and markers with fumes that make me feel…

I use the same configuration. Traps forward to event log and the an event scrubber picks up the message and alerts our NOC team. I think another feature in the same line of thinking is to have access to the Orion DB when forwarding to the event log. For instance if switch xyz sends an alert that a specific interface went…

I’m not following what you are suggesting. I don’t see an option for “This object gets its status from” within Network Atlas. How would I apply this to the map itself.
-
This concept is flawed in that your child map would then not be able to tell you if there is a problem further up the ladder. For instance, if Parent A has 2 children, B and C, I want the map of Child B to have a valid status indicator for the Parenet A. Also, I want the parent to change status if one of the children is…

Does this then qualify as a feature request?

How would you perform a notification outside of an event in the web interface. If an interface goes down and comes back up, your normal poll will then adjust the interface status to up. Unless somebody is monitoring the events you would not have any visual notification of this device being down (i.e. on the maps). Outside…

At some point I will upgrade NCM, but we have an FOE deployment that causes upgrades to be a 'not-so-friendly' process. The more I read about FOE deployments, the more anxious I am becoming to get rid of it. We have not had a lot of luck with the product and it seems to overcomplicate minor efforts like upgrading modules.…

I will try this. It would be nice if there was a feature that allowed you to make "parents" and "children" as seperate entities to make the maps more functional in that manner rather than using hidden hyperlinks. This would allow you to be a child item and see there is a problem on your parent, but not necessarily yourself.

Under the options tab > use alternate command, I typed the following command to use: show ip arp | exclude # The results of this command show the same results as previously mentioned without the line containing #-Adjacencies... The report still fails with the same errors.

After reviewing options, I found that the current version of NPM allows you to add "Muliple Series Charts - Multiple Objects ..." With this feature, I can add a multiple Universal Device Pollers Chart that shows a count of each node I want to display along with a line representing the total count of connections. I like…

According to SolarWinds Support, the version of NCM I am running is limited to how it can use the template to access the Palo Alto. The support rep stated that this is a limitation to the logic NCM has at version 7.1. Without upgrading to a later release (i.e. 7.4), there is no ability to go into configuration mode to…

Well, after a bit of research on this, I found that my understanding of the CLI output format of set was a bit flawed. Downloading the configuration from the Palo Alto via the standard commands of "show config running" or "show config candidate" within the non-config mode is a valid way of getting the same information that…

If I am not mistaken, there is a WAN deployment option that matches what you are describing. It looks like your post was several months back. If you have not yet moved to FOE, I would discourage you from doing so. Since the application is mostly DB driven, it almost seems to make more sense to do a boot from SAN option and…

If you are talking about the chart that compares startup to running, I would expect you can modify the template for the command used to download the startup config. Just make it match how the running is downloaded. This is more of a work around than a solution because you would then have 2 configs that are aquired in the…

I think I have resolved my problem. When I upgraded to the latest version of KIWI CatTools, I failed to update the device types to "Cisco.NXOS," which was not a device type option prior to the upgrade. Once I did this, I was able to get the ARP table report to run and appear to finish.
