Usually these scripts are executed on the Orion server, but the script could be a call to run something else on another server. Also, if you are using a Linux Custom Script component monitor, you can take additional actions within your monitoring script based on the results (other than just reporting the problem).

Thanks Don.

Scan - nothing responds where something was active before -> set to transient -> continue normal scanning per subnet's scan interval -> if nothing responds in transient interval -> change to available. Does that help?

I'm glad you were able to get this working. We have had other requests for being able to bulk import nodes with properties (name, community string, custom properties, etc.). I will add your case to that request. Mav

This is not on the plate for the current "What we are working on". Beyond that I can't comment on when this will be fixed. We acknowledge there is a problem there and can easily reproduce it, but I can't commit to specific road map timelines. Mav

Byron, I've pinged the dev guys for some additional comments, but I don't think there is going to be much we can do here. Are you managing the actual guests as well or just trying to monitor hosts in your vCenter? When you are collecting information from vCenter are you just not getting any data on the NATed hosts or not…

It's something we are seriously looking in to. I will contact you offline because I would like to get more detail about what exactly you would like to see and your environment.

I provided the steps to "hide" columns that you do not want displayed. Unfortunatley, this affects all subnets, not just the specific you you set it on. The short of it is, you can't do this today and I've logged the feature request. When you create a custom property, it is available for all subnets (or IPs depending on…

Does your email look like this? There is information about the specific conversations and endpoints.

Unfortunately I am not able to provide dates, but I can say that it will not be this year.

It's probably best that you open a support case for this. The information you have in the table from show users doesn't indicate DHCP leases but tty sessions.

I just got confirmation that there is a bug when using the SNMPv3 method. We do not currently have a fix scheduled for this. The only way to use the tool would be to change from SNMPv3 to v2 and run configuration, then change back to v3. I realize this is not really helpful but unfortunately that is the current limitation…

rgward, I hear you on the description column. I know we don't have an excuse for this still being a problem. I can say that it is something we are working on for the next (post 2.0) release. I replied to your other thread regarding the hierarchy. I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for here, but would really like to…

Deltona, On your first issue, are you sure UDT has the hostnames that you are searching? This should basically work and works when I try to do it in my lab. It's possible the name search isn't working because the correlation between IP and Hostname isn't occurring. Mav

That's a good question, and I'm not sure :-)

bleearg13, I assume what you saw was a reference of importing to the IPAM tool, then exporting from that and importing to Orion IPAM. This is mainly for customers who are using the free tool or the tool in the Toolset and are migrating to Orion IPAM. However, for other customers, this is a way to get more data into IPAM.…

Jasadelll, In NPM 10.2, we added a table in the database to track multiple addresses, but we are still working on fully integrating discovery, polling, and display in to the product. As you know, we cannot commit to specific dates. The "What we are working on" post is a decent indicator about active items in development…

Ok, we weren't able to re-produce the problem here so that would be good. Thanks.
-
pshanesmith, Will you please open a case with support referencing this thread? I would like us to dig into this a little deeper. Mav
-
I'm checking with development to see if they are aware of the issue. I was not aware of it before this post so I'll give y'all an update when I have more details. Mav

Disturbedguy, NPM does not provide live graphing. The reason it does not is because it's more focused on monitoring over time and the extra load on the device, network, and server would be very high if we polled that frequently. We do have a free tool that allows you to have a real-time graph that might meet your needs.…

Darryl, Unfortunately Petr is correct. Remember, this is a 1.0 product and we have a lot of things we still want to do. We have the data, now we can look at better ways to present it (reports, alerts, maps, etc.). Unfortunately, we didn't get the ConnectNow feature "for free" because of how it works, but this is definitely…

"What I really need is a droid who understands the binary language of moisture vaporators". No problem, simply add a column after the AddressMask to include the desciption column in the results (select Address, AddressMask, Comments from IPAM_Group ... ). Once you have the query where you want it, you can create a report…

The OS Configuration Guide has good information on how to configure cflow. I couldn't quickly find this on Alcatel's site (I don't have a login). But if you do, the CFlow sections starts on page 430 (good config info starts on 443) If you don't have access, you can look at it on this…

jwhite.t, Sorry for the delay is getting back to you. NPM will provide a lot of the memory, network, and CPU data but it won't have the Storage IOPS. There are also not any pre-defined reports for consolidating this information specifically to address this question. Virtualization Manager has all of this data and has great…

As pyro13g mentioned, NTA works with sFlow just fine. You would see the sFlow data in the NTA module and it would look like any other flow type (Netflow, j-flow, etc.). Mav

mkomeara, You are absolutely right that there should be a way to bulk import these. Unfortunately, the only way to do this today is to use the method Andy described. If you do create a generic script for this, I encourage you to share with the community so that other people won't have to go through this same pain. Long…

Ok, that's great to hear. Just in case someone else has a similar issue, dev did some investigation and confirmed that there is not a practical limit here (we store the data in SQL as ntext). We also did a quick test with 7000 characters and didn't have a problem. Mav

OP User, I'm sorry to hear you are having these problems. Would installing the Eval version help you in the interim while these issues are being worked out? You can download and install the eval for 30 days. I will contact you offline to discuss further and make sure you get what you need. Thanks, Mav
