gregh825, To move subnets to different groups, simply drag and drop the subnet to the desired group. You can only drap and drop in the left column where the subnets are presented in their hierarchy in the "Manage Subnets & IP Addresses" tab. Mav

You can create a subnet that covers the addresses. When you create the subnet, make sure the box for "Add IP Addresses with the subnet" is not checked. Then once you have the subnet, click "Add IP Range" on the subnet and put in specific addresses or ranges. So even though you are adding a subnet, you do not need to add…

tonyldse, NTA does not have support for receiving AppFlow data yet. Our Real-time AppFlow Analyzer free tool does support receiving these flows, but can only store 1 hour or 4 GB of data (whichever comes first). We are still judging the market demand for this new flow record type before we can add it to the NTA product.…

Leoric, have you looked at polling status with UnDP and alerting based on the UnDP? This is an old but still valid tutorial. Create a Universal Device Poller (UnDP) in the Orion Platform - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support

Hi bartman, there are three options for this problem. First, you could change the session timeout on the account (go to Settings -> Manage Accounts -> Select the account and click Edit -> Change 'Disable Session Timeout' to Yes). Second, you could pass the login credentials directly in the URL. Here is an example of how…

There are two basic things you can check. 1. Do you have the "Make this Report available from the Orion website" option checked in the report (this should be checked by default)? If not, check that option, save the report and try again. 2. Did you pay attention to the Report Group you put that report in? If you made a new…

Thanks for the request John. This is something we have heard before and will consider in a future release.

Jay, Why didn't you just change this through Edit Node? Go to Manage Nodes, select the nodes you want, click Edit Properties, then change the Polling Engine. Prior to NPM 10.2, you had to stop the services so the jobs would be re-scheduled. If you are running NPM 10.2 then changing the Engine ID should be fine and you…

Great request rgward. I've seen this with other customers as well. I've logged the feature request.

There is some content on thwack about this already, I recommend starting there. http://thwack.solarwinds.com/docs/DOC-130398 http://thwack.solarwinds.com/message/99159#99159 http://thwack.solarwinds.com/docs/DOC-39781 For APM http://thwack.solarwinds.com/docs/DOC-112968

Byrona, we are looking at making changes to alerting in the long term and I have logged this specific request to make sure we consider it as part of the new design (no promises if and when though). Unfortunately, there isn't going to be a good way to manage alerts for your customers other than for you to manually build…

Don, are you still having this problem? If so, please open a support case so we can help you get this fixed. This is definitely not an expected result from the service release.
-
tredgrove, can you provide a little more details? Does the gauge show up but no data is shown? What type of device is this (windows based server, cisco router, etc.)? Also, if you click List Resources, make sure the statistics you are expecting to see are selected. Mav

Unfortunately this is not possible today. Those are good work arounds you referenced. We would like to make this better. Can you provide a little more detail? When you say you want to exclude "VLAN ports", do you mean you want to exclude ports configured for a specific VLAN?

Patch Manager is not dead. But you are right about the release history. We were not able to deliver a major release of Patch Manager in 2014. This is not normal for SolarWinds and we are working to get on a more standard SolarWinds release cadence. This product has been under active development since the 2.0 release, but…

Have you tried to change the "Monitored port types"? This can be changed on the UDT Settings -> Advanced Settings page. This will make sure that only the monitored port interface types are included.
-
kreischl, this requires us to update our MIB database. We do this weekly based on customer request (the updates database is available on the customer portal). Do you happen to have a copy of the MIB from the copier vendor? Also, if you know the full OID, you can add it by just entering it on the previous screen and not…

What exactly are you trying to do? Knowing the tables probably won't allow you to accomplish what you are looking for. You can find the groups in the Containers table and the definition of the children in the ContainerMemberDefinition table. Mav

Are you monitoring this in SAM (APM) or NPM? Either way, you should be able to set a trigger action of "Execute an external program" or "Execute an external VB Script" from Advanced Alert Manager and run any commands you need to.
-
Thank you for the request branfarm. I've heard other feedback from customers that is consistent with your request. Of course I can't commit to a timeframe on if or when we would do this, but your request is clear and if anyone else would like this, please post here so we can gauge interest. Mav

smillgan, when you say "main server" are you referring to the NPM server? What exactly happened? Are you managing the NPM server itself? If the server loses ALL of it's connectivity then unfortunately it won't be able to send an alarm anywhere.

Great timing for your questions! In the soon to be release version of IPAM, we've expanded the options for search. See this product blog on the new features for IPAM Also, if you want to set up groups of commonly used IP Addresses, you can click on a subnet resource (for example, Top XX Subnets by % IP Address Used) then…

pyro13g, We are definitely looking at the several issues around CBQoS. I will make sure this specific scenario is covered. Can you provide a little more detail? Are you just changing the name of the policy? What specific changes are you making to the queues and priorities? Thanks, Mav
-
Have you looked at the help file for Importing IP Address from Toolset? Obviously you could run custom SQL to manually dump the data in (but you would need to key off of the subnet address).
-
tundar, are you concerned that there is an error when you know it shouldn't work (since the polling engine is down) or something else? Can you attach a screenshot or provide more details about where you are seeing this error (i.e., in a log or somewhere on the website, etc.).
-
waussery, Unfortunately you cannot simply import the IP with desired hostnames. A work around (that I haven't tested) is to update your hosts file on the Orion server with the IP and Name that you would like to see. Then use the list of IPs in the Specific Node section of Network Discovery to quickly add them all.…

Paul, Thank you for the feedback. I am the Product Manager for UDT so I will comment on that item and leave the other questions for their product managers. There are several ways to accomplish "rogue" detection. The most simply way is to alert or report on new devices. We already create a baseline of the network devices…

Have you seen these reports?

gc2011, Unfortunately this is not a feature we currently support. We have had other requests for integration with DNS, but are not currently working on those (other requests have higher priority). You can see what we are working on here: Mav

Are you managing both devices in NPM? Do you see any relevants messages in the events resource? For example, receiving flows from un-managed interface. You may want to to open a case so support can look at your configurations and make sure there really isn't something missing. Mav
