  • vivkas, has you tried configuring this in Advanced Alerts? Open Advanced Alert Manager (on the Orion server, go to Start - Programs - SolarWinds Orion - Alerting, Reporting, and Mapping) and you can configure execute external program, execute VB Script, SNMP Traps, Syslog Traps, etc. to be sent to separate system. Here is…
  • gregatkins, We tried to reproduce this in house and weren't able to see any problems. We'll need to look in to diagnostics to assist further. If you open a case, please reference the case number here the and resolution once we have one. Mav
  • AMSW, in Report Writer, use No Formatting for Status. Unknown is shown because the value like Operable is not recognized (it’s not Up or Down)
  • ccnpete, Unfortunately, you are correct. We only resolve DNS for addresses which respond to ping. I have opened a case to modify the current behavior of this mechanism. Thanks, Mav
  • lbyoung, Make sure the account has access to run the following commands: - ‘show running-config’ - ‘show ip dhcp pool’ - ‘show ip dhcp binding’ You can see this KB for the requirements. Also, you may try increasing your key length to 2048. See this article from Cisco.
  • Do you own NetFlow Traffic Analyzer (NTA)? If not, NPM doesn't have enough information about what is using the bandwidth to know this. If you do have NTA, the Top Talker with High Utilization alert is built in.
  • Unfortunately, UDT will not know what type of device. We are looking at adding support for mapping the MAC address to its OUI. This will provide some basic correlation to device type, but not 100%.
  • shaikrafi, Congratulations on your first post and I'm glad you like our DB Manager! Long term we will probably move away from it, but it certainly makes some tasks easier. Although it wasn't built specifically for this, yes you can attach to other, Non-SolarWinds databases with it. Mav
  • jarober22, You should open a support case so they can assist with troubleshooting. We have a tool that can be run from UDT against network devices to see if they support the MIBs we need. If you run that against the 2960/50, it should tell you if that is where the problem is. Are you running relatively recent IOS code on…
  • You might be best served to open a support case here, but a few suggestions: * Make sure the flows are actually getting to the collector (you can use wireshark to verify this with the 'cflow' filter. * Make sure the IP that you are managing the node with is the same as the IP that the traffic is being sent out on. * Check…
  • Thanks for the feedback Josh. Unfortunately as you pointed out, this is something we are currently discarding. We are working on some significant back end performance enhancments that will allow us to store significantly more data and we will re-evaluate this at that time. I opened a feature request to track this for you.…
  • There are some minor updates to this, but we made this available in the UI so it would be easy for customers to update. Do you feel that the data is really inaccurate or are there specific examples that you would like updated?
  • There are a few ways to solve this problem. If possible, configure your device to send from the same interfaces you are managing the device with. You can do this on most Cisco devices with the source command "flow-export source ... ". If your device doesn't support this, then the easiest thing to do is to manage it from…
  • D_r, How large is the .ipdb file? When you launch IPAM, do you see any subnet names on the left column? At the top of the window (above File, Edit ...), do you see the correct filename displayed? What OS are you running? Just to be clear, when you create a new DB file, add subnets and save, the next time you open the db,…
  • lchance, are you logging any events from your hosts or vSphere? Maybe there is a way to capture the vMotion as part of the syslog message? Mav
  • We recognize this is a significant pain for customers. Unfortunately, there is not much more I can say other than, we are looking at addressing this in a future release. This is a known limitation that needs to be addressed.
  • UDT determines status of a port based on the polling job. By default, we poll every 30 minutes. You can modify the polling rate for each node or globally.
  • Try increasing the time interval from 15 minutes to an hour or to today (simply click the blue down arrow to change this in the web page). On the NTA home page, do you see a timestamp for last flow received? Here is a screenshot from our online demo with the Last Flow Received column highlighted. If you see never for all…
  • clhebdon, I haven't testes this directly so I can tell you with certainty, however, I do not think this will work. Do you see any events in the NTA log about receiving traffic from unmonitored interfaces or unmanaged nodes? NTA needs to match interface ID in the flows with interface IDs for interfaces in NPM to properly…
  • Len, There are a couple of ways to solve the problems you are describing. Splitting the database to a seperate server is certainly a work around, but it is still probably not the best solution (for the reasons you mention above). This is a well known issue with many NetFlow collectors and one we have a few options we are…
  • bleearg13, I've never heard anyone complain about this, but it certainly makes sense. Unfortunately I'm not positive if this can still be manually changed. I'll check with dev to see if they can change the colors. Mav
  • For people who are new to LEM and want to do a quick search, the best way is to go to Explore -> nDepth ->Change from Drag & Drop Mode to Text Input -> Type in search query (ex: IP) As you become more familiar with how data is normalized and the relevant fields, you can simply drag the fields you need to the query builder…

  • Phil, are you able to get resolution of these IPs from the Orion server? If you do nslookup on the sever does it resolve them correctly? Do you have other controllers or APs in your network were this is working correctly?
  • Although the option for filling out the custom field is present when you edit a single address, if you try to do this for an address with available status, you'll get an error. If an address is available, you cannot track any information about it (otherwise we would consider it used from a licensing perspective). We have…
  • netnerd, this is a great question so nobody is going to laugh at you here :-) The data gets stored in the database from the poll time. So the timezone that the poller is configured for is what you should look at. Mav
  • gmherring, You are correct in saying we use the 'show ip dhcp pool' command to find information regarding the DHCP pools. This was introduced in 12.2(8)T. For the devices having a problem, please try to run this command directly and see what response you get. Are those other devices running DHCP? Mav
  • Are you sure the scopes do not exist on any DHCP severs? Try deleting the subnets again, and if they show back up, add the column for the Scope Name and see where they are coming for and double check that the scope does not still exist. Mav
  • I'm sorry, but can you please provide more information or include a screenshot so we can better understand your question? Do you want to see multiple interface charts on one page? If so, create a new view (Settings -> Add New View) and add several copies of the Custom Object Resource. Within that resource, add the relevant…
