  • Rene, Are you trying to do offline activation of your new license or does the server have internet access? Also, what version of IPAM and NPM are you running?
  • I looked around and there appears to be some known issues with this device. I recommend trying to add the device with SNMPv1. As of 10.2 we started shipping an SNMP walk utility with NPM. You can find it here: C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion Try running these and post a screenshot or details about the responses you…
  • Chris, take a look at this thread. Simply post the information we need and we'll get it added for the next release. Mav
  • Bill. we have had mixed results with the ASA. As part of the 1.0.1 release of UDT, there is a tool call the UDT Compatability Checker (\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\UDT\UDTCompatiblityChecker). If you run that, it will tell you what information we can pull from the device and what we can't. If you send us the…
  • This is something we are currently working on but you cannot do this today. You can look at the what we are working on post for more information on what we are working on.
  • Ben, You can change the system defaults by going to Setting -> Orion Thresholds. This will change the thresholds for ALL nodes or interfaces (depending on the threshold you are modifying). Mav
  • This sounds like more of a problem with NPM not recognizing the sub-interfaces so I've moved it to the NPM forum. I'm not aware of any issues with or support of sub-interfaces on Palo Alto. More than likely we would need to look at an SNMP walk of the device to confirm.
  • By "status of a subnet" I assume you mean the number of Used / Available addresses, is this correct? Does the "Top 10 Subnet by % IP Address Used" resource on the IPAM homepage provide the information you are looking for? Obviously in your large environment 10 is probably not sufficient, but if you create a new page and…
  • Thanks again for the continued feedback everyone. We are actively working on some plans. It's a little early to go in to much detail on thwack, but we will be reaching out to most of you in the next month or so for feedback on these changes.
  • Dentifrice, this is a known issue. We have identified the issue and will have it fixed soon. Thanks, Mav
  • I'm not sure if you will be able to get this information from the NTA data. Can you provide a little more context on the exact problem you are trying to solve and what type of devices you use?
  • We generally don't support having pollers deployed at remote locations. You need to have very low latency between the remote poller and the main NPM server / database. If you have LAN like quality, then you will probably be good. This is a good document about the required ports. You could also use a direct VPN to the site…
  • This may not be the best answer, but you can export the map and then parse it for the name list. It won't be pretty, but might be able to give you what you are looking for.
  • I assume you are talking about a specific guest and not the host. Do you see any other SNMP statistics from the server? For example, does CPU and Volume polling still work? Try adding the node again and see if that clears up the issue. The host uses a different method to detect the NIC which is why it works there but not…
  • bracyc, you can launch the Syslog Viewer application (Start - Programs - Solarwinds Orion - Syslog and SNMP Traps) on the server, but there doesn't exist a similar option for the website.
  • dsrpinger, sorry for the delay in getting back with you. In general, this could be a problem with the template you are using. See this thread to make sure your configuration is right. Mav
  • purdue98, this is a great question. NPM versions need to be the same across polling engines. But no, the OS versions do not need to match up across pollers. You can safely run 2008 on one poller and 2003 on another. Mav
  • There were issues with searching on ranges in NTA 3.7. We have fixed it in the next version. If you are an existing customer, we can include you in the Release Candidate which is coming up very soon.
  • What version of SQL are you running? Are you running SQL on a separate server? This just sounds like the actual database that stores everything (all polling data). Some customers have a lot of traps and that fills up their database more quickly. You could try decreasing the number of traps or traps retention period (in the…
  • SolarC, What version of IPAM are you running? Also, if you do an nslookup against those addresses from the DOS prompt, does the server return the expected name or (in your example) Management1? Try flushing your DNS cache and see if that changes the behaviour (from command line, ipconfig /flushdns). Mav
  • This is happening because the source IP of the flows needs to match an existing node. On Cisco devices you can change the source interface used to send the flows from. I'm not sure if you can do the same with the Brocade switch, but I imagine there is a way. Is there a command for slfow source ?
  • hhernandez, There is not a way to formally uninstall individual Tools from the Toolset. What exactly are you trying to accomplish? You could use Windows policies to prevent users from running specific programs. Also, you can simply delete the shortcut from the start menu. Lastly, I do not recommend this but you could delete…
  • There is an internal limitatoin to how much a single polling engine can poll. So if you have really good hardware, you might run in to a situation were the software is the limit and not the hardware it is running on. For more details about the polling calculation, I suggest starting with the following blog post.…
  • Have you seen this KB? knowledgebase.solarwinds.com/.../Cisco DHCP device requirements for Orion IPAM Make sure your device responds to all of those commands and the credentials you are using have rights to execute show run
  • jwenzel, Unfortunately this is not enough information for us to tell you why there is such a large discrepancy. If you could provide us a PCAP of the traffic, we could quickly get to the bottom of this problem. In general, Toolset send pings much more regularly than NPM does (NPM defaults to ever 2 minutes). So you might…
  • It appears your routers are not all discovered. When you run Port Discovery, there is a check box to scan for layer 3 information. When we scan the node, we look for the ipForwarding flag to see if there is layer 3 information available. Unfortunatley, many devices (such as Layer 3 switches) respond negatively to this…
  • Donald, I'm happy to say you are wrong :-) There was another thread about that, here is the relevant bit: UDT is licensed by number of UDT ports. This has no impact on your NPM element count. For example, if you are monitoring 2 interfaces on a switch in NPM, then you monitor all of the ports in UDT, your NPM element count…
  • dsandy, 1. You do not need Netflow configured on the router to poll for CBQoS information. However, the CBQoS polling features are only present in our NetFlow product. You can enable CBQoS collection by clicking Manage Sources on the Netflow tab, then click the check box for CBQoS for the relevant node. 2. We currently…
  • mezdem, Thanks for reporting this. This is a known bug. We are looking at getting this fixed for the next release. Thanks! Mav
  • Yes, we fully support collecting flows based on sflow. What exact switch model are you trying to enable it on? See this previous thread on the subject: Mav
