brewcity, It looks like you did not deactiate your license. You can find directions here and a video here. If after looking at those resources you still need assistance, please open a ticket with Customer Service. Customer Service also has a FAQ on resetting licenses which can be found here. Mav

Thanks Rachel, the audit trail is definitely something we get a lot of requests for. Can you tell me which specific events are the most important for you to audit? For example: add node, delete node, un-manage node, add/delete interfaces, add/delete accounts, etc. What are the most important events for you to audit? Mav

Great request, I've logged this.

pyro13g, have you tried this again in NTA 3.8? Chris, sorry for the basic question, but did you confirm that NTA was set to collect CBQoS information from the device and interface? If you click Manage Sources on the NTA home page, you should see an option for CBQoS. Make sure it's checked for the devices and interefaces…

Jon, we've had a lot of feedback regarding the changes to the CPE when it was moved to the web. Because of this feedback, we are working on updating this implementation. If you have some time I would be happy to walk you through the changes. Also, we plan to do an RC soon with these changes if you have time to test in your…

Larry, do you mean the alert shows up on some nodes where you don't expect? Right now, the watchlist alerts you when the item shows up in the MAC address table of any switch. We are looking at modifying the behaviour so the priority is the device shows up for directly connected devices first. If you do a search for the IP,…

Thanks for the replies everyone! I'll be reaching out to you individually to talk about this subject in more depth.

Jeff, I've logged your request to have more granular control over node status. Today, node status is determined with ICMP (ping). If SNMP is not working for a node, then the only way we really know this is we aren't able to poll the interface information (and therefore you get the gray "Unknown" box). Would you prefer the…

NPM 10.4.1 is primarily focused on the web based custom property editor (CPE). We received some strong feedback about the migration of the old Win32 CPE and worked quick to address those by making big changes to the web based CPE. We also have a few fixes from NPM 10.4. We should have the full release notes posted soon.

Henrik, I believe you are referring to the feature where if you have a node with several interfaces, we try to determine if this is really the same node instead of adding the same node with a different IP. If you want to manage the same node several times but with different credentials, that's always been possible. I might…

We haven't added this yet but it's something we are looking at. We recently introduced a new way to track feature requests from thwack, head on over and vote if this is important for you. http://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/1053

I hear you guys. We're aware of this limitation and are looking at modifying it in the future. Mav

hhernandez, this should not be happening. If you are still experiencing this, I recommend you call support. swack, if your scans aren't running, please make sure scanning is enabled at the subnet level. Click Manage Subnets, select a subnet, click Properties. At the bottom you should see an option for Automatic Scanning,…

Thanks for the details about what you are trying to accomplish. We know there are a lot of enhancements that can be done for the scheduled discovery. Unfortunately this is not in 10.2 and probably not coming in the release after that. You can refer to case 90602 if you want to check the status of this in the future. Mav

Andy is absolutely correct. It appears you are not running the latest version of NPM. We shipped NPM 10.2.1 at the end of the year and have some performance improvements there which should help make sure you are completing your polling at the set intervals. Mav

If you want to require SSL, you can follow the below steps (after you enable SSL). When the flags are enabled, only SSL access is possible (since Orion will only accept https cookies). By default, the web.config file is store in the root website folder of Orion (ie: c:\inetpub\SolarWinds\web.config). To enable secure flag,…

James, These are all great suggestions. Keep them coming! We are planning on covering the reporting questions with the "Expanded schema for Alerts and reports" item in the above list. Some of the VLAN items we are currently looking at (like searching for items in a VLAN), but the SNMP set for VLAN is definitely not going…

Jon, There are some fixes available in an upcoming service release that should address the IPT issues. I'll make sure you get this when it is available. Regarding discovery taking long, this is actually an issue with the Orion Core Discovery. They are trying to get this fixed for their next release. In the meantime, the…

Hank, Great feedback! For the first release of UDT we focused on HP and Cisco support. However, we tried to leverage industry standards where possible to get broader vendor support. I only mentioned CDP up there but LLDP is something we are also looking into. CDP is just slightly higher priority and I didn't want to offer…

Thanks for the feedback Don. Are there any other enhancements to the search results page you would like to see? One ideas we are considering is adding the Port Discovery advanced options to the search results so people could parse through all of the available data easier (and add an option for VLAN). On the PDF problems, I…

This is something we are working on to improve (allowing users to select direct connections only). Most resources should prioritize this connection part by default. What area is giving you the most problems?
-
look4u, Unfortunately, IP SLA Manager will not give you this exact information. However, this information appears to be available via SNMP. If you are familair with our custom pollers, simply browse to 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.189.1.3 and grab the table. If you aren't familair with our custom pollers, you can watch this video to…

SJA, If you haven't already, please post those unknown device sysObjectIDs to this thread? Other than that, Nandish is spot on. If you can provide more details about CPU, Memory, and Interface counters, we can look at adding those in the future. Mav

We’re all aware that bad actors are continually looking for ways to gain unauthorized access to your systems. You need to pay attention to your environment and the way it is secured. We recommend that you segment your network, limiting privileges and allow appropriate access from the Orion server to the Orion database.

Unfortunately IPAM does not gather any detailed DNS information (other than hostname) so as adeimel said, this would be a manual process that you would have to set up and just store the information in the IPAM database.
-
DSchratwieser, Are you saying that IPAM is reporting full used subnets when that is not true? Also, when you say SuperScope, do you mean you want to pull that information from MS DHCP or that you want to create a Super Scope in IPAM and only see utilization of that SuperScope? Mav
-
Good suggestion nbjeter3. I assume you use the same credentials for all servers. Is that right?
-
There is not a good way to do this today, that is why this thread exists, to solicit feedback and make sure we cover as many people's requirements as possible so we can make it better in the upcoming release. Based on some preliminary conversations, most people simply want fields to be updated with the subnet and to…

Thanks for the offer guys! We'll be contacting you directly offline for a UI review. Anyone else?

I had dev take a quick look at your case. They are still investigating but have some ideas of why you are seeing this. We'll update you with more information soon. Mav
