Ah thanks for this, will have a read through. I'm starting to think we're missing config, will have a look into it further.
-
Ah thank you. Just needed clarification.
-
No the only testing we've done, is checking the device's logs themselves and they fine. If they weren't we would have had plenty of complaints about the network. How would I go about running a test from the poller?

cjfranca thanks for your advice. I had already tried this but the issue was with several services starting that would continually fail. I resolved it by doing a complete uninstall (inc. reg file deletion and IIS removal etc.) and then fresh install it is now back working. For how long is the next question... Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. 1. Status of the licensing seems fine. 2. Checked the database manager and it was able to connect fine. 3. I ran through the full configuration wizard and the following error occurs: 4. In terms of access nothing has changed and all accounts used to install are being used and have full rights. I was…

Thanks for your reply bobmarley. This just shows a number 1 next to each node in the column rather than the total listed. I want the report to show specific down nodes (which i've got to work) and display somewhere on the report, how many are on the list.... Can't seem to find it anywhere. :S

Sorry I am unable to upload the wireshark capture but we have tried using it and it shows the highest traffic is between the NPM server and the database server which makes sense. It doesn't show anything specifically high, it just shows the nodes etc that the server is pulling information from. I'm aware that the highest…

The process that is the highest contributor to the CPU load, is the information service. When you break it down under the resource manager it shows the IP of the SQL server and that's all the information I can seem to see. Doesn't really narrow it down.

So I just checked the alerts through Solarwinds like you said and I am now confused. There are alerts that did seem to trigger over the two days whilst the emails stopped. However, there are a lot of alerts that seem to be missing, even now (even though it's up and running). I went back to the last email that did come…

Could you post the thread you mentioned? Thanks.
-
Thanks Tony that's great, never thought of using the demo thanks.
-
That's it thanks, would you happen to have them for the other three tabs?
-
Excellent, I'll look into that. thanks.
-
Thankyou for your reply David. That seems to have cleared it up. I know pricing can be account specific but would you know roughly how much an APE license would be? Thanks for the phone call offer appreciate it. I will defo contact you if I need to discuss. Matt
-
Thanks for the reply nglynn - due to server restrictions we will probably have to get a separate server. Thanks for the suggestion though. From what i'm reading (though i'm still none the wiser really) I think I will need to purchase an APE license
-
Thanks for the reply yellowtj - so is it a specific APE license you have used for the separate pollers?
-
Thanks for your reply, right that explains what I was told. So If I wasn't going down the stack route and just added an APE as a separate server, do you know if I would need an extra license for it - though we have the unlimited NPM license?
-
Hi thanks for your reply. So would I still need an extra license if I already have the unlimited license for NPM? Matt
-
Thanks for the reply. So when you say I don't need an additional license... I can basically set up a new VM as the APE and use our existing unlimited license? Matt
-
Ah there we go thanks. I just mean moving from one SQL database (2005) to another one on a different server (2008). I could only seem to find the admin guide for the latest version. Could you possibly send the link to the admin guide for 10.7? Thanks for your help.

This isn't a bad idea, however it doesn't combat accidental deletion. I know if this is in place then you shouldn't even be clicking the 'delete' button, but you still could. Even if a 'recycle bin' option was implemented that could be customised. Automatically empty after so many days, weeks, months... or manual emptying…
-
That's the info I needed. Thanks for your help.
-
I have had a quick look through yes, thanks. I think we are going ahead with the 3 anyway, so that's good. I haven't set up NTA before and was wondering how it is set up. There seemed to be loads of instances of NTA stuff within the current NPM SQL database files that we have. It looked as if they were just one big…

Unfortunately this required a Solarwinds support log in session to our server and they sorted out the problem. For us it wasn't a simple fix, they were on the machine for quite some time. You're probably best doing that if possible.
-
Hey thanks for the advice. I had issues changing the nodes to the new poller, it kept crashing the website for some reason. I have rebuilt the VM with NPM installed on and this has resolved the issue.
-
Unfortunately I wasn't able to resolve this. It required a remote session with the SolarWinds team who had to basically reinstall everything . It took a while as well. I'd recommend logging a call with them. Sorry it's not much help.
-
Hi neomatrix1217 thanks for your reply. So when I tried to delete it from the web console, it did nothing at all. It refreshes and was still there. You can't change the polling method, because it no longer exists and will result in an error. I have found the table in the DB (AgentManagement_Agent) that references the old…

Not sure if this helps or if you have already solved it but... If you put your site names under city then open the 'state' view in a new window(when all sites display), then copy the link information after your google file location, from the browser path and add that under the custom HTML instead. This will open the second…

Has anyone found a way to show a yellow 'warning' status icon, if only one node is down at a site, rather than just turn it red? On the SolarWinds Map it will only turn red if the whole site is down, which is useful at a wider glance. At the moment, we can't tell if the whole site has gone down, or if only one node has…

Thanks for the input guys. Appreciate the advice. Think I'll speak to our server team and see if they can sort us out with a VM.
