Thanks for all your help @silverbacksays, will have a read through this stuff and try any get to the bottom of it!

Perfect. You are the man. Thanks for your help, that's exactly what I needed! @tmiller_hockey sorry for hi-jacking your post and thanks!

Great ok. So I shouldn't have any problems migrating and shouldn't need to 'separate' anything as I first assumed (from an SQL point of view). It's just that the FSDB gets moved to a different server which then takes care of the flow records, ultimately freeing up resources on the other servers. Think i've got it? Thanks…

It has only happened the once to us and the re-install solved it and it was around 3-4 months ago, so I can't remember much about the logs to be honest. I know it's not the best solution if it kept happening, but what I did resolved our fault.

No problem. If you need any more info let me know. Another thing that was highlighted (which I don't think caused the problem) was our anti-virus. Anti-virus that's installed on the server can apparently cause an incomplete installation. I actually attempted a complete re-install with the anti-virus disabled and it didn't…

Right ok, thanks for the advice. I hope they haven't added too much stuff with SAM otherwise the integration is off!
-
Ha no worries. Thanks for this.
-
Ah thanks, i'll give this a go
-
Ah righty. I've run continuous pings like you said and you are right, it's dropping pings continuously on there but totally fine on my machine itself. We don't have QoS enabled. Any way to combat this?
-
That's what I need. Thanks very much.

Ye I can log into console no problem. I've turned the firewall off completely on the server and no joy. The datebase is on the same network and as far as i'm aware nothing has changed. It is very odd. I'm going to do some more digging to see if our server team have changed anything recently because the reboot has obviously…

jvb thanks for this and your help! That's definitely progress. My only problem now is that it is displaying ALL down nodes and not how many are actually on that specific report. I have a custom property in place to only show me specified down nodes, is there a way to count the number that the report lists?
-
We are currently on version 10.7. Well we only use SNMP on routers to be honest, the rest of our nodes are monitored through ICMP. When checking the alerts it shows both ICMP and SNMP results, but as I said they are random. For example a few days ago it only shows around 8 alerts on the alert page, but when I check the…

.... thanks David.

That's what I wanted to hear I'm a little confused as to why I was quoted an entirely new unlimited license for this purpose, which seems to defeat the point of an 'unlimited' license.
-
Ah great, that's all I need. Thanks you guys.

Thanks for the info, will check this out

This part of the FAQ confused me: Q: Do I need SQL installed on the machine that the NTA Flow Storage Database will be installed on? No, NTA Flow Storage Database is not a SQL DB. So that is saying that NTA will be using the SQL database of NPM, but will be storing the flow records on the separate server as you said? So…

This is what it was showing under Agent Settings. The name BFWPAP11 was the temporary name of the new server. The name no longer exists because it was changed to the old server name (for the polling to work again). Under the DB table when you find this referenced, it also has the temporary IP that was used whilst we built…

silverbacksays sean.martinez I've resolved it! I uninstalled and deleted every trace of Solarwinds on the server including Solarwinds IIS information and all solarwinds registry files. Run the installer again and it is now back working. Very odd, not sure what happened. Just afraid to reboot now. Thanks for your help all…
-
Ye I used the same account the first time around and had no issues. I'll try a few more things and if I still get no where, I'll do that. Thanks for your help guys.
-
I know what you're saying but you're essentially using a forum and knowledge database for technical help, news and other helpful items and you get free points for doing it, you're not really 'working' for the points. If you were filling out questionnaires or having to share social media posts continuously and give your…

Nothing stood out and a restart didn't do anything at all. I think some files had messed up, but pin pointing it wasn't so easy. The fresh install of both solved the problem and wasn't too much hassle.
-
Nice. Impressive. My database skills are lacking but might give it a go. Fingers crossed. Thanks!
-
Ah shame. Thanks for the reply. Ye hopefully it will get implemented in a not too distant update.
-
Good point, maybe the active maintenance could include a single or limited amount of SCP spots; even if it's just one. A lot of IT departments have dedicated Solarwinds administrators and at least it could cater for them.
-
This literally got resolved yesterday, your timing is incredible I was informed that it was pretty uncommon and some of the support techs hadn't even seen it before. It was finally resolved by a developer who created a customised .DLL file for us. After replacing the existing .DLL file it resolved the issue. I think the…

Great ok. I have only really concentrated on the NPM and NTA stuff, so I don't know too much about SAM at the moment, but if you can do that, that's better than starting again. Thanks daveb7114 Appreciate your help guys.
-
Ye I was think we may need to do that, i'm just not sure how much data they would need to re-input, I might log a support ticket to see if it is at all possible. Thanks for the reply.

Ye we used to have a VM environment but due to performance issues we switched to physical servers. I'm just wondering if a VM and physical server mixed together is best practice, or doesn't it really matter?
