I am starting to figure out Orion Maps and this video is a great starting point IMO - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9T1VlIvAfdo

Greetings. If you are not familiar with creating dashboards I would recommend starting here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9T1VlIvAfdo I have been using Solarwinds for quite some time and have started education myself on Modern Dashboards over the past week or so. This video is great as a foundation to start from. It is…

I am starting down this voyage right now. I was able to get my APIs setup so Solarwinds reaching a little bit into Azure but have yet to figure out how to monitor the SQL databases. If I get it figured out I will post here or maybe someone else will have it figured out.
-
Greetings THWACK. It looks like we had some old parts of VMAN that were still hanging out on my MPE and it was causing issues. Once we discovered this and removed the old application the APE was able to get installed.
-
Thank you. I will be sharing this with our patching team.
-
Holy crap I got it to work.
-
Or does anyone know what account should be in the "Cloud Account Display Name"? I have tried to search for the Test Connection error and it directs me to a Solarwinds Document that is not very helpful at all. Thanks.
-
I deleted everything I did yesterday and started from Scratch. I followed the links between Solarwinds and Microsoft and guess what it still does not work. Anyone have any ideas or should I just utilize O365 and they built in monitoring they have?
-
I think my brain is putting all things clustered into this. Our DBA team has setup AG monitoring in DPA but our Patching Team was wondering about monitoring these AG in Orion. I just kind of tossed them altogether and figured they are the same. Sorry about that LOL
-
Thank you. I shared this with our patching team and let them know to hop on into THWACK.
-
Do you know if I can do this outside of DPA or does a SQL AG need to be setup in DPA to work? Other things cluster so I am curious if we can do this with something in Orion. Not sure if all my DBs are in DPA and right now I cannot spend any additional money on DPA licensing. Thanks!

I did find a bunch of old reports in Orion that were running with old domain credentials but the times that they were running were a bit off. I disabled all of them to see if that clears things up. I will hunt through SAM and see if something goofy is going on there.

Nothing logged in the SW MPE but all my DCs lit up again and this looks like it is happening every 12 hours. It happens at 3AM but not as much. The odd thing about this is the account that failed the login is the MPE name - not a service account or anything like that. I checked and there is nothing scheduled on the MPE.…
-
Thank you both. I will start my checklist and let you know how it goes. It is a really odd issue that I finally had time to look at yesterday.
-
I know we use this and have some massive Excel Spread sheets for VM Tagging. Are you going to make this easier? Yaay!
-
This is why I really enjoy THWACK. I read all of your answers and now am thinking why do I need a secondary SMTP server we have other options. Thanks everyone!!!
-
Yeah I have tried running that but it never works for me. Or Maybe I just don't understand it.
-
We were just discussing this during a meeting this morning. We use VMWare Tags to ID who owns a VM. We were looking for a way to have Solarwinds look at the TAG, see the email address associated with it, then send an email to that group about the snap shots. Tagging would be amazing to get added. Thanks! Dave
-
Yeah the new/alternate server is just running the the O365 connections so Orion did not get bogged down. Glad I could help!
-
cmazko When it comes to making documents look 'pretty' I am not the person. I think my MS Graph issues might be me understanding what it is and how it interacts with Orion. So when I get to focus a bit more on MS Graph the light bulb should hopefully turn back on. Let me know if you need anything else on this.
-
Finally have this setup and working. Another part of the issue is I did not fully understand how our DHCP Supercluster was designed but after some updates and some testing with support I have this figured out. So we have two data centers that we have failover configured for. DC1 DHCP1 and DC 2 DCHP1 are the failover…

So this morning on 'Is Solarwinds going to work' I had users logging in and NCM was reporting it was not to date and needed to be updated to load. It also looks like alerts stopped then restarted again. I still have my snapshots from last week before I did the update and if these problems continue to happen I may revert…

Let me know if this helps at all jhendri1 You are probably like me and are trying to wrap your head around how do we monitor O365 using Solarwinds? You have read the links in THWACK and went over to the Solarwinds Solutions center and found some links on the solutions center as well but how does it fit altogether? If you…

I am just going to upgrade the IPAM module on Thursday. Yeah if I would have know that the version of IPAM I am running was not supported it would have made a ton of sense. BUT I did figure out (DUH on my part) that because the Orion server is not in the same Domain as the DHCP server I had to create local accounts. So…

Depending on how my day goes I might be able to get something quick by tomorrow.

hendersonwa - Yes we are running NTA and I did the upgrade to SQL when I updated to NTA 4.4. I am in agreement with you on the NTA 4.4 upgrade to SQL and it causing problems and I have been thinking about that as the core of the issue this whole time. Things were rock solid prior to updating NTA to SQL now that NTA is on…
-
And now removed the Solarwinds SQL server from DPA.
-
hendersonwa - I actually had a ticket open because one of my DBAs found some indexing issues in the Solarwinds Database and we reached out to Solarwinds for support - and this got passed out to development and I have not heard a peep since. Part of me is thinking this DB issue is related.

For those playing at home to get to the permissions checker - (Drive that has Solarwinds installed) \Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\orion\OrionPermissonChecker.exe Ran it and the only two errors were the Network Service could not write to C:\Windows\Temp - so ran the fix and now it has access. Still having all the same…
