There is a suggested answer here but I have not tested this.

During polling, Orion NPM sends a SNMP GET request to each network device to poll the specified MIB objects. Received responses are then recorded in the Orion NPM database. Orion NPM uses MIB OIDs as references to retrieve specific data about SNMP-enabled, managed devices.

This is something dev is working to fix. There is also a workaround for this issue. Please add the device through it’s hostname, then, once added, go into the devices Node Details and change the IP Address to read correctly.

The Excel report will be more accurate as compared to the chart values. The report calculates the values directly from the database, where the chart plots the values to the graph with some rounding off which is why you see the small difference. A similar topic was previously discussed here

Has anyone successfully hooked up a Wavecom Fastrack Supreme GSM modem to ipMonitor 9 for SMS alerting? We've been suggested this model by a local reseller and I want to make sure it is going to work before buying it. Thanks - Simon Simon- Did you setup the alert via this?…

There are some steps in this thread

You will first need to upgrade to 7.85 then to 8.5.1- the DB schemas have been changed and this could be why the backup is failing. see the references from these posts-

If a new name is used for the new Orion NPM server, it is added to the database as a new polling engine. All current nodes remain assigned to the old polling engine name.

There was an issue that required double quotes to execute an external program, I believe addressed in SP3. If the command does not start with a double quote character ("), then the engine will wrap the whole thing, parameters and all, in double quotes before executing it. To prevent this, make sure that the program name…

From the System Manager Select Alerts->Configure Basic Alerts from the Network Performance Monitor menu. Then click on the "New Alert" button. Select "% CPU Utilization" as the property to monitor. Have you tried a repair on 2.0 framework install? You might also try adding that account as Admin for the TFTP service only>? Remember that you must be logged on to the Toolset computer with an administrator account to successfully run all of the tools

Decrease the polling frequnecy on the nodes in question. What else is ocurring on the DB at this time? Anymore details about the timeouts?

here are the steps- support.solarwinds.com/.../ProblemDetail.cfm

this is a known issue for 8.1 and only affects the Testing of the Alert for the Advanced alerting and does not affect the actual alerts. It has been fixed in 8.5-
-
It should be just a straight upgrade depending on what version of NTA you have now?

Is this a clean install? Have you tried using a different DB name>? The ConfigurationWizard.log file could tell us more. C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion -> ConfigurationWizard.log
