Let us know how it goes and if you need any further clarification with the process.

Since you are using SSL go into Edit \Inetpub\Solarwinds\Orion\custom.config and change the port to 443.

This is what I found about that error- support.microsoft.com/.../en-us You might try Snare..

What is the case number that you have so I can ensure that it is linked with the current test track for the hanging issue?

We have a workaround for this. The current work around if you have devices reporting 100% CPU, but they are actually performing at a lower rate is: 1.) Open the Orion System Manager: 2.) Right click on the device in question 3.) Go to Node Details 4.) From here adjust the statistical polling interval to a higher value…

I too am surprised that this hasn't been addressed by SolarWinds. We are aware of this issue and it will be addressed shortly after the 8.5 release- Below are some of the suggested workarounds which may help: Try switching the device from SNMP v2 to SNMP v1 and attempting to poll again. It may simply be that is cannot…

Mark, How do you get rid of the NTA fields added to the Netperfmon database? Robert If you are trying to delete all of the NetFlow data from your database the easiest way is to stop both of the NetFlow services on your Orion server, open the Database Manager and expand the NetPefMon database tree. Double click on the…

The .zip contains the redistributable version of SQL Express. The v4 .zip was the same size.

and don't forget the v 8.1 Hotfixes- ftp://ftp.solarwinds.net/Orion/Hotfixes/Orion8.1Hotfixes.zip Be sure to read all ReadMe's!

Are you using 8.5? Orion 8.5.x no longer uses the nightly maintenance file "NetPerfMon-Maint-datehere.log" for logging the detailed activity of Maintenance routine. I believe it is normal for "NetPerfMon-Maint-date_here.log" just to state that it started. How do the remaining files looks? The swdebugmaintenance.log file…

These gauges provide the average response time experienced during the current monitoring period set by the polling interval. Minimum and Maximum Response Time = one gauge displays the minimum response time, or latency, experienced over the selected node during the current monitoring period, and the second gauge displays…

what is the case number? I can try to get a status update for you. That SQL collation fix came out in March of 2007 and is now rolled into the 8.5.1 release. I believe it was a SQL DMO issue.

Merely a suggestion here but from what I’ve seen in previous cases similar to this that the problem was a corrupted .Net version throwing a number of errors around the same time Orion was trying to do update the db. Those errors were Corrected with a service pack that was released by Microsoft for .Net 2.0. Here is what it…

The developers have a couple of workarounds that may help with the SNMP problem in the short term. Workaround1 After adding new device:1. Turn on node Monitor2. Restart Cirrus3. Wait until new device will be discovered Now you can turn off Node monitor again and work with device. Workaround2 Before adding new device:1.…

the other suggestion for you would be to Add/Remove -> Repair Orion

You can have the DBAs truncate the netflow2 table as mentioned in this thread- (NOTE: truncating will delete the data permanently) once the DB has decreased to a manageable size then readjust the settings within NTA web interface -> Global settings-> compressed and uncompressed data to your needs.

You will need to truncate that table and then do a DB compact. To prevent this from happening again try adding some rules/filters to syslog, such as "Discard Syslog Message" Start -> Program Files -> Solarwinds -> Orion -> Syslog Viewer From this tool, Go to File -> Syslog Server settings -> Alert/Filter Rules Tab Here you…

Since there's a topic on upgrades, can you tell me what steps i would need to upgrade from 7.8.59 to 8.5.1. I assume i would need to go through a couple of in between upgrades for DB compatability. thanks No- This is a supported path-

The custom pollers are tied to the same intervals that are set for the Nodes and Interfaces they are assigned to.
