Cool- So I pushed this settings down to 10 seconds and haven't noticed any significant decraease in the delay. Maybe I just need to restart a service?

Has anyone been running fine with APM v2.0 and IPAM v1SP2? Perhaps I just need to go to APM v2.5 to solve the .Net errors coming into my Application log.
-
I believe that I have SP2 installed as I downloaded the IPAM package from our customer portal last week. If memory serves correctly, this version included SP2.

Is there a way to have SolarWinds recognize the VMware ESX 3.x host as something other than "net-snmp Linux"? Perhaps it's just something that I'm missing on the ESX mib's??

Yes, this is a bit of surprise considering such a features simplicity (and usefulness). A bit of irony for me now is that I had to fall back on a program we used for years here with success called HostMon, and mgmt decided to purchase SolarWinds to replace this because of the additional bells and whistles. SW is a great…

Thanks, vhcato. I got to see your query in action today and it worked beautifully for what I was looking for. Many thanks! Now all my peers think I'm cool :-)

Well, Orion is still set at the default 4 minute interval for the page to refresh. But I manually kept refreshing after disabling the interface and, at about 120 seconds, it went to warning, and then another 60-120 seconds, it changed to 'Down' status and I received an alert (email). within seconds. So, it seems that NPM…

Just installed IPAM yesterday and see almost the same symptoms; I'm not seeing anything in the SolarWinds.Net log but do see the .Net 2.0 Errors referencing the "swjobengineworker.exe" process. I also see that my APM v2.0 shows all of its test in an unknown state for about 5 minutes until they all come back accurate again.…

Correct. I have a user who wants to create new templates, edit existing settings, etc. in APM. Admin settings will work for now - I trust him (for now).
-
Problem solved. I had to direct the test to our IronPort SMTP listeners - not the Exchange server. I also had to create a MAPI profile on the APM server that correlated to a valid user mailbox.

I know it's just me, but I still don't get it. I just upgraded to v9.1 (from v9.0) but I don't see where/how to get the vm guests to list under their respective ESX hosts. In Orion, I went to 'Admin', 'Views by Device Type', located 'VMware ESX Server' and changed the drop-down to 'Node Details'. So when I go back to my…

OK, so here's some more details that I have learned. This is a HP system and the gauge is only reporting on User (/usr) memory and not necessarily the collective physical memory utilization. Can this 'Orion poller' be easily modified to include all components of physical memory?
-
Thanks for the clarification. When I attempt to telnet to that port on Exchange from Orion I get the message "Could not open connection to the host, on port 110: Connect failed". For the record, I also get this message when attempting to telnet to the Exchange Hub server as well.

Thanks, bleearg13- that's where my thinking started heading when I found that Network Discovery only works with snmp. I went ahead and tried to add a row manually to the Nodes table and it seemed to work ok- but then when I tried to setup a custom Orion page and apply a view limitation, the preview of the page only threw…

Thanks, vhcato- You've described exactly what I'm looking to do (I suspected it was relatively simple but me and simple never seem to get along). The time delta showing the sum of the nodes "Down" timestamp and the "Up" timestamp. And, ideally, a way to somehow insert this in the Alert reset action (email message body in…
-
Well I think I figured it out and, of course, user error was likely the cause. There was an additional condition in the Alert that specified "Vendor = VMware". Thus, the logic of the Alert was waiting for a 'Windows' system AND a 'VMware' system to be in 'Down Status' before triggering the alert. So I stripped out the…

Thanks, Andy- but I give up- where/how can I locate the "license Manager"?
-
I just discovered that I have the same results upgrading from 9.0 to 9.1 - timeout errors starting or stopping the NetPerfMon service. It happened during the upgrade as well as when I applied SP1. Additionally, the same occurred on my Hot-Standby node - both with the upgrade and SP1 install. A quick glance shows that all…

Never mind! I found it... thanks!
-
I just noticed that I have the exact same scenario. The physical memory reports correctly under disk volumes (72%) but the gauge displays a significantly lower value (28%). Does anyone know the logical difference of these two values? (Running NPM 9 SP2 w/ APM 2)
-
Thanks Jiri- Could you instruct me on how to change the name of my component monitor? The one I'm currently using is called "HTTP Monitor" which is simply a global template monitor and I don't see where I can change this in APM for my specific monitor.
-
Yep, that was it. Thanks Brandon!
-
Thanks qle- That's what I was afraid of- can anyone confirm?
-
I have the same problem and error with this template but am instead targeting our Exchange server. Unfortunately, since I only have the Exchange server in NPM as a ICMP-only node, I can't alter the IP address field to anything other than an ip address - Orion isn't accepting text characters so I can't simply change it to…
-
So then these 3000+ hosts will need to be added manually?
-
Hi Brandon, I do intend to go to NPMv9.5 at some point. Can I go to IPAMv1.0.1 now?
-
Thanks, guys. I think lchance is clsoest to the helping with this because it's teh Orion site that still displays the modules- specifically the NODE DETAILS page for this device. I did take a second look at the UnDP settings and only see what should still be assigned to this device. It's the other pollers that seem stuck…
-
Yes, I'm sorry- typo on my part. ""Node Status" is configured in the query (I don't believe there is a "Status" only option). Perhaps some other obvious item I'm missing? Is anyone else successfully using "Vendor" in their Alert condition?
-
That sounds cool. But a quick look around Orion tells me that I don't have any vlan's entered into SolarWinds- just nodes and interfaces. Though there are vlan assigned within IP Address Mgmt (IPAM). Thus, how would I go about adding vlan(s) into NPM?
-
Thanks - I did just see that and read up a little on it before my original post here. The reason I did decide to post here after learning about the SEUM solution is because my goal is to achieve this internally - not outside the network and from the Interwebs. The SEUM solution may be overkill for my needs with this and…
