service name: "solarwindslogpollingservice" this is the service name.

@"aLTeReGo" : Can you help me with this? Not sure if you can or if this belongs to another product manager. We are trying to understand if an upgrade fixes this problem or what can we do to fix this. It happens frequently enough that it's getting managements attention. However, if we can confirm an upgrade will fix it than…

@"cahunt" How would I edit the Trigger to include a custom property of nodes not to be triggered by this alert? I have around 26 Unix systems that are previsioned with very small partitions that peak during software run on those server but the disk is released once the run is over. So it is confirmed that it's not a…

I've had a similar situation. And digging around I found that in my case it was VNQM module that had failed to start and was causing these errors in job scheduler v2. Once I fixed VNQM, And rebooted my server those errors in my instance cleared out. I would suggest maybe looking at the logs and seeing if you have any other…

I would agree to the extend of how supported this device is by NCM. But I would suggest opening a support ticket with solarwinds. They could look through the logs with you to try and figure out what's happening during the connection process to see if a failure could be found. Might just be an unsupported device. But only…

Can you provide a bit more information? Just to help elaborate and clarify a bit further. 1. What verision of NPM are you on? What's the version of the agent being used? I think there was a specific version (Can't remember the exact number) but it actually did have a memory leak of sorts that would cause this to happen. 2.…

Your best bet and safest bet is to use network discovery and manually edit the changes after. While technically the method you mentioned can work, I can speak from experience in saying that it could give you more headache than it's worth too if it isn't done correctly.

Can you post a screenshot how you set this template up? This will help clear some things up by having a visual of how the template was setup.

I may not have the answer your looking for. But my experiences have been that certain tables that are used frequently and or locked during maintenance do not get reindexed. In my environment some of those same tables you mentioned in your post are 90% before and 90% after defrag completes. And it just seems to me to be…

We've tried the import and export options for IPAM and found it lacking and it didn't work for us. In our instance we needed to build the hierarchy and populate everything manually and have over 700k ip's. This took many hours and many days and lots of caffeine. I myself have an opened feature request to hopefully get them…

Few things to consider would be: 1. Are they close (Example within the same country)or are they far spread out across different countries where ping times could be an issue? 2. Are they all on the same subnet? If not, do the subnets communicate with each other or are the segregated? 3. Do you have remote sites that might…

This environment has way to many problems than it's worth to fix. I have gone a different route and I have setup a new deployment I have in test mode. So far testing against the new environment it's showing better results. Basically what we have done is we still kept it on ping poll but have built something similar to what…

These are all good suggestions that I've looked into in the past but ended up not working for me. Unfortunately, Our infrastructure is setup in what I can only describe as a non-standard setup. This causes way to many issues and headaches with monitoring but it's been this way even before I was hired here. So most of the…

Where can I get this hotfix 3 for 4.6 IPAM.. Only hotfix I see in my portal is hotfix 2. And I'm losing sleep and hair over the IPAM problems in my environment. Would love a hotfix that will stabilize things for me.

Agree with gerardolan64. Have you checked reference guides, admin guides to provision your system properly? It's hard to suggest and give advice without knowing the details of your setup. However, I would recommend taking into account forecast growth you may have and build a system that could handle any future growth.…

Wanted to provide a general answer. After hearing back from DEV, Here is the response I got from solarwinds: **** I have an update from our development team. What they've found is that the memory dump shows a lot of threads stuck waiting for GC. What we want to try is the following: Add this key to…

Issue turned out to be local. An IPAM view long ago had been set to look up UDT information when the previous administrator was testing UDT. UDT was never licensed but the view was never modified. With SolarWinds we found the view and removed the option. This fixed the view and cleared a majority of errors in information…

I ended up calling Solarwinds on this. They have taken a look and agreed that this isn't right. They have gathered logs and are investigating. They are considering bugging this issue internally and sending it to the DEV team. I'll update when I have an update from them.

The above is only the Information service v3. with around 3 to 4 percent being everything else. But as you can see this isn't supposed to be the case on such a powerful server VM. One Service killing a machine like this just doesn't appear to sound right to me.
-
oops! haha.. I already have the badge.

I would think a ticket to solarwinds might be needed on this one. Unless you feel comfortable going through the solarwinds NCM logs to find more information. The information provided in your title is not specific enough and could be several things associated with it. SolarWinds can dig in the NCM logs and help you find the…

Provide a little more information. How are these VM's configured? When you get these alerts what's the vm showing? Are you seeing any spikes? How do you have the alert configured? This could also be in the way your monitoring the servers. Are they monitored in snmp, wmi, or agent monitoring?

The funny part and frustrating at the same time is that not even solarwinds dev department knows what's going. I find it incredible that so many minds are involved and everyone is scratching their heads.
-
So I found the problem. Solarwinds is picky as hell when it comes to working with VM machine that's hooked to a busy SAN. Taking a slice of the SAN's avaliable SSD storage, And placing our VM in the FAST policy's of the SAN fixed the issues. Counters that where in the seconds dropped to a max of a 150 ms and that's only…

So we found from storage team that we where on a large pool of drives that where dynamic tearing. In other words low performance files go to regular sata drives while higher demand files go to 15k sas drives. A small slice of our LUN is SSD's which isn't enough to really provide much relief. Storage team switched out lun…

I found the issue. we have 97 groups set. Some dynamic. And they are all refreshing together. This is killing swis v3 with trying to query the database. This is what has been killing the site. Working on the groups refresh has resolved the issue
-
I think I have figured it out. I noticed that every time swis v3 became unstable there was what appear to be a dynamic query built way before I took over this environment. This query was built to get the devices for a specific group. When the query ran it ran multiple times and the execution time got longer and longer…
-
Interesting thing. Upon restart of the swis v3 component for about a week it works perfectly. Then slowly it gets bogged down till the site spins with no response. I've checked my site and found alot of clutter that needed to be cleaned out. I cleaned out the clutter, optimized the rest and made sure that there wasn't any…
-
I'm not exactly sure what this could be. Right now as we speak swis v3 is taking up 70% cpu and 1.5gigs or ram. Logs show a query running for what appears to be groups as it's talking about containers. Then it also has some IPAM errors which says IPAM is trying to pull from UDT. But we don't even have UDT in our…

I'm thinking this may be potentially just in my environment. For example, I removed many old maps that where half completed or not working at all from the atlas. Haven't seen swis v3 consume as much resources anymore. I also started removing some old dashboards from the site and this has further reduced consumption of…
