I got it set up but used it with our production Solarwinds SQL which generates too much event activity, mostly due to the many products we're using. I'm waiting on our DBA to offer a lighter load SQL server to continue with our reviews.

thanks - you were right in your solution. i found my problem was watching the RED icon after doing the UPDATE CHECKSUM and expecting to see it change immediately - but 'duh' - i didn't hit the SUBMIT button way down below. it only then changed to GREEN after the next poll. thanks again.

Would you know if Centera will ever be included - that is, is it planned to be supported?

Yann, I've set up both, Alerts for this SNMP TRAP and for Adv Alerts for the Custom Poller, and my notifications trigger on the SNMP TRAP but do not trigger off my Adv Alert. I've moved my Adv Alerts down into Seconds, but still I'm not able to trigger on Custom Node Poller. Any ideas how to troubleshoot this? Thanks.
-
Thanks Yann for the reply - that's helpful info and I appreciate it.

The Unmanaged-BLUE overrides anything 'critical' or down (Yellow & Red is mostly my experience and my needs). I don't want to see BLUE here... When what I really need is to be seeing Yellow or Red...here...

Chris, It would be all of the above... How would I make a single report for all 64 datastores by IO and latency by business hours Monday through Friday? or any mix like Free Space and VM Allocation .etc Thanks.
-
I'm curious about this report too! I tried downloading it but it errors as an XML style sheet. Any ideas on that?
-
Thanks Yann - I have a ticket opened now.
-
this is pretty straightforward and should be working... should i open a support ticket for this? thanks.

We've purchased it for all server logs and now about to consider it to cover all network devices too. I want to use it's SNMP TRAPS (Microsoft originated) to send to Orion. The good thing is history retention with MySQL, Microsoft SQL or Oracle and it's being done mostly for Audit/Compliance issues.

me again! thanks - i got the map values for Device Status working... in this example below, what do you think the value description would be to cover this FAULT? it shows Zero for right now (which must mean OK) but i wonder what the other values might be? thank-you for your response!!!
-
wow! thanks... you know that saying? Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, but teach him to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime. can you teach me where to get those fish values? like a URL or PDF or something else? the reason i ask is i'm on a mission to do tons of these Dell MIBs and i'll need more fish, i mean MIB…

We do not use QoS. Do you mean utilization on the outside interfaces? It is very small. HQ....................................to..................VPN OFFICE BIG ASA tunnel(outside)...to..................SMALL ASA or PIX tunnel(outside) (100 Mbps ethernet)........to...................ISP Cable-modem or DSL (utilization <…

No particular alert - I have a lot monitoring Nodes and Interfaces and Volumes by various triggers. I just DO NOT want to get any false alarms sent out to twenty technical staff when I initiate this Sonar Discovery. Plus I wanted to schedule it around 5am as well. (Bad time to get a page on the weekend). Any ideas of…

Solarwinds Support sent me two new .DLLs for a fix (until the next SP). I'll update these soon and report back . . .
-
after you had asked 'how often' i then turned around asked our engineer and he said they had stopped. ...but i had not changed anything in Solarwinds...go figure?!
-
i'm interested in knowing how far you (gbrance) get with monitoring your CX3, especially if you plan on using Orion UnDP. again, our primary interests will be making use of Solarwinds to monitor a CX4's performance.
-
we're about to purchase the CX4. we want to use Solarwinds to monitor it's performance rather than their proprietary analyzer. Hey SOLARWINDS MODERATOR - do you folks partner with someone like EMC to get your products to work together?

i am logged in with 'admin' i was able to include a different view yesterday, the one named NODES WITH PROBLEMS and the EDIT was available on that one, so i created the Filter i needed. But this one today, TOP 10 NODES BY PERCENT PACKET LOSS, just does not show the Edit button when i use Preview. i wonder if all those TOP…

that's pretty sad isn't it !!!!!!!!!!! a thread that is nearly two years old and no support for this technology...

i need to do the same thing as MHH51 has anyone provided any details or examples on how this is supposed to be accomplished with Custom Properties? any Advanced Alert-wizards already doing this?
-
I've tried it on six seperate systems - each with IE 7 (builds .5730/.6002) and each system has the same issue.

Attn Albany NY Mike do you know if both WPTA and individual Orion accounts will work together? i have some users outside my Windows Domain which use Orion but the majority are inside my Windows Domain where WPTA would be pulling from. and if i have 40 users in my Domain using Orion - do i have to do these one at a time…

works great! thanks

But is there a way to determine what percent of this bandwidth utilization...for instance...used by an endpoint? That drill down only shows an endpoint's percent of volume. Let's say I have a LAN-to-LAN VPN which has a 10Mbps pipe - how can I find out how much of that 82% they are using on a METRO pipe of 30Mbps? There…
-
by polling, do you mean the NODE STATUS or the COLLECT STATISTICS? Collect Statistics can be lowered to 1 minute.
-
I can expect some plus/minus on extra ISP bandwidth like 39-41Mbps but when it got over 70Mbps that is when I begin to question what is going on here???
-
Thanks for the reply. Yes I'll be using a Custom Property for these 200 plus systems. My main concern would be any constant SQL polling on our SQL database which is being pounded to near death already... :)
