Hi. I need to do the same thing - the Cisco SX series codecs do not have SNMP and I need to read their status using JSON. Any luck getting the HTTP component to work?

You should be able to do this with the alert macros. In the email that you send stating the primary is down, have it query the backup interface and include that status.

Hmmm....I can't see how WhatsUpGold even comes close to Orion. How far have you evaluated Orion? To me, it was a no brainer.

I had the same issue and their tech support informed me that you can still use custom polling information even if the mib is not present in their database. All you need is the OID. What you can't do is browse it via their tool. Hope that makes sense.

Can't this be changed so that remote control is a configurable component, I use VNC as a standard on all my boxes (Netware, Linux and Windows).

My guess is the SMS program would have to be able to handle passed parameters. What SMS alert program do you have?
