  • As mentioned above, I was using my transform poller to trigger alerts for these devices because Orion isn't picking up the correct value. After upgrading to 9.5, my alert suddenly fired and gave me a 100% usage stat, which again wasn't true. I believe that what's happening is ${CustomPoller.Rate} is not the value I need to…
  • If know what you mean because I recently set up some alerts in a similar fashion as yours. After getting a few "reset" emails without having gotten "alert" emails, I ended up using the "delay" at the bottom of the Trigger Condition tab rather than delaying the alert action. This way no alert is triggered at all unless the…
  • Thanks, you're correct that I can't use a wild card. And I imagine that your way would work, too, but I fixed it (with help from SolarWinds support) by using a custom property for these nodes and checking against that in the alert rather than the node name.
  • Although I marked this as the answer to my question, I would like to clarify something. I asked: "So my question is - can I replace ${Message} with ${lgpConditionDescr} ?" and the answer was: "Yes, you can" and pointed to a post with the answer. After reading through that post, I discovered that the variable I had to use…
  • Thank you Maria, but it turns out that what I'm trying to do can't be done currently. I have reported it as a bug.
  • Is that something that will be made available in a coming release? Seems like it would be pretty simple to add, since it's possible for other views.
  • Yes, only send a report if their utilization is higher than it should be, by comparing the 95th percentile to the custom bandwidth setting. In my previous post, I neglected to mention that I want the utilization check to cover the previous month.
  • This is great! What would I need to add to this report in order to be able to sort by specific node custom properties, such as CustomerName?
  • Thank you so much for this!
  • I'm on 10.7 and having the same problem as others where the resource isn't available when I go to add it. Should it work on 10.7? I just ran Configuration Wizard a few days ago, added your files today and REALLY REALLY want to use this, but it's not there!
  • Yes, there is. I found this somewhere on Thwack long ago, so can't take credit for it but it works great. You'd need to modify based on your needs but this is designed to watch Events and alert me if a WAN router stops responding 3 times in a 4 hour period. You would need to create a Custom SQL Alert and paste your…
  • I should clarify that the interfaces are each on different nodes as well.. don't know if that will make a difference.
  • In the admin settings, manage accounts, find the account that you are logged into on the display and choose Yes under Disable Session Timeout. I think it's that simple. :)
  • Tried unmanaging and remanaging, now it's stuck in unknown status.
  • A child can only have one parent for the dependency to work. If it has more than one, all parents would have to be down before the child suppression would occur.
  • Additional information: I am just guessing as I did not set these nodes up for monitoring, but based on the lack of detail on their details pages I believe that all of the nodes in question are monitored via ICMP only. However I need to confirm that with the systems guys. Is this the only way to tell if a node is being…
  • Did you ever get an answer to this? We just added a PowerConnect 5424 today and I see that Orion doesn't seem to recognize CPU/Memory. I've just begun my search for the answer but thought I'd check here first.
  • Most of the feedback to my original post came while I was attending the training. If anyone else is considering this training, I would absolutely recommend it. The instructor was great and I learned more than I could retain in the class - thank goodness for the manuals! The accommodations are also very nice and the food is…
  • Nevermind, I believe I found my answer after a little more research.
  • Turns out another generator test was required this afternoon which caused the units to go to UPS power again. So my alerts got tested already and seem to be working great with the conditions set as I mentioned above... no replies are necessary after all. klc2009
  • I have done this, and then added the variable to our email alerts so that its a clickable link. For instance, I added SupportLink as a custom node property. Then I created a document on our Sharepoint site that explains what procedure to follow when the node goes down. Then I added the URL of that document to the…
  • I'm just guessing here, but the issue may be that a virtual server already has a parent (it's host). So when you add another parent, the only time the dependency will work is if both are down..
  • They are not Windows machines, and I was told by SolarWinds support that the MIB on the device is causing the problem. I have resorted to just using the UnDP to set alerts. klc2009
  • This has been resolved (mostly - still having issues with Linux virtual machines) by turning on monitoring of the NIC on each virtual machine. It will then show up in the list with status LED and IP address, and is click-through-able. Just in case anyone runs across this issue....
  • I have found the solution to this, so no need to reply. Thanks anyway. :)
