I tried to install SNMP in my children so SolarWinds could monitor them. For some reason they objected...

BTW, here are the ports you would have to open on your firewall: Addt'l Poller --> Orion Platform: TCP 17777 (SW Information Service) Orion Platform --> Addt'l Poller: TCP 17777 (SW Information Service) Addt'l Poller --> Orion Platform: TCP 1801 (MSMQ) Addt'l Poller --> SQL Server: TCP 1433 (SQL Server Communication)…

Here’s a link I found that talks about adding additional pollers to NPM: www.solarwinds.com/orion-scalability-engines Kenneth W. Cohen Network Analyst Global Technical Services, IT Office: 470-448-5870 Mobile: 678-428-9875 kenneth.cohen@hyh.com<mailto:kenneth.cohen@hyh.com> Halyardhealth.com

That’s available in the scheduler but not in on-demand? Say it isn’t so… Kenneth W. Cohen Network Analyst Global Technical Services, IT Office: 470-448-5870 Mobile: 678-428-9875 kenneth.cohen@hyh.com<mailto:kenneth.cohen@hyh.com> Halyardhealth.com

OK - I think everyone responding kind of missed the point. I shouldn't have mentioned Security in the original question as we all went off on a tangent on what a Security group needs. That discussion is irrelevant to the actual thrust of the question, which is reporting on NetFlow data and not what Security does or doesn't…
-
Thank you for the response – I really appreciate it. I differ, however, in that we’ve laid out significant $$$ for a tool that is already gathering the data that Security wants, and I feel I shouldn’t have to jump through even more hoops, adding new infrastructure, etc. to be able to collect / report on data that NTA has…

Yep. Kenneth W. Cohen Network Analyst Global Technical Services, IT Office: 470-448-5870 Mobile: 678-428-9875 kenneth.cohen@hyh.com<mailto:kenneth.cohen@hyh.com> Halyardhealth.com

it is a 10 Mbps circuit. For some reason, and only in the web based reports, the percent utilizations don't match the average bps. In the above example, I would expect 2% transmit percent utilization of 10 Mbps to be 200 kbps. Even more so, I would expect 1% receive percent utilization to be 100 kbps, not 805.

It would be nice if SW played well with time zones, but it really doesn't. For that reason and just to keep things consistent, we put everything (routers, switches, servers, pollers, etc...) into the same time zone as our data center.

Hi, Fazl - If I understand correctly, you do not need to write a separate application to accomplish this. There is a third-party application, NotePager Pro, that will communicate via SMS and configures easily and integrates with NPM nicely. It is not expensive, either. Check it out here: SMS Messages Anywhere, at Any Time…

There's reason to only monitor actual interfaces and drop items such as the Packet Scheduler. Removed items won't count against your license and it will cut down on the database size, CPU and memory usage. If you are using your WAN-Miniport, by all means monitor it, but if not I would disable it on the router and remove it…

I'm sorry to say that this is likely the answer , if it isn't an available OID then NPM can't do anything about it.
-
Interesting - We are using Cisco 1240s and NPM has no problem with them including Client History. I believe your problem may be with the SNMP MIBs on the 1841 - If you do a SNMP walk on it, do you see any of the client stats?
-
Not to be a contrarian, but I solved my grouping issues with one simple realization - there's nothing inherently wrong with having a group with only one member . I don't have a lot of groups with only one member (three in fact), but it sure made reporting based on groups a lot easier.

By the way, in the configuration you posted you set the switch to send to IP Address 0AC70199, which is hex for 10.199.1.153. This is exactly what is shown in the SolarWinds example and I doubt it is the correct address for your SolarWinds NTA receiver. What is the actual IP address of the SolarWinds system? I'll translate…

What is the exact model of the HP switch, and what operating system version is it running?
-
I have, but not on an A10. The problem turned out to be a problem in the OS of the system I was polling, not with NPM. When the OS was updated the interfaces started reporting statistics.
-
I think you need to ask this in the Virtualization Manager forum.
-
Can you be more specific about the devices?
-
I believe that there is a bit of configuration within snmpd.
-
You still need to poll the router to get the interface status, but you don't want to poll for the stats. I'll see if I can do that with one of my devices.
-
Have you considered un-managing the Nexus? It's kind of like killing a fly with a bazooka, but it will stop the polling.
-
If the BGP link has been shut down, I would remove that interface from monitoring. That should prevent NPM from alerting and free up a bit of resources as well.
-
You may watch for specific IP/Ports with NTA directly.
-
can you do a SNMP walk on the SonicWall?
-
I've done this on a NetScaler, but not an F5. That shouldn't matter, though, as it is a basic virtual server configuration for UDP traffic. It is quite similar to load balancing DNS.
-
I don't know pagegate, but we use NotePagePro. It integrates with NPM just fine.
-
Hi, lonemarauder I had a similar issue, and it turned out that NPM was actually correct - this particular router was indeed experiencing a problem with intermittent drops on the link to it's upstream neighbor. Now, when I get an alert I check to see if it's a real alert or not... Is there any relevant information in the…

Here's a link to a Microsoft article on configuring redirects: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/324000 It's referring to IIS 7.0, but the basics haven't changed.
