  • Hi Vic, The report runs instantly in ReportWriter. My DB is about 12GB monitoring about 1000 nodes and 8000 interfaces. Dedicated SQL cluster (dual Quad-core, 12GB ram, SQL 2005 64-bit). Here's my SQL query. It's pretty basic. "CustomerName" is a custom Node property, and "Alert_Exempt" is a custom Interface property. Any…
  • I appreciate the quick response, but we do not use the All Nodes resource. We have 2 custom reports displayed as resources. Removing the custom reports removes all slowdowns - response is almost instant. Adding them back results in a 5-second load-time per custom report resource. -Kevin
  • Well, we took the plunge and upgraded to 9.1. Same problem. Was wondering if there were any plans to correct this behavior in any future version of Orion?? It is extremely annoying, and I cannot see any logical reason as to why a view displaying data from a custom property would run 10X slower than a native property. Am I…
  • Was a fix ever found for this? We just upgraded from 7.8.5 to 8.5.1 SP3, and are seeing the same slow-downs that everyone else reports. In particular, just like you, we have 2 custom reports on the main summary page. Each report takes around 5 seconds to load. I was hoping that SP3 would address this, but it didn't (at…
  • I'm testing Cirrus now using the eval version, and have the same problem for a subset of my equipment. I have about 80 HP Procurve switches at one location. If I set the Connectivity Profile to "HP Switch", my config backup fails with the error message you specified. If I set the profile to "Generic", it works. I don't…
  • Assuming the beta is not overflowing yet, we'd be very interested in participating. We have a few dozen remote sites running Cisco VoIP on a variety of scales. -Kevin
  • Maybe the jobs can be consolidated, but I'm trying to make it simple to create a config backup report for my customers. Would it be simpler to create a scheduled report for each node group instead? Either way, it seems I will have a separate job for each customer. When I tried to run my jobs, I had 4 of the scheduled jobs…
  •  Thanks Karlo! That is exactly what I was looking for. Works Great! -Kevin
  • Vic, Good idea. I'm not a DBA, so I'm not sure if this would involve creating a custom SQL job for each device, or if you could execute the same script against all nodes. (one is scalable, the other isn't) I will bounce it off our in-house DBA. Thanks for the guidance. -Kevin
  • Thanks for the reply. That would stop the NetPerfMon service, but I just want to unload the COM app, not restart the service. The service takes forever to stop on its own (usually have to kill it in Task Manager), so I'm not sure that would work anyway. I'd just like to insert whatever action that clicking the "unload"…
  • Hi, I was just checking in on the MOM v8 component query I had from March. Has an ETA been set yet for it? Thanks! -Kevin
  • I thought that might be the case, but wanted to check. Thanks very much!
  • Thanks Yann! That worked perfectly.
  • Just curious how many endpoints you have reporting to NTA?
  • Amen, brother. Pricing model for SLX packages defies logic. We'd have jumped on every module available if they didn't insist that we get the SLX version, since we are running Orion SLX. Orion is a base management tool, so it makes sense that you'd have it licensed to cover every node in your environment. The add-on modules…
  • Ah, I didn't realize that. Thanks Denny!
  • We are running Orion 7.8 with MOM 2005. Integration works fine, although I was disappointed that Orion's alerting seems like it's pieced together rather than a cohesive platform. For example, I can create MOM alerts based on data from the System Manager. However, I do not have the option of creating MOM alerts from the…
  • Converted to 8.5.1 SP3 on ESX 3.5 farm over the past weekend. We are extremely happy so far with the performance. Orion loves to chew up both cpu & memory, but as long as you size your ESX hardware appropriately, there shouldn't be any issue (which is true for just about any app, of course). Hardware is HP DL380 G5 with…
  • This bit us awhile ago. Someone at our company inadvertantly turned syslog filters on a few firewalls with 30Mbps+ of Internet bandwidth to "Informational." 600 million rows and 200GB later, we had to do the same thing. You can also try to delete several rows at a time to gradually bring the database size down without…
