  • Just like you add interfaces. Go to the node manager and list resources for a node and select the VLANS you want in Orion.
  • Nothing specific to the actual tool or product, our "issues" stem from the internal practice of adding floor tile and rack numbers to the device configuration snmp-server location of devices located at the data centers. e.g. 1234 Main Street, Anytown, state, zip, Rack 1 = N37, RACK 2 = O37
  • Im interested to know what if any progress you have made with this in the last year?
  • try to stop all polling engines and related Orion services before you start the Configuration Wizard (Start> SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor> Advanced Features> Shutdown NetPerfMon) also when you moved the DB what did you name it on the new DB? I think the config wizard is looking for "Servername\SOLARWINDS" by…
  • Your looking for a topology overview aren't you? Mapmaker would be the best option to do this...Unfourtunetly it's currently 100% manual process. Do you by chance have LANsurveyor or LANsurveyor Express for Microsoft Visio in your shop? If not you should check them out, they do what I'm talking about in regards to mapping…
  • Yes. In Excel start off with the cell formatted for date and time, add the value you want and then reformat the cell as a number. when you specify the time and then convert it back to a number (with no Decimal places: 0) you will get an integer with a decimal. Here is today's date and time for example: 07/03/2008 10:50:00…
  • Yes I know the original post is almost a year old... Better late than never ;-) SELECT Caption,Location, VendorIcon,Ip_Address, DateDiff(hour,Nodes.LastBoot,GetDate()) AS HoursUp FROM Nodes WHERE Location = 'Data Center SEV1' AND ( ( NOT (DATEPART(weekday, DateTime) = 7)) AND ( NOT (Convert(Char,DateTime,108) <= '06:00'))…
  • Are your jobs set up like this?
  • My trap varbinds table is only 1.4MB, and I keep them for 45 days. Here is a good post on the Trapvarbinds table method for compacting the table Big "high-five" to Gob for this one: I run the How many mismatched trapvarbinds & I want to delete mismatched trapvarbinds queries from SQL Query Analyzer... Just awesome!
  • There seems to be allot of issues with Advanced Alerts for anything other than Nodes, looks like these are being addressed in v8.1, but interface advanced alerts are not specifically mentioned in the v8.1 overview. Have you tried switching tables to the VolumeUsage table yet? try it both ways (A)"straight column" and if…
  • Ha, I just found my server desktop background... thanks aLTeReGo
  • Sure is... Althought you can do this customization I wouldn't recommend it and here is why: your going to have to re-do that customization every time a new Orion release comes out... Sorry I only answered one of your three questions.
  • Yes, using an account that has Allow View Customization, just click the Edit resource button on the Interface detail screen the select Min/Max/Average Percent Utilization...
  • I hope they call soon... I sent you a PM on this, check your inbox. Thanks
  • On an off note: Just how many DAYS did it take to run the Configuration Wizard when you upgraded to v8.1?
  • What version of Orion are you on? Are you running Cirrus on that server? Prior to going to v8.1 I ran the manual table compact/re-index via the db manager once a month, but my DB never got that large. Even with your number of elements, the DB should not be that large! Unless you are retaining Detailed and Hourly Stats…
  • Check the account that is used to run the report and ensure that it does not have the Allow View Customization and the Toolset Integration box checked.
  • What hardware and code level is you ASA running? also could you export and upload your UdP definition to the Content Exchange
  • Great stuff, but can you export the Perfstack to Exl or CSV? I get "The CSV and Excel options are only available for custom table resources and Report Writer reports" and an error on the email Unable to retrieve url: myorionserver:80/.../Report.aspx using CSV type.Unable to retrieve url: myorionserver:80/.../Report.aspx…
  • tried that, they are still there :-(
  • you can take it to the "next level" and create a custom view using the individual URLs and then take the new view's URL, once again using Report Scheduler, and send a single file on a scheduled basis.
  • Thanks Mark, What would SW recommend? and should I perform the same action on all polling engines? Current: ! ! Connection timeout in seconds Timeout=20 ! ! Database Command timeout in seconds CommandTimeout=90
  • Bring up Netperfmon and then bring up the database manager screen and then shutdown Netperfmon. The database maint screen stays, run compact/repair indexes. Also if you get a full db frequently, you might want to decrease the time frame in which data is retained. Hope that helps John J. Times
  • Same here.... strange Could it be related to the number of custom pollers i have?
  • yeah, very strange... I got an email with the following: View the complete topic at: "> Posted By: vhcato in Orion Network Performance Monitor Subject: Custom DB field for receive errors last hour And another one that does not exist: View the complete topic at: "> Posted By: vhcato in Orion Network Performance Monitor…
  • If your running your webserver on port 8080 (like I was) You need to call Support and change the web page to port 80, then manually change all custom views and custom links... Just my 15 hour experience... Other than that 8.1 is looking pretty darn GOOD
  • The information is stored in the Events table by resource name. I am pretty sure there are several reports in the Content Sharing Zone regarding this. I will do some searches and post my finds here for you.
  • Mark, Shouldn't you stop all polling engines first? or at least stop the SolarWinds Trap Service...
  • what is your complete IOS level on that 6513 ? Can you post a full sh ver; there are around 45 known bugs with ifIndex.
  • FYI You still have to do the Update Report Schemas trick... http://support.solarwinds.net/kbase/ProblemDetail.cfm?ID=424 on a more positive note: The report export directly from the web link still works flawlessly http://support.solarwinds.net/kbase/ProblemDetail.cfm?ID=349
