steve, I appreciate the advice, however we don't want a report since the report writer engine is Jurassic Park text only. We want a George Jetson chart :P John

We'd love to see more Juniper support as we've considered moving quite a bit of our cisco over to juniper. Hint Hint SolarWinds... Please upload anything you come up with to the content exchange.

Hey JB, slightly off topic here, just wondering what the tool was in your screen capture above. I know I've seen it before, but I just can't place it now. Thx - John

I love the forums because I learn something new all the time.... The grouping is this way because of what you are looking at. You are looking at "Applications", not Application Templates. Once a template is assigned to a node it becomes an Application. To accomplish what you refer to as "true application level grouping"…

thisAny this is great. Any chance we can get this ability as a feature in the next version. As both a GUI tool and a report?
-
Chris - Couldn't this be accomplished just by monitoring the port in NPM? Of course this would require higher license counts in NPM. I'm still trying to figure out how the overlap in NPM and NCM is going to play out in terms of features. irishjd - if you figure out the OID, please post it here. John

Macnugetz - Aside from the database size and job feature requests, how about: Query performance Wait state queues Blocking / blocked queries Index fragmentation levels Transaction rate Memory grants pending Average lock wait time Lock timeouts rate Database allocation size Database allocation percent Largest tables SQL…

DirtySouth, thanks for that info. I am however specifically looking for the difference between "logging trap" and "snmp-server enable traps" when both are directed to syslog servers. I guess I'll just play with them until I figure it out.

In case you didn't see this

So #1 is exactly what we are looking for. #2 however is not. Need to be able to do it all within the FTP server for ease and audit purposes. Can scheduled pushes / pulls be done inside serv-u or mft?

Performance counters should be better than WMI but there are some known issues with performance counters not working correctly when accessed remotely (which is case of APM). Jiří - I guess I missed something. What issue does APM have with Perf Counters?
-
Can I ask how you are doing this with the ServiceNow integration? As I understand SN, it's the same type of API. Is there some way to leverage that?

Wow, seeing what param brought to our attention and what justty posted about the CPU Gauge really caused us some concern. We didn't realize this SNMP state wasn't able to be monitored / alerted effectively. We've now been going through all our nodes to confirm they are working correctly. In addition to the ability of…

I'll give you that is true (points to you!). I guess that is the somewhat good thing about Orion’s flexibility. There is always a workaround. However, from a customer perspective, it's a real waste of time and resources. And from a technical perspective, we would still like to see APM smart enough to know that we are…

Juniper MAG4610 detected as older Neoteris device. Please updated an add full support for SA / MAG hardware. Juniper MIB 1.3.6.1.4.1.12532 MAG 4610 1.3.6.1.4.1.12532.254.2.1

Ok, appreciate your feedback. Let me say not the answer I was hoping for. Be a bit smart - you guys sell a product called Network Change Management so I know you can understand our reservations about how templates change and what those changes are. But you nailed it as to why I was asking. We are having issues with some…

Agreed. Any enterprise app should have the ability to use AD for authentication. And the entire app should be able to be fully managed through the web interface. Once place to go for everything.

I just found this thread as well - I was looking for a way to monitor hardware failures. I am not familiar with EMM yet, but if there is any way to leverage this to alert on hardware failures of our cisco gear without having to set up custom pollers and trap filters - we are all for it. John

byron, vmware vcpu scheduling issue was for all intents and purposes eliminated 4.0 and further improved in 4.1 4.0 Info - http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/perf-vsphere-cpu_scheduler.pdf 4.1 Info - http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/techpaper/VMW_vSphere41_cpu_schedule_ESX.pdf

we would love to see this as well

Byron - we completely agree. If it can be done in a way that works for everything, great. If it needs to be done two or more ways depending on the hardware, so be it. As long as it is true uptime!

Marie, Not sure if I fully understand what you are asking. We installed NCM itself on the same server as NPM. That is where the SYSLOG and TRAP question comes up. We answered no and then ran the NCM Integration Module. As a test, we went back, ran a repair of NCM which triggered NCM to ask if we wanted to install the…

rob.hock thanks for pointing that out. We did see the option, but it presents another issue for us. If we use just SNMP, the status is still as inaccurate as using just ICMP, as SNMP not responding does not mean the node is down. Is there a way to have our cake and eat it too?
-
Step 5 is where we lose it. Can't find the netflow objects.
-
We are at the 2000 level. Support was on the server the other day and ran some diags for another issue (NPM 10.1 RC Slowness) and gave everything a big thumbs up as far as performance goes. So I don't think it's that.

Brandon, I really, really hope I can sway your decision on this :) If you guys are going to give charting an update, please look at adding all the features of a tools like this: (http://www.dotnetcharting.com/demo.aspx) Specifically, the click to zoom feature set…

Marie, As usual you are on top of things! Could you get another question answered? Thanks in advance! Could you find out why things like this aren't working / made to work - out of the box? Even if it's not part of the installer it could be an optional utility that you run on each workstation, rather than each customer…

I can't tell you how often I forget about updating the MIB database. I think I am going to put in a feature request for an automatic alert in the web interface when the MIB database is updated.
