Oh yeah. This is definetly needed. Up until a few weeks ago (when we started using APM a lot more) we thought this would be how it worked. A little surpirsed when we found out otherwise.

We've got a Nortel / Avaya PBX and call manager that we just recently upgraded to the latest and greatest version. Not sure if this fits the bill for what you are looking for as it is based on the legacy Nortel platform. Let me know.

Could we ask the the default behavior for all updated templates be changed and that the all templates are updated by default and the older template renamed - perhaps with a version number in addition to legacy?

Any progress on this? We'd like to replace our APC IM device with NPM / NCM if possible but we need a complete solution. Looks like APC has a whole plug in to the MS SCCM framework. Wish we could get that for Orion.

Want to compare the two partitions. Specifically the Creation date and JUNOS version numbers. If the do not match, flag as a policy violation. Not sure if a policy is the right place to do this but it seems like the only way to do it. Of course, policies right now only seem to work on downloaded configs al la Cisco.

Has there been any movement on getting this to work with NCM? The SAs support HTTPS and some XML method as well. I really wish Orion wasn't so Cisco focused! Is this even a feature request? If not, can we have it added to the list please :) John

Not sure I can answer that question accurately, but I do know that a bunch of newer products we are bringing in support WS-MAN. And I've personally never cared for WMI for use as (part of) an enterprise monitoring tool. I think the overhead is just to high.

Duelunds - I may try this with our helpdesk dashboard. AlwayzVIP - this is exactly what we want - An Orion webpart so we can publish the network / server status in sharepoint. Let me know if you figure out a good way to do it without a ton of custom.
