Ok, It WAS .NET. I just cloned a 2003 Vanilla VM with SP2, and installed .NET 2.0 from Windows Add/Remove Programs. That was it, the Eminentware WMI agent worked fine.

Problem is, my VMWare Workstation Lab is small and can only handle two VM's running at once. So currently testing Patch Manager (which is on a VM) installing patches to a 2008 R2 Vanilla VM. Yes maybe it was .NET. Maybe I will try another 2003 Out of the box server and JUST install .NET on it and see what that does. Thanks.

Yes but that is on the Patch Management server. It shouldn't be a pre-req on the server RECEIVING the patches...

Hi. When you say "it could cause performance issues" do you mean App Insights for AD? If so then what is the point of the product?

It looks like the issue was something on the 2003 server. Since I was doing an Eval, the server I was attempting to patch was an 'out of the box' 2003 server with only SP2. No other patches. Well at least ONE patch needed to be on the 2003 box before it would allow Patch Manager to access it, because I ran a manual update…
