  • Scott, Any SNMP-learned variable can be used by Cirrus in a configuration template, and you can define your own custom properties just like Orion. File, Settings, Custom Properties will list (or allow you to add) any additional fields you want to have available to you with NCM. Once you initially do an SNMP discovery on…
  • I had one of my users test it out with a random password on his NT account and it worked out just fine. Thanks for the advice, tdvojmoc.
  • Thanks, Chris - I do understand that comment. This is exactly how the filtering and 'smarts' should look like.
  • I would like to see a "Monitored Only" node option within Orion. The "List Resources" GUI allows a user to select 'yes' on the interface error and traffic charts, but allows a grayed checkbox on the interface status. It should collect historical statistics, for example, desktop user ports, but not have these clutter alerts…
  • Chandru, this code only works for existing nodes. The trigger is intended to work with the orion database import. It will only update NCM nodes that already exist, it won't create new rows. I toyed with creating new nodes, but it was just way too much work as there's a lot of downstream table work that needs to be taken…
  • I was intrigued by this post, but the config dump for the NVG 3050 is not /info/sys it's /cfg/dump -- this is a bit tricky, since it has a blurb about 'do you want to dump your configuration keys?' that you have to say yes/no to before you can actually dump it. Too bad we can't chain commands!
  • For the purposes of my post here, I did turn on polling - it was previously off. The app is horribly slow now. I've turned polling off entirely, it's nice and speedy again.
  • Just to chime in, I suppose I rely on Syslog to escalate hsrp related events. I'm loving your idea :)
  • Chris, when is 5.1 to be released? Orion-Cirrus integration is the #1 reason I was looking forward to this upgrade, so in addition with the NCM Module integration issue and this I think I'll be waiting a while. How was this missed? Is this administrator error (No offense guys) or are the database and application…
  • To note, under 9.1 I'm not having any problems managing any nodes using System Manager. I don't like the web interface as it's quite slow and difficult to do bulk changes myself. -JP

  • Yann, wouldn't the interfaces have to exist [monitored] in order to assign universal device pollers to it? That will continue to cause up/down interface status.
  • Thanks for your reply, Andy! In the mean time, I think I can write something in sql that could be compatible with the report writing tool.
  • The import process pretty much deleted the current settings for all of my nodes. I tried "Allow orion import", but with zero documentation on what that feature -actually- does, i'm at a loss. I'd really love to do a custom sql query to import/export nodes but it seems the database is too proprietary for me to leverage…
  • Checking the database, the dbo.ResponseTime_Detail, Daily, and Hourly tables only have a few columns - NodeID, DateTime, Min, Max, Percent loss, availability, and an archive option. I suppose that upon changing the Node ID, there's a trigger or application option somewhere that actually goes in and wipes out this data -…
  • I just renamed the nodes with the database manager one by one. For future import tries, is there a way to disable subnet scanning? I want to give orion an exact list of only these routers to import and nothing else.
  • Chris, forgive me for a question poorly asked. In the Cirrus (NCM?) application, I define my custom properties, like street address, building, CLLI code, etc. I noticed there aren't any webparts or resources to view the online NCM custom properties. The only place right now that I can view these properties is on the gui…
  • To bleearg13s' point, the router actually replying to the arp requests is configured for proxy-arp - try turning that off (Although you might lose some networking)! It's odd that the Orion server itself is sending these requests, however. I'd check to see if it actually has a default gateway assigned.
  • Thanks for replying, Mark, but why would I try to export an empty dataset? :P After a successful switch map I am unable to export to any format as the export list I have seen in previous Engineers -GIF, Jpeg, CSV, Excel, is empty. "No export methods defined" Publish to web gives "Run-time error '340': Control array element…
  • I'm installing 2008 express right now. For my understanding, this is just for the IP Address database? This is separate from Orion?
  • This file isn't anywhere on my disk on solarwinds NPM v9.1 and SW Toolset v10 =( Is this a recent change?
  • Thanks, Sham, this did fix my problem. I still feel that solarwinds should add a new table column in the next release so this isn't a problem. It's a very easy fix.
  • Thank you CuppaT! I found the option and have enabled the page.
  • Thank you, Chris! It didn't seem intentional, but I didn't want to seem picky either :)
  • I agree with jonchill. The bunch of us at work would really like to see database integration, automated import/export, and general working functionality with Orion. It would be very helpful to have a single information source. I am keeping custom properties in both databases and they are never in sync - City names,…
  • Oh this is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much Haley.
  • Thanks for the reply. I suppose my course of action is to tinker with IP SLA, and if that works, VoIP can monitor the SLA.. That sounds straightforward. Regards, JP
  • Although your post is helpful, Matt08, It is not relevant to this specific problem. The "Menu" bar at the top of the page is completely missing from both maps and reports. My map files and sql report files have been transitioned easily and without trouble. That's the only issue I have, the menu bar has vanished.
  • Chris, I'm sure that feature is used for administrative users of Cirrus/NCM itself - not for usernames and passwords that appear in configs, right? I'm thinking of the way RANCID obfuscates/deletes passwords from downloaded configs.
  • Agreed, our BPS 2000 and Passport 8600s are working as well.
