  • We've got 4400's here and the only way I've managed to get each switch in a stack to monitor individually is to give each switch it's own IP address then add each switch as an individual in NPM, not ideal but it the only way I've found to be able to monitor multiple switches in a 3COM stack. tpelley, do you have any issues…
  • Greg Just installed 10.2 but I'm not seeing the gadget, when I click the beakers it says no new gadgets available. I've tried with and without our proxy settings and neither makes a difference. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks Jon
  • JA We've just installed IPMonitor on the same box as Orion and would like to do a similar thing but I'm not much of a programmer and at the moment haven't got the time to experiment. When I do and if I get it working I'll let you know. Jon
  • The only problem is that now I've tried to install and configure Orion when I tell Orion config the IP address and select the folder for the database it tells me that the folder does not exist even though I've selected from the browse box. Is this due to the use of the ip address as the sql server or something else? Thanks…
  • Got this working with a cross over cable and it works a treat. Jon IT Infrastructure Manager Pilgrim Hospital UK
  • Our box has 2Gig and I have restricted SQL to use a maximum of 1.4gig. Jon IT Infrastructure Manager Pilgrim Hospital UK
  • The rediscover funtion within Orion should automatically change any information it finds different from a previous scan, when we've changed nodenames, they've automaticlaly changed within node details once the rediscover happens. If I rember right the rediscover is set to every 30 mins. HTH Jon IT Infrastructure Manager…
  • Wer had a similar issue with some of our 3COM switches and what we did was change the SNMP ver to 1 as during the upgrade it defaults all SNMP versions for all devices to 2c. HTH Jon
  • Denny Remote management of Orion would be great it would save having to use RDP all the time, some way of creating\running reports and creating maps from a client pc that automatically runs them\save them from and to the Orion install. We did have the remote admin pack which went some of the way there but having to copy…
  • The new v8 integration will only work with 7.6 of Orion. IT Infrastructure Manager Pilgrim Hospital UK
  • If you click edit in the top right hand corner of the resource after you've opened a config it has a line numbers tick box, this removes the line numbers. Jon
  • When I first installed IPMonitor I was testing it with the Solarwinds TFTP service and at the time it was stopped the alert worked but I could not work out how to get it to start the service and haven't had anytime to look further into it. I'll let you know if when I find the result I'm looking for.
  • Thanks for your help. I know what you mean about an export button. I e-mailed development about it and they said it sounded like a good idea but they would not be able to get it out in v8 but a future version. A bit pointless really considering all of us that have been testing it in the beta and will have to re-setup in…
  • I've had the same problem, Solarwinds sent me a pactch that fixed the problem. Have you isntalled Beta 2 yet as this probably has all the patches in the product. HTH Jon IT Infrastructure Manager Pilgrim Hospital UK
  • I've got a similar problem on v8.1 I've got our APC UPS temp monitors setup as custom MIB pollers and on our remote poller it polls perfectly fine and all the time but on our main Orion server it will only poll between 08:00 and 18:00 and even then it drop during these hours. I had a call in with support and they couldn't…
  • Steve I've been looking at this problem as well but as yet can't find the solution, I've asked Solarwinds support if you can create a report based on the last time data seen on a port which is part of the inventory but at the moment you can't. This would be the perfect solution for us, it seems odd that you can't report on…
  • I'm thinking of a general customer area that we can post Custom MIB details that we are using but also post customisations to Orion that we've made, custom reports we think other user would find useful, really anything that no non standard and would be useful to other users to make there lives easier. Jon IT Infrastructure…
  • At the moment Orion does not support the polling of MIB tables which it soundlike the CDP info is in, it's a much requested feature that I'm sure Solarwinds are working hard on for its customers. Sorry for the bad news before Christmas.
  • See It would seem it's a bug and will be sorted in 8.5 HTH Jon
  • I'm running v7.0.5 and it's a real pain as our director wants to start getting reliable stats out of the system and at the moment with all the packet loss that happens the stats are not very reliable at all. Roll on 7.5 if it's going to resolve this issue. Jon IT Infrastructure Manager Pilgrim Hospital UK
  • I'm having a similar problem, nodes show they are down or very high packet loss but if I try to telnet of ping them they are fine and not having any problems. This seems to affect multiple devices at a time. The rest of the network is fine and not overstretched. I dropped the ICMP packet size right down and increased the…
  • Below capture from NPM.
  • I think part of the reason you can't download the PIX config is because the PIX is not running a 100% version of IOS it's still a hybrid OS which would explain why the Cisco tools will not work. As for the 3000 it could be a similar issue, I don't know. Also have you checked to make sure that the PIX will accept SNMP…
  • I second that Orion has been extremely useful for us particular the various alert options available and the ability to monitor any SNMP enabled device. HTH Jon IT Infrastructure Manager Pilgrim Hospital UK
  • Currently we have the main Orion box located on our central site with a seperate SQL box and 1 poller on a remote site, we envisage putting out at least a further 2 possibly 3 remote pollers to support sites that will be supporting in the next 6 months. What we did learn from this was that the main Orion box if it's not…
  • Appologies for the bad question. In node management you can select multiple nodes to make changes to all there properties at once but if you want to make similar changes to interfaces under a node you have to select each individual interface and then click edit properties.
  • I would be interested in the screen shots as I've been looking into viewing Orion from our IPAQ's particularly once our wireless network goes in later this year. Thanks Jon IT Infrastructure Manager Pilgrim Hospital UK
  • This is the same for Cirrus and Orion and I think its because Cisco have changed the location of the model in the MIB.
  • I've created the report and it works perfectly fine in report writer but when I try and run it from the web page it show an error INCORRECT SYNTAX NEAR THE KEYWORD 'WHERE'. Any ideas? Thanks JMP the code works great. Jon IT Infrastructure Manager Pilgrim Hospital UK
