That was embarrassing. I've got it all working now, pulling Pool availability info from HPE MSAs. When I was developing it, at some point I put the san variable name as $sans (because the script originally did multiple SANs), then changed it to $SAN in one place, but it still worked because the variable $SANs was still…

Disabled polling, re-enabled polling, it now isn't coming back - collecting info. So I've moved it to a different poller, the primary, where Orion VMAN is installed. Problem solved. It was now updated metrics and changed the datastore name. So it does not poll correctly when the node is being monitored by a poller other…

Unfortunately this won't work, there is nothing common to all datastores, we need to be able to return a complete list in search. This feature was/is available in the appliance. Also in the appliance we could drill down further and/or export the list. The filtering looks good, but we should be able to export the list. The…

All sorted now, it seems my ticket must have fallen through the gaps - these things happen. Spoke to Kevin in Ireland who was brilliant. We had already rebooted the system, and that restored the cpu usage to 'near' previous (pre-upgrade) levels. Bearing in mind significant new features are included in the latest release -…

In case anyone else has similar issues with high cpu after the upgrade my case number was 1001924

Still slightly confused. We can upgrade to VMAN and it will use Orion Log Viewer for VMware events, and because it is installing that it will swap over syslog and traps to this new Orion Log Viewer, all included, no licensing hiccups. Any rules we have we have to manually re-create. Note. How would we know what these…

2020.2.1 is out today. One of the fixes is; PowerShell script monitors pass user credentials to target machines after upgrading to SAM 2020.2 or later. So that will fix an important issue for me, which has cost me a lot of time and effort. One small problem, when I go to 2020.2.1 very soon, what will be broken afterwards !

It's worth mentioning I've just updated this - some machines which had agents didn't like doing the Invoke-Command remotely - don't know why just now, so now I check if it's running as the agent (if so it's runs as SYSTEM, and that is typically run as the [None] credential. $sysname = '${Node.SysName}' $creds = '{$creds}'…

Sorry for the delay in replying, I missed the original. I still have that problem on one server, so moved it back to WMI polling for now. Since then I have upgraded to the latest release, 2020.2, but haven't applied the Hotfix yet (it doesn't say anything about fixing high-cpu issues), re-tested, and still have the same…

Yes, because VMAN Orion didn't work at all for me. Case # 00115308, ongoing. Put back whilst I dealt with a whole load of instability problems. Case # 00116803 - Application Dependency monitoring (the connections inbetween nodes/applications) doesn't work at all for me. Got it working on my test system but it's not…

Found a couple more things. You have to put polling in to basic mode if you have an agent on Hyper-V host. It then warns that some metrics won't be available. Also, the appliance OS doesn't get upgraded when you upgrade the appliance. You have to build a new VMAN appliance then migrate all the data. I have something like…

When I had that some time back we had to upgrade the Solarwinds integration on Service Now portal.

Good idea, so I added that to the first and second script, and ran it on the main poller (Windows 2019, test set up) and got; Message.FirstScript:5.1.17763.771Statistic.FirstScript:NaN Message.SecondScript:5.1.17763.771Statistic.SecondScript:NaN Which suggests the script is running using PowerShell 5.1. Despite the…

Yes, I was going to say that. Items haven't failed, period, but fail now and again, I set out that in my case over 287 polls (24 hours) component availability has ranges from 96.5% to 99.65%, so it's failing on all items (none at 100%) and typically just for one cycle. Same message about TLS/SSL channel. My case is 1001037…

Ah, read elsewhere, there is a table "ContainerMemberDefinitions" and it shows in 'Expressions' column some dynamic groups. Solarwind dynamic groups So I'll have a list by exporting to Excel then sorting them in to order.

ps. Alerting goes because Information Service goes in to partial faulted state, and alerting actually references part of the site via Information Services. To restart alerting restart Alerting and Information Services services. I have opened about the same number of cases in the last two weeks that I've opened over the…

Hi, I had this problem with Winsock connections, I was given Tweaking performance of Windows Server - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support and followed that, and I've definitely had less issues. Yes, after the upgrade, this problem suddenly appeared. I believe in this article we are setting an extra TCP/IP…

I uninstalled SCM and SAM and then ran the beta, this time it select VMAN by default, but also had a "Additional Product" selection, so I was able to select SAM and SCM, and it's installed them. Unfortunately the config wizard gives; Website configuration failed: • • Access to the path 'C:\Program Files…

In the end our SQL really didn't become unresponsive - which is the first time ever that server has had this issue. I went to SQL 2016 SP2 because it was required for NTA migration. About 7 days ago Microsoft released SQL SP2 CU1 - which includes a fix for parallelism, and I've applied that. Touch wood and all that. But I…

yes, I was one of the first to turn back from streamed to buffered, and that did seem to help, but didn't solve all the problems. I currently have 9 outstanding tickets open with Solarwinds for all sorts of problems. I have opened more tickets in the last 4-5 weeks that in the last 3 years. This has been a nightmare…
-
Tech Support are aware of an issue and I changed (in Advanced on template) from Agent to Agentless, and that did the trick.
-
I had many tickets open for several weeks but didn't hear anything back on the WMI polling issue, certainly no ZIP files to fix the problem, even thought I added this url to the ticket. In the end I gave up and closed all the tickets as none were getting anywhere. I started re-writing all my scripts as a workaround. My…

Hi Serena, In the end I consider the upgrade to be so immature I dare not try it - so I bottled it. As it happens all future upgrades since have been worthless since I can't get to a position where I am comfortable with what Solarwinds have done. It is very disappointing as you bring in new features we can't even access…

I have an open ticket, Case # 1001037, for this. We ping many dozens of HP iLO and Dell iDRAC cards, and have had thousands of errors over the last few weeks. Typically it goes down for one ping cycle (5 mins). I've sent off the usual full log bundle, plus debug logs, but it's been quite a while since I used WireShark and…

I'm having all sorts of problems with data not collecting on some hosts - although you'd really have no idea it wasn't working, displays green, but the metrics aren't being collected. I discovered this because I've gone around to various Riverbed appliances which have ESXi installed - they are WAN accelerators some of them…

Ok, so I can search for them. It's not great because what I want to do is select all datastores, then filter down to what I want. This free-form searches-anything has the disadvantage of bringing a lot of things back which I don't want. A better way was, as in the original Appliance, to be able to search for all or a…

Since I logged the call on the 15th I have had ZERO contact from Solarwinds support - they have not even started the ticket, despite it being logged as 'High'. What are we paying maintenance for?

I don't think I have any Dynamic groups, but I can't be sure. I saw some before and removed them and added everything manually. But I can't be sure there aren't some there. I've looked through all the attributes in Reporting but can't see anything which would identify a group being dynamic. If you had dynamic groups how…
