Thanks aLTeReGo, most of these devices are non standard IT equipment. Anything from cameras to UPSs to modems etc. I have found in many cases that the SSH interface is very limited (if at all) while all of them have a HTTP interface for management in some form or fashion. We have some home grown software that does some of…

thanks curtisi, I have since figured how to modify some of the connectors to do some of what I need. However I did want to ask a follow up question. So there is no way to clone and customize the generic connectors for MS Event logs, ie- ntapplication.xml, or ntsystem.xml? Thanks!

Thanks for posting these links! it saved my bacon

I had no issues going from 11.0.1 to 11.5.1. Though we haven't upgraded SAM to 6.2 yet.

what version of NPM are you using?
-
sorry ust saw this. yes im interested in the correct SWQL math
-
cool. Thanks!

tdanner, There is no equivalent verb to DiscoverInterfacesOnNode for volumes, correct? I am looking to do something similar for volumes. Also how do you know what properties you can use with some of these commands like DiscoveredInterfaces.DiscoveredLiteInterface? I can't figure out how to do a get-member on this command…

Thanks for asking serena! Our priorities would be: -the standard WMI-based node polling (volumes, cpu, memory, asset inventory, etc)* -the WMI based utilities in NPM (Real-Time Process Explorer, Service Control Manager, Real-Time Event Log Viewer, Reboot) -IPAM Windows DHCP/DNS monitoring *Make sure to include mapping the…

Thank you RichardLetts. That was what I feared. I am surprised this is what is done because I have heard that it is not uncommon to use a SNMP table in this fashion. However I will create a feature request for a more robust implementation and update this post. thanks again.

you have to configure SNMP community strings on your devices in order to monitor above ICMP only. Do you know if SNMP is enabled and what the community string is?
-
I don't see any defined in SWQL studio for NCM. Is that right Solarwinds? thank you
-
Nicole, How do you update a UDG using a CSV file as you mention above? I followed the SolarWinds KB to modify a KB but I don't see an import option or another way to insert a CSV file. Thanks

I have questions about how this resource works period. Even though I have a job that runs daily downloading configs, NCM only keeps them if they change. However it seems because I have this option set I can't use ant timeframe other than "since last update". Jiri Cvachovec, can you help us understand how this resource…

Thanks! I had tried CONCAT but I must have had some syntax wring when I did. Thanks again
-
jbiggley, did you try using the SAM SNMP Component Monitor?
-
thanks @tdanner!
-
mesverrum, I thought of UNDP but this does not allow you to monitor the table dynamically. What if one day there is 5 rows of data and another day there is 3? I don't expect this data to be that dynamic but I do expect it to flucuate from day to day. I was hoping web based pollers would be an option here but I do not see…

Just curious, what is the tool name?

Michael, Where can you get a more up to date version of the local help files? thanks jc
-
Thanks Jiri! I didn't notice that column. Since I am going to be pulling this information from multiple devices but only want one device to appear in the report I think it would be easier to pull this info as a custom config type. This seems like it would make the report generation easier. I just need to figure out how to…

Yeah, still not seeing it. Is this a bug in 7.3.2?
-
Sweet!! thanks

For the ASA you should be able to use syslog messages 111005-111010 to accomplish what you want. It comes down to what syslog message you want to use to trigger the RTCN script.

works like a champ! Thanks Jan!

I would recommend rebuilding your environment and upgrading to 12.2. I have about 30-40 discoveries that run accros multiple pollers and do not see this issue. I have had discoveries that run as often as every 5-6 hours with no issues. Just make sure the poller that is running the discovery is also the poller responsible…
-
Yes tdanner is correct. tdanner, I am trying to write a PS script that will turn off polling of certain statistics based on whether a node is a member of a certain group. I am writing this script because there is no way to turn off polling of certain statistics during network discovery. You can only decide what interfaces…

I see it in both SWQL and a report using SWQL. However when I run the subquery it returns results and then when I run the whole query I get no results. This report worked a few days ago before I upgraded to NPM 12.2.

I was trying to do this too a few weeks ago and basically I found this thread. Basically it says create an alert action that generates a message in the SolarWinds event log table if you want to store SAM component messages historically. I think its pretty ghetto given the sophistication of the product but thats all I…

Absolutely will! Our biggest desire is being able to compare costs of running specific sets of machines on our own infrastructure versus AWS or Azure...
