I think you can use a Orion Maps widget and display Group icons only on the map. I havent played much with the new maps but I know with Atlas you could do this.

We do something similar except we just use discoveries to automatically add in new volumes. for us it gets the job done.

do you have an ip address on your source interface (vlan7)? I would verify the switch has reachability from this interface to orion. Also for giggles I would check to make sure the Orion server's firewall and any network firewall in the way is not blocking udp 2055. HTH
