When will this feature be available?
-
Does not feel good when other inter-department shows a tool that can send alerts when nodes no longer responding to SNMP and we cannot duplicate that in Solarwinds.
-
Wonder how this would work in the event that TACACS is not available for whatever reason... lets say TACACS Servers "melt" or just go off line for any reason... OR a network event in which tacacs is unreachable.. would this integration with tacacs render the ability to log into Solarwinds null, since SW wont be able to…

You can setup complex Alert trigger conditions. https://documentation.solarwinds.com/en/success_center/orionplatform/content/core-building-complex-conditions-sw971.htm?cshid=orioncoreag_alertsbuildingcomplexconditions Hope that helps.
-
If you wan to change the SNMP strings using Solarwinds, you'd have to execute a script via Solarwinds NCM.
-
I do "show BGP Sum" on the router to look at the number of BGP " active routes, received routes, accepted routes, and damped routes" get the OID for your specific router which would display these values and create a custom poller if the number of routes drop. I do this in our environment and works just fine. good luck.

wondering what other tool you might be using to deploy configs to multiple devices at once. I find NCM also very useful for compliance.. ie. to find which devices are configured with incorrect snmp strings, or any other config line...
-
post a snapshot of your "alert Actions" and email settings.
-
running NPM 11.5.2 now and did notice that we can include "Node Down time" variable which displays in minutes... Though, have to agree that reading "Down time 16hrs 4min" would be much easier than " Down time 964 mins"

This is a Cisco 2911. issued 'sh int status' sh ip int br' 'sh hardware' 'sh int'
-
velvetmidget, NCM>JOBS, search for and edit the built-in Network Inventory job. choose all of your devices, then you can select to update everything that applies to what you want to see... Hope this helps!

Lester, did you get to the bottom of why the custom property caused so many issues? How was this resolved? Did SW support mentioned how this issue can be avoided? I have many 'true/false' and 'text' custom properties and won't be a happy camper (as I'm sure you weren't) spending hours fixing this.. thanks!
-
if you see your changes in the startup config, they must be in the running config.... "wr" copies the running config to startup.
-
Thanks for the reply d09h, but replacing ciscos with junipers so different interfaces numbering and can't keep historical info.
-
no luck yet!
-
looks like i'm a little late for the party.... but almost 5 years later this template still works like a champ... thanks
-
Thanks for the detailed info ZackM, you mentioned "a couple of things to remember when thinking about the ICMP polling intervals" I'm assuming the same goes for SNMP ?
-
following up on what "i_like_eggs" mentioned, you could set up your alerts to trigger when utilization has been over 90% for more than X minutes and then have the alert to clear once the CPU utilization has been less than 85% for X minutes...
-
tsowers... I would most definitely migrate everything to new HW, make sure that all modules and components are working correctly for a couple of days/weeks, and then do the upgrade.
-
Quick question, Under Settings -> Polling Settings -> Network -> ICMP Data, I see "Solarwinds Status Query" should this be changed to a numerical value ? Thanks!
-
THANK YOU! This fixed the issue I was seeing (Next Poll -in the past)
-
This is an interesting one... I did an snmp walk (thanks HolyGuacamole) and the walk is picking up G0/3 from the device. It is accurately being listed in SW as a resource, but this interface does not appear anywhere on the device it self. Hmmmm.
-
I'm using NCM 7.5 and under "All Reports" there's already a very detailed CDP neighbor report you can run. In case this report does not show you all of your devices/interfaces, you will have to run an inventory update.
-
No issues at all. Solarwinds dev group really thought about this thoroughly to make the upgrade smoooooooth. much props to dev team!
-
gsmith, This is exactly what I was looking for !!! Great work, much appreciated

Edit your resource and filter

I agree with Mark's comments on the new features of NCM, Sure we can create 20 different custom properties, but we didn't have to do that with previous version... Mark, pretty sure you figured it out by now, but you CAN run your jobs without waiting the 15 minutes.... simply chose your job and click the "enable" green…
-
Solarwinds has to do a better job at rendering, delivering these PDF reports. What I have heard from management is that I need to print a professional ,and not something that looks like a "print screen" snapshot.
-
Ajacinth, the only time I've experienced similar symptoms is RIGHT after all services were restarted... which cleared within a few minutes. I would check to make sure all services are running from your "Orion Service Manager" also reload your wedpage and check again...

Where you able to get this resolved ? I have opened at least 3 different cases about this and this morning still dealing with the same issue.
