After some more work on our ticket, support sent me an updated SolarWinds.MapEngine.dll file to replace the one in the inetpub/Solarwinds/bin folder. That helped the website a lot - big improvement but we still had performance issues. Reading another thread on this forum, someone suggested removing and reinstalling the…

We upgraded to SP3 yesterday and still have to restart IIS a few times per day. We have two servers: one a collector/IIS server and a second as DB server. The DB server is purring along, but since the upgrade the collector server's CPU utilization stays over 95%! Our support ticket is still open and still working on the…

jlintner, is the guy able to log in to Orion website with his account? Yes - he is able to login to the NPM interface without any problem, and he is able to managege/add/change/remove devices.
-
if the user name and password used for NA works in Orion, try to check the time on the local machine. If the time between server and client differs by more than 5 minutes, you cannot log in. The clients and server are all domain members in the same time zone (In the same building..) and yes, the time is accurate on them…

I can run Network Atlas on my workstation, and the polling server. But...I installed it on a co-workers workstation and he is not able to log into the application. He has the exact same rights as I do in NPM, so I can't figure this out. Yes, he has the ability to edit nodes (and do everything else as he's a full blown…

Thanks for the info Rajiv - it helps. Yesterday our polling server crashed (I think it was a hung job by Netbackup), but right now everything is up and responding good. I ran those queries and here is what I found: Locate any duplicate IP Addresses in the Nodes table I found one device listed twice. I removed one and…

One of my co-workers rebooted the server and resolved the issue. I was trying to find the source, but lost that opportunity, until the next time this happens. Once it happens, it's like that for all images that are backgrounds for maps created using the Network Atlas tool. It doesn't matter if it's a GIF or JPG file. These…

I suppose I need to open a support ticket, since I don't have the option to monitor the interface...

John--did you download the eval copy of Orion 9.5 SP4 or Orion 9.5.1? Sorry for the confusion I just want to get all the information so I can route you correctly. M Eval 9.5 SP2. Then I tried to apply SP4 from our customer portal and I think that threw out the license failures.

We have a security policy in place to only use SNMPv3, which means we can't receive V3 traps using Orion NPM. Does anyone have an idea of when this will be updated to support SNMPv3 traps?

Can I get a summary of fixes and new features between 10.1.3 and 10.5? We also have IPSLAMGR 3.5.1, NCM 6.1 and NTA 3.7. Ideally, I want to upgrade all of these at one time.

I have some Big IP 6400's and they were identified properly. They are running version 9.3.1, and we are using SNMPv3.

Thanks for the reply Andy. We turned off the CBQoS feature for NTA and that made the largest improvement in regards to our database performance. I have been working with the SAN team here and they are working on allocating SAN space for the databases. Since they know SANs, we will leave the actuall RAID design to them…

We have a specific view for a read-only login which is used for our main 50" big screens placed near the upper management area. Otherwise, I have a two column view for my logon. I wish we could compress the data a little more on the big-screen view.

Here are my options in a new alert:

Hmm...9.1 doesn't have that option - I can't unselect ping, nor select SNMP as a new option. Someone else here used a SQL script to add it in the database, but it was across the board with one SNMP string. I just got 9.1 approved through our change process. I'd have to start that again to upgrade to 9.5, plus I'm not sure…

Excellent!! back in Business. Now I just need to find the darn Call Manager MIBs. I'm looking for call manager MIBs too - let me know when/if you find any.

No, I have not used NCM to backup the sidewinder config. They use a proprietary DR config backup format, so the NCM config would not be useful if a full recovery is needed. I guess for CM tracking, NCM may useful but the Sidewinder admin console can query logs for change tracking.

Also, are you using CBQoS actively in NTA? If not, you can disable that as well, see here for more info on that. I tried this fix, since we are not using CBQoS at the time. Now the Netflow service doesn't start - error in the config file. We are using NTA 3.5. One of the errors from the system log on the server: Syntax…

We have a similar situation, but seemed to have most of it resolved...at least for now! If we still get SQL server timeouts, then we'll have to go to SAN storage for the databases, and possibly split them all out to seperate LUNS! Our polling server: Dell 2950, 2 CPU, 8GB memory, running Win2k3R2 64 bit, C: drive is a pair…

As for memory - I think you're OK at 14GB. I'm not a DBA either, but this is kind of standard DBA practice: keep the DB log files on different physical disks from the database files, and also look at the TEMP database - that one seems to get a lot of activity. Don't put the Temp or Orion database files (logs and/or…

I'm getting this error again and not sure why. Both of our servers (polling and database) are domain members and are both in sync with the DCs. The systray clocks show the same time, so from what I can tell, the servers are in time sync.
-
Make sure all of your Solarwinds services are running on the polling server(s). Also check your database server for lots of free drive space. I've filled the drives on my DB server (other app database was the cause) and it seemed to still poll and alert, but historical data was not available. Once the space issue was…

Unfortunately, unless you contact support to get a direct DL link, you can't get the "in between" versions. So my upgrade(s) actually took me about 6 hours, but that was because I had to get help from support, and have them send me links to step the components up following a specific upgrade path. There are PDF file…

Getting ready to upgrade my Orion apps tonight. Hopefully this will go smooth for me since I have a somewhat small maintenance window (three hour) and not a real solid plan for backout. I currently have these versions: * NPM 9.5 SP4 * NCM 5.5.1 * NTA 3.5 * VoIP monitor 2.1 From what I've been reading, I should be good on…

While you get APM in house, you could use the free WMI tool here to pull the Exchange counter We don't have any current plans for APM at this time. That's why I was asking if there was any other way?

It would be nice to also add the search to the top bar of the webpage! Having the ability to quickly locate a device from any screen would be great. I added it to one of my primary dashboard views using the view editor.
