I too inherited a similar configuration. I am the one that stood up a new server and I debated about going virtual rather than physical. In the end, I made the decision to stay with it being physical. I agree that moving the sql to your cluster is a better design unless you have issues connecting to the cluster. Just my…

Never been in workspace that could support some much green. The closest that I have been is a lobby full of fake plants........

Unfortunately, company policy prohibits taking photographs of any work area. I guess I miss out.....

I too had that same success with the upgrade.

What is the version of th IOS running on the 3850? I remember that Cisco and SW told me there is a bug in the OID reporting the temperature value to SW. I was told to upgrade to fix the issue. I am in the middle of switch refresh and am rolling out switches that are Cat3K 3.4.0 version but I have 3.7.0 downloaded. When I…

Holy cow! That is some data moving around.

I came across that same issue today. I will try your suggestions as well. Thanks!

ACS supports TACACS+ and Radius. You might look into those options. Do you have any form of LDAP conections available?
-
I have not seen it have that capability. I believe the IPAM solution from Solarwinds can do that. We have that issue occasionally and IPAM is something we are looking at to assist.

This is interesting. I ftp'd a default config.ini from the APC management module after configuring the defaults that I wanted and stored it on my Solarwinds server. Then anytime I fire up a new APC UPS, I have a script in SW that logs into the new device and then FTP's the config.ini and the necessary support files (SSL…

Is there a number in () on either of the endpoints. I have a netpath that travels from my Solarwinds box to an external website and it groups all the same hosts in an Autonomous System together. But, I can double-click on each AS and it will expand and show all the hops in that AS. I have not setup between any Windows…

See this post. I used it and got all my 3850's setup on Flexible Netflow v9 NetFlow on Cisco Switches: NetFlow v9 configuration for Cisco Catalyst 3850 Hope this helps. If not, I can sanitize and send you some of my configs. I have it sending to both my SW and to my SIEM boxes.

As I am converting to newer ASA firewalls, I could see this being of benefit.

The only times I have had issues with Test Failed is that the string was mistyped (it is case sensitive) or that I was using the wrong version of SNMP. The only other time that I have had Test Failed when the SNMP engine on the target was not responding.

Sorry, did not mean to confuse. I used version 4 of the Switch Miner application. I found it on SourceForge. SwitchMiner | Switch Port Mapper | Switch Port Mapping | Port Mapping | Port Mapper So, I configured my target by re-enabling v2c with a community string. I also put the same v2c community string on the Core NX-OS…

A slight update that I have not had a chance to test in SW. I download another application for a remote clinic and it had a feature with more detail that Switch Port Mapper. However, it could not handle SNMPv3 at all. I needed to resolve an issue so I temporary enabled a SNMPv2c community string on both the target switch…

I ended up for another reason enabling IP Routing on my switches. At least then, I can use the option for layer 3 from the switch to map out my ports. It is not ideal but at least I get the necessary data that I need when I need it. Just waiting patiently for the tool to be updated........

I too just sparked but the link and noticed the changes. I definitely approve!!

conceptionally, couldn't a regex be developed that could look at the current and stored configs and only report/alert if changes between the comment sections of !core_config_begin and !core_config_end. I am not sure how to write it in solarwinds but I have done something very similar on linux systems using perl and regular…

Is this an issue with the version of IOS on the switches? I have an issue with 3850 switches showing the temperature is critically low and cisco states that it is an issue with SNMP on the IOS version running on the switch and recommended updating the firmware. I have not had a maintenance window to try it in.

I am running mine on Windows 2012 R2 for over 8 months and I have no issues.
-
What version of the IOS are you running on the 3850. I have similar issues. I upgrade to 3.6.x and the issue has been resolved. I am in the middle of switch refresh project so I cannot upgrade all my switches but they are running 3.3.x and suffer from the issue. When the project is complete, I will have to go back and…

I believe there is already a compliance report you can run provided all 500 are in Solarwinds that will tell you in they are running SSH or not. I ran it when I first started with this company. Then I found out versions needed to be upgraded to support SSH. But, at least that is where I started.

Thank you to all current and former soldiers!

I have uploaded a 3850 stack and a 3750 stack as well.

Do we need to sanitize these before sending? Concerned regarding security.

Looks like a pretty cool environment and a great team building exercise. Not all of us are so fortunate as the dress code is more restrictive in my environment. Cheers!

Or at least provide a message prompt, that states something like "Network traffic/logs/traps received from an unknown source. Click here to manage the device" That way if something accidentally sends data to SW you as the admin have the option to control its import. But, that way the need to run full discovery is reduced.
