Significantly interesting tips. Thoughts that are maybe taken for granted but sometimes need to be reminded. Thanks for the posting.

I love that analogy about patching. I may have to use that one!!! Great article sqlrockstar

Interesting article. The one thing I have not heard anyone say regarding the hybrid setup. The bandwidth required to connect to the cloud. SaaS licensing at times make it look more appealing but I work in healthcare and as one of the primary targets for breaches, on-prem is considered a better solution for protection. That…

Just show the need to ensure security first before rushing to get products in front of consumers.

We don't use any solutions but it would be great to gain an insight and understanding into the world of the user and as a computer scientist I would relish the capabilities that could come from such modeling. However, time will tell.

Something I have not directly thought about. What would I do if the SW failed? We run on a physical server to ensure we can maintain monitoring in the event of a virtual environment failure. Maybe I need to think about the hardware and how to keep it backed up. Thanks!

Interesting article. What the Java Virtual Machine was supposed to be. May have to spark up a test system or two. Thanks for posting!

I think I would tend to agree that the overhype is the cloud. I do not think that we have enough time invested in the security principles to blindly accept that just because they say it is say in the cloud does not prove it to be so. I would like companies like Microsoft would be shelling millions of man-hours into…

I recently had the need to configure multiple Nexus 5500 switches as part of a SAN configuration. To use the graphical tool, required running a java GUI for each switch, working through several layers of menus, and finally editing the interfaces, and the save and apply those changes. After the 4th switch, I had figured out…

Helpful information.

I use to use this feature in the Engineering Toolset (Advanced Switchport Mapper) to do that but it is broken on Nexus switches and still only works on Catalyst switches. But having this integrated into NCM would be awesome. Or could this functionality also be gleaned from integrating UDT?

We need more reinforcement of the basics of computing security. Seems that even 30 years later, social engineering is still the winning solution to accessing systems.

Helpful information, thanks!

I learned long ago to be like the medical field. Keep your emotions in check, stay logically focused. Go through your list of variables. Keeping calm and patient. When things are resolved, go find some way to vent off that emotional baggage. Has carried me through some awful times and allowed me to keep customers.

So what happened? DId you lives change? Did it become a reality? In my part of the country, 100-500MB are the norm. I believe that Gigabit is possible but not needed yet. Thanks to NPM, I know what my usage is.

This was an enjoyable posting and a great series. Thanks!

It is amazing what some objective data can provide to the higher ups when situations go sideways. I agree that you should invest in more of the Solarwinds Suite. More than a time or two, those products together have proven that the network itself was not the problem but some attached was. Good luck!!!!
