I monitor several SQL instances with SAM and AppInsight for SQL. There are a couple of possibilities. * The instance may or may not be on the default SQL port of 1433. If an SQL server holds multiple databases, then they will all be on different ports, even if one of the instances is on the default port. * To monitor with…

I just walked through a handful of the 85 or so printers we have on campus. Most of my HP printers show up correctly. The HP LaserJet P3005 and P3015 don't show anything. The UnDP requirement must be different for those models. Darn manufactures deviating from their own standards. If only I could buy a whole fleet of a…

I am doing this with a set of HP Printer Universal Device Pollers that I downloaded from Thwack a couple of years ago. I am not able to find the post I downloaded them from right now. I have the pollers displayed on the printer node pages.

Which core are you on now? I have Orion Platform 2017.3.2 SP2 and I still see it.

I mostly use SSH Secure Shell. www.ssh.com. We don't have a ton of devices though so I have not run into a limit yet. At one time I tried to get NPM or NCM's old telnet link to fire up an ssh program directly, but never got it working. Now that link isn't even there in the products. That would be the other wish list item.…

I am seeing this same thing happening every time I save a map change now. If I delete the wrong one of the duplicates that are part of any nested maps, I usually have to re-edit those as well, then those crash while saving. Very annoying.

WS-C4510R+E Cisco Chassis is identified as Wireless Autonomus AP, but it is really a 10-slot switch/router chassis with Supervisor 7 cards. 15.0(1)XO, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc4) This is a fairly new device.

We are an organization that has many parts/departments/agencies, however you want to think of it. We kind of need something like account limitations to allow an agency to only see what is in their domain. Think along the lines of a multi-tenant solution and limiting each "tenant", or at a minimum their write/change ability…

I have had that happen in the past with newer models that were not properly recognized with the built in MIB. They eventually corrected themselves after SolarWinds updated the MIBs with an update patch or new release. You might look at the "View Type" on the edit page. Maybe change it specifically to something like "Node…

So here is one bias sensor example I have been chasing. The first one is after an alarm trigger, the second is after trigger reset. I am looking primarily at Gi 1/0/10 in these. This one port triggers and resets multiple times a day. It is almost like there is an SFP in the port, but a fiber is unplugged, and it…

I have the same problem. I am not sure I want to totally disable them such that they don't collect data (voltage and current in the case of the bias sensors), but I want to enable hardware alerts, but ignore these special case issues. This seems to be overly complicated at the moment.

As I recall when this happened to us, I found the SNMP value field only had the 0 - 255 capability. This is on the Cisco hardware itself, SolarWinds just read what Cisco put there. We had a couple of switches in sheds that rolled over below zero and showed very high temps in the 200 range. I did an SNMP walk on the Cisco…

In my environment, there are 3 instances I see multiple unique MAC addressed attached to a port. One is if it is a trunk port, the other if I have a PC attached to a Cisco phone attached to the port, and finally, if there is a 'dumb' switch attached to a port with multiple devices attached to that. I don't know your…

I am still struggling with an alert for this. The group I am working with wants an alert rather than view the charts or even a report.
-
I may be missing it, but I don't see those Percent Errors or Discards in my view. I have been asked to create an alert on exactly that information. Alert if an interface has > x% errors. All I had so far was the Top xx Errors & Discards to go on. This is just a running total, not a percentage. I could really use what you…

I upgraded to 11.5.2 Monday. I can't list resources on any node for some reason. I had to open a support case and am currently collecting diagnostics. I have not seen any other issues yet, and Network Atlas is behaving better now.

Just out of curiosity, is the controller interface telling you there are rogues on the wired network? I have never actually seen that number be other than 0 on our campus. This does assume you have something in place to detect rogue APs on the wire like an AP in Rogue Detector mode. For reporting and security purposes,…

I agree with the correct answer selected here. Now for the gotcha. I have a few nodes where the unknown interfaces still won't go away even following these instructions. My suspicion is that the devices were changed out with a different model, and the new devices don't have those interfaces at all. Now I can't seem to…

Next achivement goal: 1,000,000 points.

I had a similar issue after the most recent upgrade, but I couldn't list resources on any node. I installed Orion Platform v2015.1.2 – HotFix2 and that resolved my issue.

If you add a resource on the Node Page called Last XX Notes, then it shows up. You can also add notes from the Node Page once it is there.

At my last job, we purchased an PDU with networking and a temperature sensor option. I think it was an APC. We needed the extra PDU connections, but gained the ability to monitor the temperature sensor and power draw on the PDU via SNMP. We only got one sensor each for our main and secondary data centers, then I was able…

I have recently seen some of the variables in our alerts not translating as well, but I had not looked into the reason yet, or at least not looked into this possible reason. It sounds like I need to look at what is happening on our CPUs. I know at my last position I had problems with my SolarWinds Information Service…

I just got mine as well.

In additional thought related to the idea presented of tying this certification to your companies license. What happens if any of us were to change jobs? Instant loss of access to whatever benefits there were of the annual subscription due to our status as SolarWinds admins for a specific company? I am not really in favor…

My supervisor has already started looking for other solutions to specific alert problems/requests SolarWinds isn't solving. It does the bulk of what we need, but he won't let us learn/work with the SDK on the production environment, and out lab environment is basically useless being fire-walled off from any nodes to test…

In my past job, certifications were not a requirement, so were not eligible for training dollars. They did value continued learning, and had a very small budget for it. But that was the first thing to be cut if the budget was tight as the upper management (not CIO) decided that was not of business value. Hence all my…

I have thought about this, but have not implemented a solution yet. One thought was connect the VPN tunnel interfaces instead of just having the routing neighbors. It should accomplish the same thing, at least in my network.
-
I like the GNS3 option, but I had not set that up yet. In my last job, we had several "shelf-ware" switches that I tested all config scripts, IOS upgrades and policy templates on.

We have the same issue here across around 100 switches, mostly of the 3560X/3760X model series. One of our Network Engineers said he found this was a Cisco bug. I searched the Cisco Bugs and found a couple that seem to reference issues with improperly reporting power supplies across these models and more. These bug reports…
