This is a nice add by SolarWinds!

Every new advancement comes with risks. AI is here and will be improved. I'm concerned about misuse like brianj mentioned.

I'd agree that the "selfy isn't the root problem; it's the thrill seeking." combined with trying to impress others. 259 deaths in approx. 7 years, (or 37 deaths a year,) I would hardly classify as an Epidemic. Unless we want to include trying to impress others as an epidemic as well.

As a side note. One line per sentence double spaced is almost as difficult to read as all caps is, at least for me.

I found six of them that I could disable. I see warnings that the pollers have too many SAM components being monitored. IIS seems to have the most components being monitored and we don't use 3/4ths of them.

dilbert1234 I don't necessarily have a good comparison, but my understanding is that Pingdom is a SaaS solution and the transactions come from multiple locations across the world (you can select from the locations they provide.) WPM is something you install and the transactions originate within your Intranet. You would…

Done!

There is a way to do it using Windows Scheduled Tasks but it is a very outdated process. An enhancement to the processes is definitely needed!

I appreciate that the Venice Floods article also had a meteorologist weigh in. I have a knee jerk reaction to equate climate change with man made climate change. There are many reasons climate change could be happening and the meteorologist was able to put some science behind what is happening in this specific instance.

0 for 3 so far LOL!

I loved the first three questions, but don't feel thanked or appreciated with the forth question . Thanks @"alansmith" for listening closer than I could in the video.

What we need is the AI to clean the data for us. It isn't very intelligent otherwise, IMHO. I.E. If a human can clean it then why can't the AI?

At first I thought one of the answers was obvious wrong as it seemed to contradict another option. As I re-read the question I saw how today's question (July 11) could be tricky. Hopefully this doesn't give too much away or mislead anyone who hasn't answered yet.... But consider the question and the second option--- "The…

DanielleH Is the Thwack points allocation system broken again/still? I answered the two questions this week (and have done some other activities elsewhere) and noticed I have not received any points today. Thanks for checking!

"Dumb. Shameful. Downright rude." Isn't this the best description of a lot of business behavior?

I set up pi-hole at my house. That was great tip to use for both piratical use and a good API to play with.

Great, another time waster for me. Thanks edge.

That is what I thought until KMSigma shared "It's not the network" during a Seattle SWUG keynote. Then again he said "It's not my network!" so I think it is safe to say "it's ALWAYS the network" unless it is KMSigma's network.

... But his was a good article. I need good ways to keep up with trends in the industry and know what is happening outside of my company, (and within other groups of my company for that matter,) and what might be being sold to the higher-ups.

Does that mean all products will have to be upgraded at the same time? I assume there will be some backwards compatibility between the latest Orion version and a product that can't be upgraded at the same some for some reason?

Would a "failed triggered action" be emails that are not sent, scripts that don't execute, or other assigned actions that fail? There is an Event Summary widget that will display the events, which Alerts Triggered is one of them. Having Actions Executed a line item there would be helpful. It would indicate if there is a…

If the passwords are encrypted in a data breach then weak passwords are cracked faster than strong passwords. For example, the results of a quick google search showed that a seven character password can be cracked in .29 milliseconds while a 12 character password takes two centuries. Of course that all could change with…

That was a fun trip down your memory lane. Makes me want to travel more!

It's been a while since I've participated in the Monthly mission. I've forgotten to look at the comments before answering. I thought the purpose of the mission is to learn about the products. If you need to use a product to be able to answer questions there is no point trying questions for tools I haven't used. For…

Just throwing this out there... "According to the U.S. Chambers of Commerce, complying with federal regulations costs U.S. businesses over $46 billion a year." Costs and Benefits of US Government Regulations

I did the same. With so much information on the page it was tedious. I got the points but I'm wondering if it was worth my time.

As a non-DBA I appreciate the information shared here.

I learn something new everyday, and it is usually from Thwack.

5G could mean less time to flee a deadly hurricane, heads of NASA and NOAA warn - The Verge I don't understand the science behind how collecting data in the ocean affects 5G services on land. I know eventually hurricanes reach landfall, and maybe not having the data near land is the issue. From the article, "....you’ll…
