  • Ok so what you're saying is we have to maintain the Sonar discovery file? As far as the de-duplication is concerned it still looks like it only does it by IP address and not DNS name. My problem is that I have thousands of devices that I have manually changed over to loopback addresses from the non-loopback address that…
  • Mav, I have the same problem the gentleman who starte this thread. We're a very big NPM shop for over 5 years and we're running an eval version of UDT as a stand alone set up as to not mess up our NPM install. The problem actually extends to Cisco 6500 devices too, which is Cisco big enterprise product. I haven't checked…
  • I have a ticket open since yesterday, case 682578. Support is stumped. I just sent him diag
  • I used the FOE method. I turned off the FOE on the Primary, did the upgrade on the Primary. Then I turned on the FOE on the Primary and failed it over. Once failed over I stopped FOE on the Active secondary and then did the upgrade there (which failed). When I talked to support, they indicated the knowledge base specifies…
  • Created a Universal poller for OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.3.1.6. This catches temps. I then created an alert off the UDP.
  • Let me add to that, if you are using a SAN as storage, it better be a very fast one. Solarwinds pat answer on database storage in on board server RAID 10. In fact there server specs don’t even mention SAN
  • So just counting the nodes is not enough. Look at the total resources per poller (nodes and interfaces). For instance if you have 3200 nodes with just 1 interface on each you have 6400 resources. The standard answer from Solarwinds is about 10k resources per poller. NTA is a different animal. There is no polling taking…
  • A very large implementation of NPM will work on a virtual platform but not well. A large amount of devices and interfaces polled will eat up the interface resources causing issues with other virtual servers on the platform. As mentioned earlier, check Solarwinds system requirements
  • Roger that, that is the direction I decided to go with. Thanks all
  • Ok I have it figured out. The problem was that the two lines above this line were not filtered out so that preveneted this filter from working. I filtered the two lines above it which were also not needed and that solved the problem
  • Thank you. That worked perfectly
  • Ok color me confused. Where are these settings and tables.
  • No. Just taking a break a while before tackling it again. Let me know if you have any sucess
  • Thanks. That helped me find it.
  • Actually if you will just turn off routing resources and multicast in the node/list resources, you can re-enable topology resources. It's the walk of the ip route tables that causes the problem. It's going to become a mute point soon as Cisco support for the 65xx devices is aging out
  • Yep that would do it. Also what does the show cpu proc hist show. You might already be close to capacity and SNMP just puts it over the edge. If this is an end point distribution router and the router shows more than about 24000 routes you have a problem. 37xx routers have this same issue. You would have to summarize your…
  • Correct. I can use tabular reports for internal dept reports but execs want to see pretty pictures on a regular basis and we need to automate generation and propogation. You guys do a great job at collection and ad hoc reporting. Just need to do better at report generation to get that data to the masses.
  • Solarwinds keep saying they’re going to fix this issue with sales staff and nothing changes
  • It's gotten some what better. They still hit us at the speed of lite with a phone call the minute we download a trial but the follow up calls have definitely lessened. My biggest problem right now has shifted to the tech side. The last few releases have been very buggy. We've had to engage at the developer level for about…
  • Could you tell me what command you issued to turn the traps on for err-disabled
  • If you are a Solarwinds employee then you need to go back to customer relations training. Never ever start a discussion by saying no one else is reporting a trouble. Customers don't want to hear that. What they want to hear is an acknowledgement of the customers problem and what can we do to help fix it. Saying what you…
  • I have some very recent expierence with this. Don't use report writer. If you have a network of over about 1000 nodes the reports will either time out or just give you tabular data. There is a built in function for Network Wide Total Bytes Transfered that can be added by adding it to any summary page you already have or…
  • So below is the the absolutly ludicrouse response I got from support on the report issue. Not only is the issue not resolved, but the web reports actually show less data than the report writer version. I even sent them screen shots of both reports From: SolarWinds, Inc. [mailto:support@solarwinds.net] Sent: Friday, July…
  • Since our backup servers are in the data center, and we are backing up remote servers from outside the data center, you can bet we are pushing more than a gig across these 10g links. Even though backup traffic is typically not what is going to be monitored, electrically it’s still going across the wire and has to be…
  • While deploying spas to the server end points might work for applications that are windows based, it most certainly won’t work for applications such as people soft with oracle database server which are Unix/Linux based. In that instance the only way to monitor them is via the network PAS
  • I've pretty much known that was the answer all the time. I'm trying to play devils advocate here because Solarwinds support won't come out and say that. While I appreciate you responding, I actually want some one from Solarwinds to admit that is the case. In addition if they can trigger an alert for a down thin AP by…
  • Thanks I’ll try what you suggest
  • Actually I went back and looked closer and it is 2.4
  • I understand what you are saying. I don't like it but I understand it. So basically the option of using it as a web based product still is restricted to a licensed per user (seat) per session. There's not much incentive to using it in this fashion integrated with Orion as Orion doesn't have the license per user (seat)…
