I'm looking for customers that are willing to jump on a GoToMeeting with Cisco to troubleshoot this issue live. Please DM if you're interested in setting up a time. Jeff
-
Same here, we have about 10,000 elements per poller. I know SW has tried to fix this issue without killing the service. I think their next step will be to just kill it.
-
I'm getting the same error when trying to dowload configs. We have Orion, Cirrus & the Toolset running on this box. Cirrus will start the tftp but not download the config file.

I do like the thought of these ideas, but additional software and hardware cost come in to play. I will say that v3.5 has made huge gains in performance than other version. If the performance keeps increasing with each version I see no need for the ideas mentioned.

Are you looking in Orion or the standalone web interface for NCM? I can only find it at the following address ncmservernameoraddress:8888 Jeff

Does the SNMP community string have an '@' symbol in it?
-
Can you give me a little more information about what you're trying to accomplish? Are you just wanting to search for a MAC, IP, or Hostname? If so you can use the search feature at the top right of the Summary page. Also, there is a device watchlist you can setup to notify you when devices come online, based upon MAC, IP,…

Ok that worked, so my next question is how about in EOC???
-
You should be able to leverage PsExec to accomplish this; http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897553 Jeff
-
You would use the Multi-Interface Chart resource for this. There should be an option to show the SUM of the interfaces on the chart.
-
The easy way would be to upgrade to 10.1 and use groups :) The other method would be creating a custom SQL report within the report writer.

I don't really know of any other company that supports its clients like SolarWinds! I'm sure there are areas that need to be improved, but overall we've been very pleased with support. Cheers.
-
Larry, Do you have an alert setup based on the output? Thanks, Jeff
-
A considerable amount. 300 interfaces across 6 6509s. It keeps our SQL server busy.
-
Dual Quad Core, but I'm thinking that Orion isn't capable of multicore. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Our main box has the following; Elements 10622 Network Node Elements 169 Interface Elements 10430 Volume Elements 23 This also does all our Netflow & APM work. I would say that the biggest performance improvements are…

It is a Performance Counter Monitor, I just added it to the Orion Template. Here is a screen cap of what you should add, you can also gather v9 if desired.
-
Awesome. Thank you for the additional information---extremely helpful.
-
Try running the Cisco Card Data report and see what you get. You might want to just try it on one device. Running it on all Cisco devices could take a little longer.

The discovery process is found in the web-console. You can get to it by clicking Manage Nodes on the Summary page or by clicking settings in the top right of any page. The discovery process can help you add nodes, but also collect topology information about your environment. Here is a great resource/post for…

Bryan, Hard to say without seeing the server. At this point I'd recommend you open a ticket with support. Post back here what you find out if you don't mind. Thanks, Jeff
-
This brings up a good question. What are the pros and cons of leaving monitoring on in Cirrus if you have Orion? I have them both on the same box, should I disable node monitoring in Cirrus?
-
Were either of you successful in getting this tool to work? Most of our customers have leveraged nProbe in the past for this kind of functionality.
-
You can unmonitor the ports in UDT and we will stop collecting data on them. On the UDT Summary page there is an option to Manage Ports (Looks very similar to the Manage Nodes in NPM). On this page you can select your Trunk ports and click unmonitor.
-
I had a small DB permissions error because the defaults were not removed in the reg. Other than that the upgrade was smooth :) Thanks SW Orion Team.
-
Good to know I wasn't the only one seeing this; ?PageIndex=1 I opened a case and Dev looked into it. Before Dev made a suggestion things got better. If Denny wants to look at my case my the solution they came up with for us will help you. Jeff

I was having the same problem. SP3 was stable for me but after an upgrade to SP4 my service started to crash again. I rolled back to SP3 and have not crashed since.
-
Kevin, If you are still seeing this we could use a PCAP to verify the data. Jeff
-
I'm checking with my team, but I should have something for you shortly.
-
The "Unplugged" feature is now in Orion. It should do this.
