  • You were right. I let it run over night. Db went from 48.2G, then I trunkated TrapVarbinds table, ran Maintenance, then the compact worked. Now Db is 13.3GB. Web site even running faster. Your support is greatly appretiated
  • Running the Db Compact will take the longest. I would plan on at least 3 hrs for this amount of data. Make sure to stop all your poling services first. I found that this was all orphan data w/no pointer. I had 117,000,000 orphaned records in that table. Looks like SW's Hotfix fixed the bug, w/out cleaning up the data. I…
  • Truncated table. table blank now. Ran maintenance..ok Ran Compact db on NetPerfMon from Db Maint...program stops responding @ "compacting db netperfmon". Please assist.
  • I was afraid you were going to say that. The patches fixed the bug, but did not get rid of the orphaned data. Hmmm...can I retain any of this data? Even if there is NO pointer? I hate deleting data that I might need.
  • Are you aware of how long after the sign up for the beta NTA 3.0 (NetFlow v9) that I will be contact for the download / installation?
  • Query came back w/ 117042000, it took 0:46:28
  • Running query in sql - query analyser - running now for 25 mins. did I mention the table is 27GB. Any other ideas?
  • Ran query...got error. "[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver] Timeout expired"
  • It does clarify. Documentation states that and mt experience as well. But, this does not explain why some change and some do not. Please see if someone from SW can pick this thread up. Thank you....Jay
  • I would suggest concentrating on the NetFlowSummary2. When you truncate the data in that table is destroyed...after maint and compact the Db size will be considerably less "Furthermore will NetFlowSummary2 fill up again? How did you back up the DB before you did all of this? I saw another post talking about deleting the…
  • I have signed up for the Beta 3.0 --- When will that become production and/or GD? Will it support collecting via different ports?
  • Latest SL2000 Orion, latest Netflow, latest APM, Win2K3, SQL2000 Standard Db size = 50GB and growing daily I am having the same issue. looking @ sql manager...the TrapVarbinds table is 28GB. I keep my stats for a longer period. But after maintenance the Db keeps growing. It should be averaging older data, i.e. averagable…
  • Not sure if this makes since. adding multiple nodes (500). While finished for the day (normally 50-70 nodes) I will goto Interface Alerts - Basic. Some of the nodes are hostname have changed to our norm...and others keep what the original hostname is. Norm = Client-State_City (descriptor) While this is not a critical…
  • Not a problem BB. I'm not a DBA here either. Luckily I have DBAs here...but they all work in Oracle. (Close enough) If you are indeed trying to truncate a Db Table...all of this can be done the Orion Database Manager under Database Utilities. When you open this you can open (Dbl click) the NetPerfMon Db. On the right you…
  • Question... when will the Orion NTA support NetFlow V9? I have many Adtran NetVanta 1335 Router/Switches I manage. These only run Netflow V9. Thanks, jbeville@cirronetworx.com
  • When you trunkate a Db table...this should only take as long as it takes to press the Enter Key. THis removes the format from that table, then releases all the data in that table. But that is alot of data to lose. The Db Maintenance and Compact probably took the longest. Mine did. My problem consisted of Orphaned data in…
  • yes...snmp is wokring ok. all Eth0/0, Loopback0, and serial interfaces are managed.
  • Thank you...I am sure that will help. My question is that some (Most) do change..but some do not, why and what can I do to prevent this? NodeName - fine, Maps - fine, Orion Node Alert (Node Status) - fine Jay
  • I went through the thread. Most of the info points to separating my Polling Engine (NPM) from the Db. I have 2 different servers. One runs the NPM, NTA and NetFlow. The other runs only SQL2000 Standard. Any other suggestions? Database Details Web ServerVISUALWORX-NPM1Operating SystemWindows 2003 Standard EditionOS…
  • Thank you for your assistance. I was able to get Atlas going w/that. But, I was editing a map...trying to save it when Atlas said it had a problem and had to close. I lost all of my work. I guess I should save more often. Thoughts? Jay
  • This seams like it would work great. I created the n_mute and i_mute custom fields. These are not showing up in the Advanced Alerts. Do you know if I must restart services for these to show? Thanks, Jay Orion NPM - 10K elements and growing!!!
