The only devices that i could not run that SNMP command on was the ASA which are also reporting these virtual interfaces as well but they seem to have stopped too.

Oh yeah I get it. Shaping is a great way to go if you have that luxury. Sounds like shaping has a lot of overhead but will not drop packets when congested. I do not think any of our equipment will do that. We use 3850s and 3750s. We are looking into the ISR series routers which I am guessing can do this. Thanks again

So if QOS is not being the bandwidth command will still work for SW? When you said shaping is the way to go for Ethernet interfaces. Did you mean vs tagging?

Hmm i think the change i pushed out via NCM actually fixed this. Took a bit but i am now not getting this error. This was recommendation from another post to change the snmp interface number to persistent. snmp-server ifindex persist was run on all of our Cisco switches. Lets see if any of these errors come back. Just to…

I just looked it up and it looks like the bandwidth command is totally passive and can be used whether QOS is being used or not.

Yes the devices work for regular snmp information and Netflow. I just get constant alerts stating I am getting Netflow info from unknown interface which is not supported by snmp.

Thanks Craig We did go to settings and select monitor all ports. We wanted to do this in the begging so we could start to label traffic. The flows that it is missing are standard protocols. Port 445 for cifs. As a test I installed realtime netflow analyzer and selected my machine as an endpoint and then did things like…

Thanks for the reply Funny that is exactly what I did. All of our uplinks have a common description and created a filter with that key word. I also created a view with top 20 external domains and top 20 receivers/transmitters. It would be great if I could do a top 20 transmitters or receivers focused on a particular…

Thanks for the quick answers I like the idea of setting this in the switches. Currently we are not using L3 switches for QOS. We tag our traffic at the client and server level and our ISP prioritizes by how we tag the traffic. The reason I bring this up is because our 3750x do not have MLS enabled. Is this bandwidth…

Not on thwack but I did end up having to completely rebuild SW because of multiple crashes on the cluster which caused corruption. Giant pain!! I did open a ticket with support and here is what they said. They do support always but highly recommend simple recovery mode opposed to full recovery mode. The problem is full…
