The latest IPAM 3.1 supports management features also for Cisco IOS and ASA DHCP servers.
-
In IPAM 3.1, which is currently in Release Candidate phase, we do not count network and broadcast addresses into the license. Let me know if you need more info. Jan

This is the KB article which helped to solve this issue: Unable to add an Orion NPM to Orion EOC
-
Please open a support ticket for this. Thanks Jan

This is just internal number for this change request. I put it here so that you can reference it if you decide to follow this up with IPAM product manager.

When you create a new scope directly on the DHCP server, IPAM will scan it and display it. You are saying that you cannot see any scopes in IPAM. Does it mean that you can see the DHCP server in IPAM but no scopes related to it? If so, please create a support ticket for this as it could indicate some scanning issue. '

Taking this conversation offline. I'll update this thread with our findings.

Bryan, we changed the logic in the EOC 1.3 SP1 which is going to be released soon, so that unmanaged nodes don't affect the overall status of the group. Please install the SP1 when it's available and let us know, if you still think it works incorrectly. Thanks Jan
-
Hi Joseph, thanks for that. In the meantime I have got some information here about the first problem and I think we can solve it quite quickly. I will contact support to instruct them what I think needs to be done regarding that. Jan

There could be several reasons for this issue, but we are not able to analyze this without seeing log files. Please open support ticket for this. Thanks Jan
-
I'm not sure if I understand this correctly - do you see this error message in Orion or in EOC? Thanks Jan
-
I'm afraid, there is no simple rule of thumb for this. It depends not just on the latency, but also on the number of polled entities, polling frequency etc. In general, the network latency between DB and the poller should be about 10ms. The latest NPM may be able to handle higher latency, but it really depends on your…

If I understood it correctly, when you turn your EOC on, you can see Request Timeout errors on your NPM servers? If so, I propose to open a support ticket for this. Thanks Jan
-
If you mean, if you can use ASA device for neighbor scanning, the answer is unfortunately no. We use SNMP table IPNetToMedia (OID: 1.3.6.1.2.1.4.22) for neighbor scanning and this table is not supported on ASA devices.

Can you check how many traps or sylogs do you have in that Orion? Some devices on the network can generate a lot of traps or syslogs (hundred of thousands per day) and EOC then needs some time to download this data into its database.
-
We are looking at the issue, we will let you know when we know more or when we need more info from you. Thanks for this feedback. Jan
-
I created feature request 180896 for this, so that IPAM product manager is aware of this. Thanks for your feedback. Jan
-
This issue was fixed in IPAM 3.0 which was released few weeks ago. Are you able to reproduce it in this version as well? Thanks Jan
-
IPAM 3.0 allows you to manage (create/edit/delete) exclusions on Windows DHCP servers. The upcoming IPAM 3.1, which is currently in RC phase, allows you to do the same also on Cisco DHCP servers.
-
Just for the record, this was resolved by installing the latest version of the Orion-to-EOC 1.3 Network Atlas Map Conversion Utility.
-
You can have EOC and NPM on the same server, just the NPM must be version 10.1 or higher. Jan
-
Sorry, I'm not sure if I understand. So were you able to connect to that DHCP server using MS DHCP Console?
-
The exact syntax could differ for different resources, anyway if this is something which worked in EOC 1.3 and stopped working in SP1, please create a support case for this.
-
Yes, using IPAM, you can change DHCP scope name without deleting the scope. Microsoft DHCP API library allows you to do this and we use this API in IPAM.
-
Yes, I can confirm that this is default value.
-
In that case, could you please open a new support ticket? Thanks Jan
-
No estimate yet. We know the technical solution, but it also depends on some changes in the Orion so I can't tell you when we will be able to address this issue in EOC. Jan
-
Rudi, I understand that SQL based reporting resource would be versatile, anyway if you need to display number of up/down nodes, you can do it in the Global Node Status by Site resource when you group nodes by Status column.
-
Please open a support ticket for those issues related to used IPs and SNMP info. We would need to look at log files to be able to help you with this.
-
I'm afraid we would need to know more details to give you more info on this. There is no general reason for failing SolarWinds Information Service, so without looking at logs to see the actual issue we cannot tell you more.
