-->Thank you for the fast response. Responding in-line. @jamieinbox - We currently allow all users to create maps, but the maps that are created are only viewable to the owner. This is of course unless a) you are an admin and have the ability to toggle between owners to see different maps (in the map management page), -->…

I am looking for this feature, to carve out view permissions per group of equipment. Network team can see all. Access team can only see config on groups that contain switches. (Is this not already possible now... ? )

It's very frustrating that you allow Orion Maps to a non-admin, and they still don't see the created maps as the admin do. I can use this work-around of widgets to allow them to see the maps, but it's terrible they have the ability to change the maps.

Hi Don, I would like to see a project plan. I need something pretty simple, a matrix of products and offerings so it's more of a snapshot of what SolarWinds provides. It would be nice if this project plan were very modular. First, something decent that shows some examples of sizing. Then, what are the necessary base…

Thank for your help with this.

Thank for for your information. You are correct, and worked. The permission issue threw me off.

jblankjblank got me the answer I needed (BIG thank you!!) per the post: jblankjblank Jun 19, 2019 4:58 PM Lots of threads to pull together, for sure.

I specified the profile (one I created). The last SSH option was tftp. Things are much improved and now I can fix all the config backups that need a more unique profile. Thanks for checking things out and your suggestions HerrDoktor

christopher.t.jones123, sorry I am green. It's not easy being green. Managing node means it's within NPM. Monitoring both sides of the interface, does this mean when I do the network discovery, I specifically set this link up to be monitored- thus using a license? I am confused on a couple points: -I've heard I "should"…
-
What I have learned from the "Virtual Classrooms General Office Hours" this morning, that I need to go into: --SETTINGS --ALL SETTINGS --NODE & GROUP MANAGEMENT --MANAGE POLLERS --TOPOLOGY: LAYER 2 and ----TOPOLOGY: LAYER 3 And turn this on...But checking now, I do have this on. I am still trying to wrap my head on…

Thinking about this, it looks like I need enough NMP licenses for the links I need. If I tried to monitor two pieces of equipment, would it have to be the individual port connecting to the individual port-- so I cannot use a virtual Vlan 80 (per say) and expect that it will connect to a neighboring device on Vlan port 80,…

It won't work with this alert, you don't have the option to change conditions. Under "ALERT MANAGER" --> "High Packet Loss" There is a banner that states: "This is an out-of-box alert. You can only add Trigger/Reset actions or Time of Day settings for this alert. Conditions can't be changed." Totally a bummer. We just…

There "shouldn't" be any ACLs, but I like your thoughts. I am going to try a tftp server on my Orion server and test. It's for a 6880, I am not using custom device template right now (maybe I should be...). Thanks for your thoughts.
-
Thanks for looking at this. In this particular case, it is a 6880, but I have 17 that are being backed up and 608 that are not that are various types. I have not tested each of them on a ssh connectivity version check but the ones I have-- worked. For this 6880, it pulls a system SysOID. I am using the default to check for…

Thank you- and thank you for the link to trace. I will try this.

Not trying to be dense- I'm gathering that I *should have everything I need in NPM? No matter what license amount I have? I need to go into NPM and check out what I'm monitoring? Thanks again. I'll check out the links, too.
-
Thank you very much for the help. I appreciate it greatly. I looks like we need licenses for interfaces (we needed them anyway for UDT). -Am I on track with that statement? Time to go unlimited. Thanks again. Jamie
-
Is there a way to pull in the interfaces without re-discovering the device? I'm hoping so- or any suggestions? Thanks, Jamie
-
No, didn't even consider-- I will give that a try and let you know. Thank you christopher.t.jones123

Answered part of my need: You can use ACCOUNT LIMITATIONS- with folders already used. You use the Group of Groups limitations. Now to find how to give full config view on switches, but not routers...

I am trying to get a report of just the failed backup configs. I get a status of them all. The boss doesn't want that- just the exceptions.
-
Turns out the error was not a good pointer to a solution. It's that one of my profile ways to download was tftp rather than ssh. This correction got things backed up. Thanks all that helped me ponder over this issue.

*per the correct answer by jblankjblank in Orion Maps 2.0 - Need help linking objects (part 1).

I am investigating custom settings with groups and parents.
