It is very annoying to set this up alright BUT you only have to do it once. I work with a client at the moment who has retail outlets all over the world which equates to 6 polling engines, 20,000 + devices and a TB database and it works very well for them.

To get the templates to auto assign all you have to do is setup a group in manage groups and add new group. Add a dynamic query, now depending on your server naming\ip policies, say we will go with hostname, set the query to node, then select system name from the dropdown. Type in a naming convention such as 'sql' or 'web'…

You cant deploy an agent automatically through solarwinds. Your only option is setting up an automatic scan and import while only adding wmi credentials and root credentials for the hosts. You will need to select poll for vmware also. To circumnavigate the agent issue, i would advise you to add the agent to your golden…

Not to the degree your looking for thats more of SIEM functionality so you would be looking for this. SIEM Tool - Security Information & Event Management | SolarWinds

Go to home and alerts. Acknowledge alert which prompts you to input the first note. The edit and add just select the alert and view alert details. Notes can be added and edited. Just save when done.
-
no bother. I would log a call with solarwinds about their documentation though.
-
If its giving you an error saying to upgrade nta, then their own documentation is wrong by the looks of it. Because it shows 4.0.x in the documentation, i would upgrade to the minor version in 4.0 and then try installing npm 12. The minor versions only contain things like hotfixes anyway. Why dont you want to upgrade to 4.2…

Yes, they are compatible so you should have no issues. NPM product compatibility chart - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support

......Or you could just add the same credential with the correct name and delete the old one. You also have not specified what credential type your on about.

Your more than welcome.

Give this a whirl Monitor Cisco ISE appliance in SolarWinds
-
Right, here we go. The reason why you are getting a negative figure is because your target memory is greater than the actual total server memory. In other words your sql server is configured with an inaccurate memory and not dynamic or the server is under resourced. Every sql server is different so it is pointless…

Well it looks like you have it set to auto import the ports but what i cant see is what filters you have applied against you interface\ports in the automation process. Thats the reason for my statement, in other words not enough information.
-
Nope, just raw experience from us.
-
Depends on what filters you have applied in your interfaces.
-
Solarwinds only supports smi-s provider on emc vnx arrays. Sorry. Basically requires SRM module.
-
These are already monitored and should have alerts enabled by default. Memory: first condition: node>instance>(select objects) second condition: node>memory %(browse all fields)>80% If you have sam you can monitor the page file by applying the active directory 2003-2012 counters but you have not mentioned what modules you…

I think you have hit the nail on the head there to be fair.
-
Sounds great, i would throw in there stuff like: Did the agent explain in a concise manner the resolution to your problem? Overall how would you rate your experience?
-
They normally ask questions about the tech who worked on their problem, satisfactory resolution or product support satisfaction, that kind of stuff.

If the interfaces dont seem to be importing correctly then verify your filters by going to an existing discovery and selecting import all results, On the interfaces section, expand advanced and input what you had entered in the auto import definitions and apply the filter. This will tell you immediately if your filters are…
-
1. yes 2. Do a manual scan first, add any nodes you dont want to the ignore list. 3. make sure your auto import definitions are setup correctly.

Gotcha, if by any chance your are using chrome, change to internet explorer to input the string. Ill explain further if this works! If not change the string to something stupid like 'test'. Is the user in a user group?

Telnet from orion to ucs port 161. If it hangs on connecting, the port is closed.
-
Fair enough, you will just have to leave it until you are able to migrate to more powerfull servers and purchase a second ape.

Auto dependencies work perfectly when the environment is configured correctly. For example, all the interfaces such as trunks, vlans, routing, topology, lags, uplinks on the access switches. All active ports on the core stacks, firewalls, routers etc..... They dont work correctly when these are not selected and make a node…

Hi agian, Yes i am familiar with this situation and to be honest you do not need to create groups for all vpn sites. If you enable auto dependencies then it will auto calculate the dependencies for you on flat networks such as vpn sites traditionally have. You only need to create groups for sites such as datacenters, head…

Firstly i have never seen that before on thwack or solarwinds so i would log a call with solarwinds. Looks like an xbox symbol to me which would set alarm bells. Solarwinds take 30-90 days to apply points. Secondly, i never build dependencies node by node. I create groups by site with child groups by topology and build my…
