Excellent! The article I've been waiting for. glenkemp this series has been excellent, thank you for sharing!
-
Interesting. glenkemp So, is this the same as the concept behind using SIEM (i.e. baselining a system and then watching for anything outside of the norm [anomalies, that is])?
-
Good article!
-
......AAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaand bookmarked for later.
-
+1. This legitimately made me laugh. Nicely done, kevincrouch4.
-
Agreed; Real world implementations -- let's see 'em!
-
NICE!

You should do like I have. Just take a knob off an old appliance and hang it in your office. Put a label above it that says "Network Speed," and put the dial to about 3. Hilarity ensues.
-
So, it's just a wi-fi dongle? Anybody tried using it with a linux computer?
-
This is really teaching me some good stuff about DPI. I've never really looked into it, but I'm glad this series has come along!
-
Are you more concerned about actionable IT metrics and not concerned with the business impact? Yes-- I'm definitely not big on the business impact (which is unfortunate, as I do see the importance; I merely lose sight of this sort of thing) What are the metrics that matter to you? Uptime, Downtime, Failed Authentications.…

I'm new to IP SLA, but it's a very useful tool. This is the post I've been waiting for; definitely going in my bookmarked category. Great stuff!
-
rob.hock when will this device be added to the Free Tools & Trials page?
-
Whoa snap! All those points showed up this morning! Thanks DanielleH & maria.bungau
-
We can't really do a lot of cloud stuff where I work... which is semi-fortunate for me, since I don't have to deal with networking that.
-
You know, I think that the book "Network Warrior" had a section on how to sell your idea to management... I don't think I read it, but it was there.
-
It does say the points will be given the week of July 7th. You probably just have to wait; If it makes you feel better I haven't gotten them yet. henazo
-
Wow, that's a pretty easy bunch of points!
-
I guess what I was saying was that I just wanted to see some examples and not just the overview, if you know what I mean. I hope you didn't take my wanting and wishing as unjust criticism!
-
Okay, now that it's the last day of the week of July 7th, NOW is the time to ask where the points are... ...Politely, of course.
-
I've never heard that particular phrase before, but I do like it. Nicely put!
-
Been a looonng time since I've had to mess with servers. Thank god for that!
-
This is an absolutely vital question to ask. I think the next question would be "Do you know if your devices are updating correctly?" We once had an issue with devices not uploading their configs... found out a little too late!
-
I once had an end user give me coffee. That was exciting!
-
Voted up; However, have you considered another browser?
-
This is good info. I hate dealing with Telco's/WAN Providers!
-
I concur with JimCouch and constant re-education. Constant education and re-education is probably the most clear hall-mark of IT as a field.
-
First things first -- I definitely enjoy your blog (ccie-or-null). Fantastic stuff, and it's the website where I learned about the SCP certification. Secondly, I wish my voip checklist looked like this... so now it does. Copy +Pasta. Thanks!
-
This is a good question; unfortunately I've only seen this issue from the end-user perspective. Needless to say, I was very happy to remove the e-mails from my device when I left.

We keep it pretty proactive around here, but we still (and always will) have some cleaning-up to do.
